FLIP-FLOP A FLIP-FLOP is a device that changes state each time it is switched in the same direction. Press the switch, the clock goes to 0 volts (logical 0). Release the switch, the clock goes to 5 volts (logical 1). The output (Q) changes state on each 1 to 0 transition of the clock. A flip-flop basically divides the clock by 2.
