The National Mental Health Intelligence Network (NMHIN) (based at Public Health England) is leading the project to improve data and evidence on the whole care pathway for mental health crisis. Mind is recruiting a Senior Data Analyst role to provide additional support for that project and to develop the Crisis Care Concordat data, metrics, and profile. This project seeks to identify and monitor key success metrics for crisis care across England. As Senior Data Analyst, it will be your responsibility to obtain, code, validate, analyse, interpret, and report data for this project. You will also work with other members of Mind s Strategy and Insight team to engage people with lived experience of mental health problems to help define suitable measures of success. An important part of this role will be working through local Concordat groups to gain and maintain local data sources and evidence, including people s experiences of using mental health crisis care services. This will involve liaising with local stakeholders and networks and visiting local partners to identify suitable data and initiate sharing processes. You will be supported in this engagement work by Mind colleagues. You will work with the NMHIN to develop fingertips reporting tools and provide analytical support for monthly project group meetings held at the Department of Health. You will also benefit from technical expertise, support, and management from the team at NMHIN. This post would be suitable for someone on a secondment.

Scope of the job Reporting to the Head of Strategic Planning and Governance, you will be a member of the Strategy and Insight Team at Mind. This group have a cross-organisational remit and are responsible for research, evaluation, strategy, planning, and organisational governance. You will also work closely with the Crisis Care Concordat Lead, also based at Mind. You will divide your time between responsibilities to Mind and NMHIN, at 2.5 days per week each. Given the varying demands of projects, the exact time spent on NMHIN and Mind work may vary week to week, and will be flexible depending on workload and priorities. Crucial to the role will be the requirement to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and establish partnership working. You will work collaboratively with staff across Mind and the NMHIN. You will also work with other stakeholders and external contacts. In particular, local Minds and Crisis Care Concordat partners. Mind aims to ensure that the needs and interests of mental health service users, women, black and minority ethnic communities, disabled people, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and people of all ages are reflected in all its activities. You are expected to contribute to this aim. Key responsibilities 1. Lead on key data analysis projects which contribute to Mind s strategic objectives. This will involve primary and secondary research. 2. Provide analytical support to the crisis care data team at the National Mental Health Intelligence Network. 3. Gain and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of crisis care data sources. 4. Develop and maintain systems to obtain, code, validate, analyse, interpret, and report data from multiple sources carefully reviewing and reporting on data quality. 5. Facilitate meaningful and ethical involvement of people with experience of mental health problems in order to inform our research and evaluation projects. 6. Liaise with local stakeholders and networks to gain and maintain local data sources. This will include visits to local partners to identify suitable data and initiate sharing processes. 7. Share innovative and good practice across local Concordat areas and encourage local stakeholders to improve their data collection. 8. Provide ongoing support to and attend the meetings of the Crisis Care Concordat project group, convened monthly at the Department of Health.

9. Present sophisticated data analysis for different audiences and purposes, making use of appropriate formats and media, including the Crisis Care Concordat website. 10. Undertake user-testing to ensure that data reporting tools are engaging and suitable for their intended audiences. 11. Maintain the confidentiality and security of all communications and data handled, adhering to the policies and procedures for information governance. 12. Provide training and capacity building for staff across Mind, including training in how to conduct data analysis projects in line with Mind s Impact Framework. EXPECTATIONS 1. Keep abreast of internal and external developments and respond accordingly. 2. Attend and contribute to supervision and appraisal process, meetings, training, and other events as required. 3. Adhere to relevant legal and statutory requirements including the Data Protection Act (ensuring an appropriate level of confidentiality at all times), Health and Safety at Work Act (ensuring H&S of own and others at all times), and any other relevant legislation and regulation. 4. Travel to meetings in England and Wales, which may require the need to work unsociable hours e.g. attending evening or weekend meetings or for overnight stay. 5. Mind Person specification: Senior Data Analyst Essential criteria 1. Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience. 2. Extensive knowledge of quantitative methods, and their application in different settings including theory driven approaches. 3. Experience of using statistical methodologies for interpreting complex data sets, drawing actionable learning. 4. Experience of independently devising and conducting data analysis projects. 5. Experience of project management, including planning and costing projects to meet agreed targets and timescales. 6. Extensive working knowledge of desktop and data analytics/ statistical software. 7. Excellent communication skills, including experience of explaining complex data insights to different audiences. 8. Ability to complete multiple simultaneous tasks across a range of different functions, such as research, analysis, reporting, monitoring, presentation, negotiation, and networking. 9. Ability to quickly establish personal credibility and to develop and maintain effective strategic relationships with organisations and individuals with differing perspectives and agendas. 10. Ability to plan and manage own workload, handling competing priorities and tight deadlines. 11. Ability to think creatively and strategically and see the big picture. 12.
