We won t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Mind employs over 200 staff and we have a team of volunteers. Most staff are based in Stratford, London, there is an office in Cardiff and Manchester and there are a number of dispersed staff working across England and Wales. Scope of the job Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, you will have overall responsibility for Mind s digital fundraising activity. Working closely with colleagues in Communications and Fundraising, you will champion fundraising in all our digital communications work. You will work closely with managers in the Public Fundraising Unit to identify digital fundraising needs and priorities, and to develop and deliver plans to meet fundraising targets and KPIs. You will work to a schedule of planned campaigns and appeals, looking for opportunities to maximise digital communications in them. You will report back on performance and make recommendations. You will also work alongside the fundraising team to develop their skills in digital communications and enable them to deliver their own digital activity when appropriate.
2 As part of the Digital Communications you will identify and develop content for all digital channels and contribute to the team s broader work, including digital marketing (SEO and PPC) and social media monitoring. You will work collaboratively with staff across Mind as well as other stakeholders and external contacts. Mind aims to ensure that the needs and interests of mental health service users, women, black and minority ethnic communities, disabled people, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and people of all ages are reflected in all its activities. You are expected to contribute to this aim. Key responsibilities Digital 1. To plan, execute and evaluate digital fundraising campaigns for direct marketing and fundraising events to meet objectives, using appropriate channels from the digital marketing mix (including , social media, website, search engine optimisation and pay per click advertising) 2. To manage the development and production of digital fundraising products and projects. 3. To train and support the Fundraising team in digital communications, develop systems and tools to enable colleagues to use digital and provide advice and practical support. 4. To produce, commission, edit and publish digital fundraising content, ensuring consistency and compliance with Mind s key communications messages, quality standards, branding, design, accessibility and style guidelines. 5. To monitor Mind s social media channels on a rota basis, showing respect and sensitivity, in line with agreed policies and procedures. Fundraising 1. To achieve set targets for conversion and income from digital activities. 2. To work with the Digital Communications Manager and our external agency to coordinate and evaluate all paid digital activity for fundraising. 3. To prepare monthly web analytics to assess whether digital fundraising performance 4. To evaluate return on investment for digital fundraising activity and make recommendations accordingly. 5. To maintain and develop the fundraising pages of the Mind website, using regular user-experience testing (online and in person)
3 6. Contribute to the development and implementation of a coordinated supporter journey across Mind, ensuring this is applied across digital channels. Budget 1. Monitor delegated budgets for digital fundraising activity EXPECTATIONS 1. To keep up to date with developments in digital technology, digital marketing and fundraising techniques and sector trends 2. To adhere to professional standards and legislation in relation to fundraising, marketing and data management. 3. Keep abreast of internal and external developments and respond accordingly 4. To attend and contribute to supervision and appraisal process, meetings, training, and other events as required. 5. To adhere to relevant legal and statutory requirements including the Data Protection Act (ensuring an appropriate level of confidentiality at all times), Health and Safety at Work Act (ensuring H&S of own and others at all times) and any other relevant/charity law. 6. To travel to meetings in England and Wales, which may require the need to work unsociable hours e.g. attending evening or weekend meetings or for overnight stay. 7. To ensure that all responsibilities and activities within this post are in accordance with the terms and spirit of Mind s mission, vision, values, objectives, policies, procedures and practices 8. 4 Mind Person specification: Senior Digital Fundraising Officer Essential criteria Experience 1. Demonstrable experience in a digital fundraising role, to include planning and delivering digital fundraising campaigns, achieving desired targets and reporting on impact. 2. Proven ability to write and edit highly engaging copy for different audiences across online communications, with demonstrable skills in being clear and concise. 3. Ability to undertake accurate analysis of relevant analytics or research and produce jargon free summaries. 4. Demonstrable experience of maintaining and protecting an organisation s brand in a variety of formats. 5. Ability to work independently and proactively, to prioritise work and meet deadlines with welldeveloped time management skills. 6. Experience of managing relationships with digital suppliers. 7. Experience of project management, including delivering to timescales and budgets. 8. Excellent IT skills, including using Content Management Systems, CRM systems, marketing systems, social media tools, HTML and web analytics. 9. Ability to work as part of a team and with other stakeholders in a collaborative way and using a partnerships approach. 10. Experience of working with vulnerable groups and being sensitive to their needs. 11. Willingness and ability to work unsocial hours, particularly at weekends (on rota system) to monitor social media activity and taking action as required. 12. Demonstrable understanding and commitment to Mind s work, aims and objectives. Knowledge 1. Demonstrable understanding of effective digital communications, marketing and fundraising techniques, and a willingness to keep up to date with technologies and developments.

6 Mind (National Association for Mental Health) Additional information Senior Digital Fundraising Officer Conditions of employment In the light of legislation [Section 8 Asylum and Immigration Act, January 1997], as a condition of being able to commence employment with Mind, the successful candidate will be required to provide documentation to prove that they are able to work in the UK. Such documents will include one or more of the following, as appropriate: National Insurance number Birth certificate or British passport Certificate of registration, or naturalisation as a British citizen Passport or documentation evidencing citizenship of an EEA country Probation The appointment is subject to a probation period of six months Salary Grade D of Mind's salary scales. Starting salary 29,630 per annum plus 2,992 per annum geographical weighting, followed by five annual increments to 34,589 per annum. Increments will be subject to annual review in accordance with Mind s procedures. Hours of work/flexible working hours A standard 35 hours per week within 8.00am to 7.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding one hour break for lunch. Mind operates a flexible working hours scheme whereby members of staff can vary the time they start and finish work within the parameters agreed by their line managers. However, the core period of 10.00am to 4.00pm (excluding lunch break) are the times during which you must be at work. Time off will be given for work outside the standard hours. Overtime is not payable.
