3 OVERVIEW Mbile Device Manager (MDM) prvides cmplete mbility management slutins fr Windws Phne 8 enterprise deplyments. MDM enables cmpanies t manage crprate, emplyee- wned, r shared Windws Phne 8 devices thrughut the entire mbile lifecycle. Enrlling yur device in MDM enables a cmpletely secure cnnectin t internal resurces and ensures yur mbile activity is safe and encrypted. This guide describes the basic features f the Agent fr Windws Phne 8, hw t enrll yur Windws Phne 8 int MDM, and a few f the key benefits yu will experience upn enrllment. SUPPORTED DEVICES MDM supprts all devices running the Windws Phne 8 (Apll) perating system, including: Nkia 820 l Nkia 920 HTC 8X HTC 8S NOTE: Please keep in mind that Windws Phne 8 is Micrsft's perating system designed fr smartphnes, which is distinct frm Windws 8 and Windws RT, which are designed fr PCs and tablets respectively. Althugh they will all share the "Mdern UI," they are each a unique perating system. SYSTEM CAPABILITIES As sn as yur device cmpletes the enrllment prcess, MDM can enable yur device with: Enterprise and EAS Extending cmpany management t yur device, with secure message cmmunicatin. Device encryptin Maximizing the security f all device activity, including s, texts, dwnlads, and Internet activity. Passwrd plicy enfrcement Enabling prtectin f yur device and cntent in the event that it gets lst r stlen. Device wipe Prviding the ability t wipe yur device f enterprise- nly cntent r f all device cntent, resetting yur device t its factry settings. SD card enfrcement Allwing the ability t enable r disable SD card functin. In additin t these new capabilities, yur device may nw begin t peridically reprt the fllwing infrmatin t the Admin Cnsle: Asset infrmatin such as device name, UDID, mdel and mdel number, manufacturer, OS build and versin, cellular carrier netwrk, battery status, and available memry. GPS and tracking infrmatin such as lcatin status with time stamps. (This feature can be disabled by the end- user.) 2

4 ENROLLMENT AND ACTIVATION Enabling yur device with MDM capabilities requires nly a few simple steps. Perfrm the steps listed belw t enrll and activate yur Windws Phne 8. These steps are explained in detail with screenshts after the belw prcess verview: NOTE: Please cmplete all steps belw befre cntacting yur administratr fr assistance. PROCESS OVERVIEW 1. Dwnlad the agent frm Windws Phne Stre. 2. Identify yur MDM envirnment and crprate rle. 3. Authenticate yur device by entering yur crprate credentials. 4. Add MDM as an apprved cmpany app in the Cmpany Apps sectin f yur device's System Settings. VERIFY PREREQUISITES Befre starting the enrllment prcess, yur administratr shuld have sent yu an enrllment URL, Grup ID, username, and passwrd via an r text message t yur device. If yu have nt received this infrmatin, cntact yur administratr. Windws Live ID: Required t dwnlad the agent frm the Windws Phne Stre (this is nt prvided by yur administratr). Enrllment URL: The URL where yur grup s MDM activity is hsted. Grup ID: The grup that hsts yur device and user infrmatin. User Credentials: Yur unique username and passwrd required fr lgin. DOWNLOAD THE AGENT Open the Windws Phne Stre and search fr "MDM agent. Once yu ve lcated the current agent, install and pen the app n yur device. 3

5 IDENTIFY YOUR MDM ENVIRONMENT AND CORPORATE ROLE Once yu ve pened the agent, yu re prmpted with the initial enrllment screen. Enter yur Hst Name and Grup ID t begin the enrllment prcess and select [Next]. AUTHENTICATE YOUR DEVICE BY ENTERING YOUR CORPORATE CREDENTIALS Prceed t the Username and Passwrd screen, enter yur crprate lgin credentials, and select [Next]. Optinally, submit yur device infrmatin n the fllwing Device Infrmatin screen by including the phne number assciated with the device and the current carrier. If yu are enrlling a persnal device fr crprate use, select Emplyee Owned. If yur device is wned by yur cmpany, select Crprate Dedicated. 4

6 After entering yur lgin infrmatin, yu're presented with a Micrsft Push Ntificatin Services (MPNS) message. Accept the message t allw access t MPNS and prceed t the Authenticatin Success page. Nw that yu've reached the Enrllment Success page, cpy the prvided Temprary Passwrd. Yu will enter this passwrd in the Cmpany Apps page in the next step. 5

7 ADD MDM AS AN APPROVED COMPANY APP 1. Access the Cmpany Apps sectin f yur device Settings area by navigating t Settings > Systems > Cmpany Apps. 2. Enter yur enterprise address alng with the cpied temprary passwrd. 3. Click [Sign In]. Yur device shuld nw be enrlled and authenticated with MDM. If yu receive a Failure message, prceed t the next step. If the credentials aren't immediately accepted, the Lgin screen will present additinal fields t enrll the device. 4. Return t the agent and cpy the server URL prvided n the Authenticatin Success page. 6

8 5. Return t the Cmpany Apps page and enter the server URL int the bttm Server field. 6. Leave the Username and Dmain fields blank and select the [Sign In] buttn. Once yu've submitted the MDM server URL, yu'll receive the successful Accunt Additin screen. Yur device shuld nw be fully enrlled and authenticated in MDM. (Enrllment may take a few minutes t fully register with the MDM server.) 7

9 USING THE AGENT The Windws Phne 8 agent is specifically designed fr yur device and allws several key self- service features and actins. As sn as yu pen the agent, the Dashbard prvides a quick rute t what yu need when yu need it. Frm the Dashbard, yu're able t: Access Applicatins: Access and dwnlad internal r public apps made available by yur administratr. View My Device: View yur device details such as MDM credential infrmatin, services, user infrmatin, enrllment status, and phne mdel and OS details. View Device Health: Access cnnectivity tests, cnfigure integratin settings, view Help and FAQ infrmatin, and access the Supprt sectin. Review Ntificatins: Read messages frm yur administratr such as alerts t new cntent updates and availability. Cnfigure Settings: Cnfigure MDM settings and view enrllment details. ACCESS APPLICATIONS Frm the main Applicatins page, access apps and cntent that are cmpany featured and newly available. Additinally, brwse apps and cntent by categry in the Categries sectin, r view yur favrite apps in the My Apps sectin. View any available apps accrding t: Cmpany Featured: Access internal apps highlighted by yur cmpany. New: View newly available apps. Categry: Srt and view all available apps by categry. Cmpany Apps: View all available enterprise apps. My Apps: Dwnlad and manage persnal apps. 8

10 VIEW MY DEVICE MDM DETAILS View yur current MDM details by navigating t the My Device sectin. The available infrmatin includes: Device Cmpliant: Shws whether yur device is in r ut f cmpliance accrding t administratr cmpliance settings. Device Enrlled: Shws yur device's enrlled status with MDM. Device Cnnected: Shws current Internet cnnectivity. My Lcatin: Shws current GPS lcatin f device. My User Inf: Shws current user infrmatin. VIEW DEVICE HEALTH CONNECTION DETAILS The Device Health page prvides an verview f all ther device cnnectin infrmatin, including: Cnnected t MDM: Shws current cnnectin t MDM. Push Ntificatins: Shws enabled r disabled status f Windws Push Ntificatin Services. Internet Cnnectin: Shws current Internet cnnectin. WiFi Cnnected: Shws current WiFi cnnectin. Battery Status: Shws the device's current battery charge. 9

11 REVIEW NOTIFICATIONS The Ntificatins screen shws messages sent t yur device frm yur cmpany and administratr. These messages may include new app update annuncements, cmpany meeting infrmatin, ut- f- cmpliance warnings, and cmpany annuncements. CONFIGURE SETTINGS The Settings page requires an admin passcde and allws yu t view and cnfigure MDM settings n yur device. After entering yur admin passcde (if prvided by yur administratr), yu can: View: Grup: Shws current grup in which yur device is enrlled. DM URL: Shws current device management URL assciated with enrllment. User: Shws current user assciated with yur device. Shws current assciated yur enrllment. Versin: Shws current versin f agent installed n yur device. Privacy Statement: Opens the current Privacy Statement, including infrmatin regarding Lcatin Services and Push Ntificatins. Cnfigure: Lcatin Services: Enable r disable Lcatin Services and GPS tracking n yur device. Push Ntificatins Services: Enable r disable Push Ntificatin Services n yur device. 10
