1 Department of Business Development and Marketing Job Description Reporting Relationships Responsible to: Marketing Manager General Role Overview As a dynamic and creative e-marketing officer, you will be responsible for the delivery of the e-marketing strategy for the College. In this role you will ensure that the College is always at the forefront of developments in the e-marketing arena. You will also use your skills to assist in building partnerships and maximising opportunities to generate revenue and public awareness through electronic media primarily centred on the College Website. The role requires working as an integral part of the College s forward thinking Marketing Team. Duties & Responsibilities Work with the Marketing Manager to agree overall e-marketing campaign criteria, delivery and evaluation. The role focuses on a variety of on-line marketing tasks relating to payper-click (PPC), Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, marketing as well as crosscollege project based work and informative, engaging and accurate website content. This will include: Maintaining and delivering in collaboration with the Marketing Manager the current e-marketing strategy and KPI s Exploring & developing e-marketing opportunities to increase student enrolment & college profile Working in conjunction with the Marketing Manager to promote SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) of the college website Producing regular marketing analytics from the College website to inform and assist effectiveness of overall College marketing and management information Managing the production of web content in collaboration with the E-marketing and Graphic Design Assistant, focusing in particular on e-marketing

2 Collaborating with the Marketing and Recruitment group to maximise and develop marketing opportunities of the web site Building relationships and marketing campaigns with other institutions and web marketers Exploring database marketing opportunities including those from the College CRM Liaising with the College s Business Development and Enterprise team to identify and maximise employer engagement effectiveness Revenue generation through the promotion of commercial opportunities with the Commercial Enterprise Manager Administration & quality control of e-marketing processes Assist the Marketing Manager with the effective budget management of e-marketing projects Working effectively as part of the College Marketing team to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of College marketing Assist with gathering qualitative feedback on the website and publications Supporting the ethos of the College, its marketing and recruitment activities Participating in College events & networking promotions Up to date knowledge of Photoshop, Joomla and our main Social Media channels including; Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Instagram and LinkedIn The above list is neither exhaustive or exclusive, and the post holder will be expected to undertake any other duties within his / her capability and experience that may be relevant and necessary to fulfil the post effectively.

This includes co-operating with management in complying with health and safety obligations, particularly by reporting promptly any defects, risks or potential hazards. Safeguarding The College is committed to the safeguarding of all its students, staff and visitors and provides a safe physical environment. The College ensures safeguarding legislation and guidance are adhered to and considered when developing and revising policies and procedures. The College has policies and procedures in place to deal effectively with child protection and safeguarding issues as well as recording and monitoring processes. It is a condition of employment that all staff are trained to an appropriate level to meet their safeguarding responsibilities. Data Protection Computer information should only be accessed if this has been authorised and is necessary as part of the post holder s work. Unauthorised action being taken, in accordance with the College s disciplinary procedure, may lead to dismissal. The post holder s attention is also drawn to the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

4 Department of Business Development and Marketing Person Specification Requirements Essential Educational attainment Good standard of general education at Level 3 or above. Level 4 qualification in social and digital media Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes required Action orientated, fast learner & happy working flexibly as part of a team Results driven and KPI focused Be effective at prioritisation & able to work under deadline pressure Have a broad understanding of internet, search engines & how they work Have knowledge of the key principles of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Have strong Web & MS Office skills Understanding of databases & database marketing Excellent organisational skills Excellent inter-personal and presentation skills Excellent verbal and written communication and English language skills Proven problem-solving skills Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Joomla and the main Social Media channels Experience required At least 2 years on-line marketing experience Previous experience managing pay-per-click campaigns, ideally hands-on Circumstances Although this post is based in one location, it will be necessary for you to travel between sites in the course of your work therefore an ability and willingness to travel is essential.

5 Faculty of Enterprise Conditions of Service Contract: Annual Leave: Hours of Employment: Salary: Probationary Period: Location: Smoking: Termination: Medical Report: DBS Check: References: Appointment subject to: Pension: Representation: Car Allowances: Additional Employment: Fixed Term Contract Full time leave entitlement is 24 days per annum. (Adjusted accordingly for part time roles) Standard public holidays are in addition to this. The leave year runs from 1 st September to 31 st August. 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. 25,739 to 30,358 per annum. Salaries are paid monthly on the last working day of the month. You will be required to have an account with a bank or building society, which can accept a direct credit transfer. 6 months. Staff are required to work on any site as required. A No Smoking Policy is in operation throughout the College. 1 month s written notice on either side. Upon appointment, you will be required to complete a Medical Questionnaire and may be required to undergo a medical examination. An enhanced DBS check is required for all posts within the College before you start work. The appointment is subject to two references, which are satisfactory to us. The conditions of service for Support Staff as recommended by the College s Employer s Forum as adopted by the College s Governing Body. A pension scheme is in operation through the Local Government Pension Scheme, but persons appointed may make their own arrangements. The contribution rate for the LGPS is variable between 5.5% and 7.5% of your Gross salary, dependent on your earnings, deducted on a monthly basis. The College recognises UNISON as the appropriate Trade Union for raising matters of staff concern. A staff travel and subsistence policy is in operation at the College and staff travelling between sites and on College business can claim a mileage rate for using their car. The College does not operate a car loan scheme. Staff are not allowed to engage as an employee, consultant, partner, proprietor or director in any other business without the prior written consent of the Principal.
