1 Job Description - Relationship Development Manager Dementia Friends Main Purpose of job: Leads on and manages the relationships with key organisations across private, public and third sector. Manages the delivery of the programme to a wide audience to ensure Dementia Friends achieves its objectives. Provide support to the Programme Manager as appropriate. Position in the organisation: Line manages the External Team Coordinator. Reports to the Dementia Friends Programme Manager. Member of the External Affairs team. Liaises closely with other teams and directorates across the Society and external contacts at all levels. Leads on relationship development for businesses across Dementia Friends and Dementia Friendly Communities. Dimensions and limitations of authority: Plans and manages the relationship development programme. Responsible and accountable for managing relationships with external organisations involved in Dementia Friends across all sectors. Responsible and accountable for setting the strategy for business engagement across Dementia Friends and Dementia Friendly Communities. Close liaison with CEO s Business Manager, Head of Community Engagement and Head of Fundraising. Duties and key responsibilities: Plan and manage relationship development during the course of the Dementia Friends programme Work with the Dementia Friends management team to ensure the target of 3 million Friends by Develop demand for Dementia Friends in large organisations by selling in the programme to identified targets in public, private, corporate and third sectors. Represent the DF programme to a wide range of organisations, including at a senior / board level. Liaise closely with colleagues in Dementia Friends team to ensure smooth transition to delivery phase for these organisations. Ensure all large organisations who sign up to the programme receive a first class customer experience.
2 Ensure the Dementia Friends offer is aligned with the Society s Dementia Friendly Communities programme and other significant dementia-related developments in England Develop tailored communications to ensure organisations keep up to date with programme developments. To prepare a plan for 15/16 to achieve 350,000 Dementia Friends through corporate organisations, 70,000 through Health and Social Care Organisations and 60,000 through engagement with local and central Government. Build a wider Alzheimer s Society offer to organisations Engage organisations in wider AS activities such as Memory walk, Dementia Awareness Week, training and employee fundraising. Lead on communications plan for suggested internal communications for organisations to tie in with Alzheimer s Society activities. To work closely with other Alzheimer s Society teams, including Training and Consultancy and Corporate Partnerships, to identify appropriate times to link contacts into these areas. Line management Line manage External Team Coordinator, including the undertaking of annual reviews, identifying development opportunities and supporting and motivating them to provide excellent service to external stakeholders at all times. Support the recruitment and supervision of staff and volunteers as required. Develop and implement a contact strategy Lead on the strategic oversight regarding key organisations to contact across Dementia Friends and Dementia Friendly Communities, ensuring that the Head of Community Engagement is kept update with progress. Influence colleagues across the organisation to secure introductions and ensure a joined up experience for external stakeholders. Contribute to the identification of targets working with colleagues in other directorates to gain insight and contacts Maintain appropriate information management systems. This will include: contact management; the collection, storage and reporting of management information as required Maintain appropriate information management systems. Monitor coverage across the three sectors and develop relationships with key stakeholders including Local Government and Department of Health. Develop and implement a Dementia Friends offer to public, private and third sectors Develop and revise collateral for initial and subsequent meetings Develop and maintain the organisation pages of the website to ensure engagement is straightforward through this channel Identify any gaps in the process to manage contacts and liaise with the Programme Manager to develop appropriate resources.
3 Contribute to the development of the website and other communications as required. Develop individual offers and rollout plans to meet needs and targets of different audiences. Marketing and PR Develop new contacts through research and PR opportunities, working closely with the Press team. Identify Marketing opportunities building on the current marketing material that is available. To prepare a timeline of activity to build press opportunities around such as small business week. To identify key business spokespeople within corporates to lead on press activity for the business. Reporting To provide ongoing monitoring reports and briefings to the Dementia Friends Programme Manager and Head of Community Engagement. To provide ongoing reports for organisations to highlight their progress towards their targets. To contribute to budget reforecasts as required To contribute to Dementia Friends numbers reforecasts as required To contribute to the overall Dementia Friends business plan. Additional Responsibilities To adhere to all the Society s service standards, policies and procedures. To comply with the data protection regulations, ensuring that information on clients remains confidential. To be responsible for personal learning and development, to support the learning and development of others and the whole organisation. To work in a manner that facilitates inclusion, particularly of people with dementia. To implement the Society s health and safety policy and procedures, ensuring that all practices and procedures are undertaken in accordance with a healthy and safe working environment and that all staff and volunteers for whom you may be responsible are aware of their responsibilities in respect of their role, monitoring data and recommending action as required. To administrate and organise own work to ensure that it is accurate and meets quality targets, reasonable deadlines and reporting requirements. To follow the Society s management information guidelines and requirements, including ensuring appropriate monthly measures on service usage levels are collected and submitted on the services database or other systems in accordance with deadlines.

Education and qualifications Degree level, or equivalent (desired) Marketing or business qualification (desired) Skills and experience Significant experience of working in relationship development roles in private, public or third sector Experience of making presentations at board level Experience of account management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience of working in complex projects across a diverse organisation Strong organisational and administrative skills Strong IT skills Experience of managing and developing people Excellent interpersonal, presentation, promotional and communication skills Experience of negotiating and influencing others who may have different priorities to achieve shared goals, at a senior level. Working knowledge of voluntary, corporate and public sectors* Personal attributes/qualities Ambitious, innovative, self-motivated and target driven. Able to show empathy for people affected by dementia. Trustworthy, patient and a good relationship builder. Enjoys working as part of a team and collaborating with others.
