1 Developing Health and Independence JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: NJC Point: Hours: Scale Annual Leave: Location: Pension: Accountable to: Responsible for: Criminal Justice Worker Pt 22-27, 19,621-22,958 (depending on experience) hours per week, working according to rota, including evenings and weekends 26 days (pro rata) plus statutory and bank holidays (1 Additional day after each year of service, up to a maximum of 31days). The Beehive, Beehive Yard, Bath (or any other location your Employer may reasonably specify) Contributory pension scheme (employer s contribution 7% to a minimum 3% contribution from employee). Criminal Justice Team Leader Principle Purpose of the Job The post holder will work as part of the Criminal Justice Team and in close partnership with Avon Probation Service and the Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service to deliver treatment packages for drug and alcohol users on a community based order (e.g. DRR, ATR or Impact) as well as those who wish to engage voluntarily under the Drug Intervention Programme. The post holder will undertake duties, including identification and assessment of offenders suitability for treatment, key working and drug testing. The post holder will work closely with the Recovery services and a wide range of other agencies to ensure that clients receive a full and comprehensives package of support. Key Duties and Responsibilities Operational Duties 1. To attend Police Custody suites as required to proactively offer criminal justice treatment services to detainees wishing to address their drug using behavior voluntarily, and to assess and refer clients into treatment.

To receive referrals from other agencies, including Prison and Probation services, and undertake assessments on substance misusing clients who are offenders to determine their needs and suitability to participate in a structured treatment programme. 3. To provide assessment reports to inform Probation as to the assessment findings and decision. 4. To develop and implement effective, individual care packages with offenders, sentenced to a community rehabilitation order, and with other DIP clients which will address their specific needs. 5. To liaise closely with Probation Officer as to the offenders/clients suitability and response to treatment, including assessment of progress. 6. To facilitate 1-1 key work sessions for those on community rehabilitation order and those receiving 1-1 brief intervention work, and co-ordinate individual care packages. 7. To ensure continuity of care for clients and advocate on their behalf to enable them to access and benefit from the support of other relevant agencies. 8. To undertake supervised urine/saliva testing. 9. To identify changes in the offenders/clients needs and to adapt and develop the individual care packages/programme to best meet these needs. 10. To work closely with other agencies and Criminal Justice Workers within B&NES to ensure a co-ordinated approach to care planning and criminal justice work. Monitoring and Administration 1. Keep full and accurate records, produce statistical and analytical information for monitoring purposes and carry out all necessary administration in relation to casework. 2. To report any breaches of community rehabilitation orders conditions, as per the Home Office National Standards, within an agreed time frame, to the relevant Probation Officer. 3. To carry out any other duties necessary to the smooth running of the project 4. Prepare and present clear verbal / written reports as required. At all times adhere to contract requirements, relevant legislation, good practice, with specific reference to: The DoH Drug Misuse and Dependence Guidelines on Clinical Management; Ethical Framework for Good Practice NTA, NICE. Participate in the organisational planning processes and contribute to the establishment of DHI s business plan. Contribute to the periodic review of service policies and procedures. NB. This job description contains only the main accountabilities relating to the post and does not describe in detail all the duties required to carry them out. 4 Criminal Justice Worker PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential: Considerable experience of working within the area of substance misuse in particular within the criminal justice system Experience of managing a client caseload, care planning, delivering evidence based psychosocial interventions and providing group work Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders to meet the needs of service users An understanding of national treatment targets and the ability to work within a target driven environment and meet them Knowledge and commitment to Adult and Child Safeguarding principles and procedures Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team Excellent communication and liaison skills (written and verbal) Excellent level of IT literacy in Word, Excel and databases DESIRABLE Professional Qualification in Health and/or Social Care
