Grade C of Mind s salary bands. 35 hours per week Length of contract Permanent Purpose of the job Stratford, East London We re Mind, the mental health charity. We won t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. The purpose of this job is to promote and distribute Mind s information products and to implement marketing campaigns to increase the reach of the information. Scope of the job You will be primarily carrying out market research, implementing digital marketing campaigns, managing day to day fulfilment and distribution contracts and developing relationships with Mind retail and local Minds. Mind aims to ensure that the needs and interests of mental health service users, women and black and minority ethnic communities, disabled people and lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and people of all ages are reflected in all its activities. You will be expected to contribute to this aim. Key responsibilities 1. To carry out market research into potential audiences to inform information product development - identifying audience segments, information needs and access preferences (digital or print). 2. To analyse previous sales and distribution trends, and responses to marketing campaigns to contribute to proposals and discussions as part of product development. 3. To support the Senior Sales and Marketing Officer to develop an annual marketing plan and to take responsibility for delivering agreed campaigns (digital and print) to achieve sales and distribution targets. 4. To working closely with the communications team to ensure information market research informs wider content marketing and search marketing programmes Digital Marketing Officer JD and PS Grade C Page 1 of 5
2 5. To oversee the design, delivery and analysis of feedback forms and surveys with information users to better understand satisfaction levels and impact 6. To design, create and produce innovative marketing materials and messages, liaising with the communications team as guided by the Senior Sales and Marketing Officer. 7. To have day to day contact with fulfilment house and printers, setting print runs, monitoring stock levels and dealing with escalations of difficult orders. 8. To support the Senior Sales and Marketing office to deliver schemes to distribute information to the Mind network: carry out administration associated with placing orders, and monitor and collect feedback from local Minds and Mind shops receiving free information products 9. To work closely with Senior Sales and Marketing Officer and fundraising to identify and distribute information to people in need 10. To work collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation to ensure information products and content are promoted and cross-referenced in relevant work programmes. 11. Ensuring that web pages that relate to print publications are updated as necessary, particularly product descriptions in Mind s online shop. To work with Information Manager to develop user journeys to and from the Mind shop. 12. Handling queries from external organisations about copyright in relation to Mind s publications, and negotiating with them on prices and terms. 13. Dealing tactfully and sensitively with people particularly those experiencing mental distress. 14. To undertake other duties that may from time to time be necessary, that are compatible with the nature and grade of this post. Expectations A) To attend and contribute to team meetings, supervision and appraisal process. B) To ensure that all responsibilities and activities within this post are consistent with the terms and spirit of Mind s Equal Opportunities Policy. C) To attend and contribute to Mind staff training and any other training identified as appropriate for the post. D) To occasionally travel to meetings in England and Wales, which may require the need for an overnight stay. E) To occasionally work unsociable hours, for example attending evening or weekend meetings or travel outside London. F) To maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality at all times. 3 Mind (National Association for Mental Health) Person specification: Digital Marketing Officer (External Relations Department) Essential criteria 1. Demonstrable experience in a digital marketing or communications role, to include planning and delivering digital campaigns, achieving desired targets and reporting on impact. 2. Demonstrable experience conducting market research to understand potential audiences, and proven ability to present results clearly and succinctly to inform product development and future campaigns 3. Demonstrable experience of evaluating user satisfaction and impact of a project or product, using a range of techniques. 4. Proven ability to write and edit highly engaging copy for different audiences across online communications. 5. Proven ability to design effective marketing materials as part of wider brand and marketing campaigns 6. Understanding of digital environment and a range of communication tools and approaches, including web analytics, SEO, PPC, information architecture and user experience 7. Excellent IT skills, including using Content Management Systems (particularly the retail functions), marketing systems and social media tools. 8. Demonstrable experience of working with print products, of negotiating with external suppliers including printers and distribution houses. 9. Proven ability to liaise with others and work as part of a team. 10. Demonstrable attention to detail, and ability to manage product stock levels in response to supply and demand. 11. Ability to organise own workload and work on own initiative, with demonstrable skills in prioritizing and working efficiently. 12. Commitment to and understanding of Mind s mission and values and to be able to incorporate this into the work 13. Ability to deal sensitively and diplomatically with a variety of people, including people in distress Desirable criteria 1. Direct or indirect experience of mental health problems. 2. 4 Mind (National Association for Mental Health) Additional information Digital Marketing Officer Interview and travel expenses Mind is prepared to pay travel expenses for those asked to attend an interview to a maximum of 175. However, the cheapest form of travel must always be used other than in exceptional circumstances in which case the agreement of the Head of Human Resources must be sought. Conditions of employment In the light of legislation [Section 8 Asylum and Immigration Act, January 1997], as a condition of being able to commence employment with Mind, the successful candidate will be required to provide documentation to prove that they are able to work in the UK. Such documents will include one or more of the following, as appropriate: National Insurance number Birth certificate or British passport Certificate of registration, or naturalisation as a British citizen Passport or documentation evidencing citizenship of an EEA country Probation The appointment is subject to a probation period of six months Salary Grade C of Mind's salary scales. Starting salary 24,426 per annum plus 2,962 per annum geographical weighting, followed by five annual increments to 29,219 per annum. Increments will be subject to annual review in accordance with Mind s procedures. Hours of work/flexible working hours A standard 35 hours per week within 8.00am to 7.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding one hour break for lunch. Mind operates a flexible working hours scheme whereby members of staff can vary the time they start and finish work within the parameters agreed by their line managers. However, the core period of 10.00am to 4.00pm (excluding lunch break) are the times during which you must be at work. Time off will be given for work outside the standard hours. Overtime is not payable.
