About On The Fringe: the documentary On the Fringe is a feature-length documentary that will be filmed over the course of a fourmonth Canadian Fringe Festival tour. Driving the project is Nancy Kenny, taking her hit onewoman show Roller Derby Saved My Soul on the road from May to September 2014. She will be performing the show in nine cities across Canada and, when not on stage, with the help of her team, she will be gathering footage for On the Fringe. The documentary footage will be captured in Ottawa, London, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, and everywhere along the way! The film hopes to give audiences a taste of what life is like on the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit; the highs, the lows, the friendships, the drama, the elation of a sold out performance and the fear and dread that no one might come, for all artists involved. The documentary will be submitted to various film festivals and sold for theatrical and online distribution. Be a part of this amazing experience about life On the Fringe! What is a Fringe Festival? The Fringe is Canada s largest unjuried theatre festival where 100% of ticket sales go directly back to the artist. All artists, chosen by a lottery system, are given a venue and basic technical requirements needed to produce their show. Though the concept of Fringe originates in Edinburgh (Sct), Canada now has the most festivals per capita. Every major city in the country has a Fringe Festival. The Fringe is a great source for both new and experienced artists alike to showcase new work and tour plays in development. 2013 Canadian Fringe Festival Attendance London Ottawa Montreal Toronto Winnipeg Calgary Edmonton Victoria Vancouver 30,000 13,400 62,000 90,000 101,511 8,822 18,750 32,463 738,865 0 200,000 400,000 600,000 800,000 Meet Nancy Kenny A twelve-year veteran of the Fringe Festival scene, Nancy Kenny is a fluently bilingual actor, writer, producer with over ten years of social media and arts marketing experience.
