ACOSS National Conference 2016 Sponsorship Opportunities 17 18 November Sydney Australian Council of Social Service
ACOSS National Conference 2016 Each year hundreds of representatives from civil society gather at the ACOSS Conference to engage in a meeting of minds. Thought leaders, policy makers, political leaders, social innovators, practitioners, academics, community leaders, social justice advocates, and people with lived experience of poverty and inequality come together from across the country. The ACOSS conference also attracts a range of high profile national and international speakers. In 2015, ACOSS Conference speakers included Linda Tirado (renowned US journalist and activist), Bill Shorten (leader of the ALP), Richard Di Natale (Leader of the Australian Greens), Scott Morrison (Federal Minister for Social Services), Maha Abdo (Muslim Women s Association), Les Malezer (Co-Chair National Congress of Australia s First Peoples), Catherine Yeomans (CEO Mission Australia), Marcelle Mogg (CEO of Catholic Social Services), Phil Edmands (MD Rio Tinto), and Simon Chappel (University of Dunedin). Session facilitators included Jane Caro, Geraldine Doogue (ABC TV s Compass Program), Anton Enus (SBS World News), Paul Barclay (ABC Big Ideas), Walkley Award winning journalist Michael West (Fairfax Media), and Patricia Karvelas (ABC RN Drive). Live conference streaming, an interactive conference app, and a live Twitter feed ensures that the conversation extends beyond the physical space and engages thousands of civil society contributors across Australia. ACOSS runs paperless events and works with venues that have sound sustainability policies. We welcome support from sponsors and supporters to sustain this approach. 2

It also supports the staff of small or volunteer community organisations to attend and participate fully in the event. Bursary contributions of $2,000 or more can be added to the bursary pool or take the form of a stand alone scholarship provided by your company. Align your contribution with your company s 2016 social responsibility priorities by creating a targeted scholarship for people with disability, young people, people from refugee and asylum seeker communities, small unfunded community sector organisations, people from regional and remote communities or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities. We wanted to thank you ACOSS, once again, for helping me attend this year s conference. There is no way that I would have been able to attend without your support. The conference was very stimulating and rewarding, and has given me plenty to reflect upon.
