1 BISHOP GROSSETESTE UNIVERSITY JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Business Systems Developer (SharePoint) Grade: SPS 6 Responsible to: Head of IT Job Summary As a member of the IT Services Development Team, to be responsible for the analysis, design, development and implementation of the Universities SharePoint Infrastructure and the development, design and implementation of bespoke web applications which will provide solutions to business requirements Detailed Responsibilities 1. To design, develop and implement SharePoint based applications and associated bespoke web applications. 2. Work with key business stakeholders and technical colleagues to define, develop and implement the roadmap for SharePoint with a view of system integration. 3. Plan, design and execute tests to ensure that new and amended software functions as specified and is in agreed standards and ensure interfaces perform as intended 4. Delivery, maintenance, security and monitoring of the Universities SharePoint environment to ensure that performance is maximised and that faults or problems are rectified in a systematic and timely manner with a view to making amendments/enhancements when necessary. 5. Design and write SharePoint web parts and user interface enhancements. 6. Ensure that the SharePoint environment are routinely backed up and carry out regular Disaster recovery test in accordance with the Universities DR plan and Document procedures and scripts. 7. To ensure the SharePoint environment is configured for High Availability. 8. Participate in planning and implementing third party vendor software, including upgrades 9. Ensure all work carried out is robust, clearly documented and easily maintained by other team members 10. Work in cooperation with staff in the University, and staff of system suppliers to ensure smooth rollout, implementation and support for University information systems.
2 11. Participate in and contribute to relevant external and internal professional, service and university groups. 12. Keep abreast of new developments in information systems and database technology. 13. Generate high quality reports and system documentation. 14. To undertake occasional work out of hours in support of system maintenance. 15. To provide assistance to IT Development team colleagues at particularly busy periods of the year. 16. To carry out other tasks as agreed with the Head of IT PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND REVIEW 17. To attend appropriate training and staff development sessions and participate in the staff appraisal process. 18. To provide written reports on activity as requested. HEALTH AND SAFETY 19. To discharge all relevant health and safety responsibilities. GENERAL 20. To maintain professional standards in relationships, including non-discriminatory practices. 21. To adopt a client-centred approach and to deal promptly and considerately with members of the public, staff and students. 22. To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required.
3 BISHOP GROSSETESTE UNIVERSITY PERSON PROFILE Business Systems Developer (SharePoint) Education/ Qualifications and Special Training Experience Knowledge and Skills Core A degree or an HND in a computing related discipline or proven experience. High level of experience of SharePoint Development, SharePoint Administration, SharePoint Systems Design, Development & Support Solid experience in C# / ASP.Net Good level of experience in SQL Good knowledge of developing in some or all of the following: HTML5, JavaScript, Silverlight, jquery, Ajax, CSS3 Adoption of hotfixes, service packs and other scheduled maintenance activities. Guidance regarding resilience, failover, backup and restore options for SharePoint Creation and enhancement of new sites using standard out of the box and bespoke third party functionality. Installation and Configuration of SharePoint servers and farms Set up and maintain environments for the testing of custom developed solutions. Ongoing maintenance of application and indexing servers, any features, web parts, templates, solutions or third party Supplementary MCPD on SharePoint 2010/2013 Experience of working within higher or further education. Familiarity with Service Delivery standards and frameworks (e.g. ITIL) Knowledge of Agile project management
