JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Post No: Website Development Manager SR024 Department: Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment Grade: Salary: Tenure: Hours: Accountable to: Accountable for: 6AB 32,958-37,075 per annum Permanent 37 hours per week Corporate Design Manger Web Development Officer, Digital Media Officer Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: Primary objective To manage and be responsible for all Cardiff Met s current and future website activity, expanding the content, reach and impact of digital media in line with the Communications, Marketing & Student Recruitment (CMSR) unit s aims and objectives. Main Duties To manage the website development team. To be responsible for the website budget. To work closely with in-house teams within CMSR. To lead the creation of dynamic, engaging web content, managing the ongoing maintenance of the website to ensure consistency of design, layout and usability.
Lead and manage small and large scale projects to enable new functionality, design or content to enhance user experience (U). Manage good relationships with the Information Services Division (ISD) and external suppliers. Negotiate support contracts for external suppliers in accordance with Cardiff Met s Financial Regulations. Regularly review the information architecture and functional design of the site, incorporating new technologies to improve workflows and information accessibility. Design and implement an appropriate training plan to ensure all users are proficient in the website protocols. Use online tools to analyse and improve search engine optimisation (SEO) and monitor social media activity. To provide insight and expertise as part of the wider team to maximise the University s social media engagement for student recruitment and communications. To draw up plans for long-term website development, effectively collaborating with internal / external stakeholders, meeting Cardiff Met s institutional requirements. To research other universities and organisations websites to ensure that Cardiff Met s web presence attains a best in class status. To monitor web performance indicators, providing feedback and recommendations where required. To oversee the development of other internally developed websites, enforcing the use of the Cardiff Met s house style, templates and corporate brand guidelines. To manage communications links with departmental web authors and ensure compliance with website design and content generation. Represent the department on key committees, assisting in the management and development of new projects and initiatives, including design and implementation.

Appreciation of accessibility issues in relation to website design. Knowledge and understanding of SENDA. Knowledge of W3C compliance and guidelines. In-depth knowledge of Content Management Systems implementation considerations for website design, hosting and delivery

Experience Paid/Unpaid Experience in a similar role Excellent IT and web programming skills, including coding experience in HTML, JavaScript and jquery. Demonstrable experience of using Adobe Creative Suite / Creative Cloud (including Dreamweaver, Photoshop). Demonstrable experience of implementing and maintaining a large website / CMS. Experience of PPC (Google AdWords, Bing Ads) for paid digital marketing campaigns. Proven experience of using Google Analytics or similar reporting tools. Managing a small team.
