4 Intrductin 4 1 INTRODUCTION This dcument describes the prcedures t install the Live Maps Unity Prtal. 1.1 SUPPORTED SYSTEMS The Live Maps Unity Prtal is a fast and mdern, HTML5-based dashbarding tl fr System Center Operatins Manager. View and respnd t the state f yur IT infrastructure n a desktp, tablet, r mbile phne. The Live Maps Unity Prtal requires an installatin f System Center Operatins Manager 2012 r higher, IIS 7.5 r higher, and a mdern web brwser. Supprted web brwsers include: ios 7.1+ Andrid 5+ (Lllipp) Chrme (latest) Firefx (latest) Safari fr Mac (latest) Internet Explrer (latest) Yu may be able t view the dashbards in ther web brwsers, hwever sme cntent and functinality may be degraded. 1.2 CONTACTING SAVISION Fr additinal infrmatin, g t r supprt@savisin.cm.

5 5 2 INSTALLATION 2.1 PREREQUISITES The Live Maps Unity Prtal will install int an existing IIS web site as either the rt applicatin r a child applicatin. Befre running the Live Maps Unity Prtal installer, make sure that the IIS server t be used has an existing web site. Please see yur IIS Administratr if yu require assistance in cnfiguring a new web site. The Live Maps Unity Prtal can be installed int a website with https r http bindings. We recmmend yu use a secure binding t prtect yur mnitred data and credentials. The Live Maps Unity Prtal retrieves infrmatin frm System Center Operatins Manager, the Operatins Manager peratinal database and the Operatins Manager data warehuse. Ensure that a netwrk rute exists frm the IIS server t ne r mre f yur Operatins Manager management servers, the peratinal database, and the data warehuse. Please see yur Netwrk Administratr if yu require assistance cnfiguring and securing netwrk rutes. While the Live Maps Unity Prtal uses the credentials f the currently signed in user t authenticate t Operatins Manager, it uses a fixed set f credentials, specified in the applicatin pl, t query data frm the Operatins Manager databases. Either create r use a dmain user that has read access t bth the Operatins Manager peratinal database and data warehuse using Windws authenticatin. Please see yur Active Directry and SQL Server Administratrs if yu require assistance in creating this dmain user. Nte that the applicatin pl used by Live Maps Unity must be.net 4 r greater, running in Integrated Mde, and have its identity set t the dmain user described abve. The installer will create an apprpriate applicatin pl fr yu if ne des nt already exist.

6 CHECKLIST System Center Operatins Manager IIS 7.5+ ASP.NET 4.5 rle Fr Windws Server 2008 / 2008 R2,.NET 4.5 must be dwnladed frm the Micrsft Dwnlad Center Als ensure the Cmmn HTTP feature Static Cntent is enabled via the Select Rle Services f the Add Features wizard in the Features nde in Server Manager. Fr Windws Server 2012,.NET 4.5 is available as a server rle. Open Server Manager On the main Dashbard page, select Add Rles and Features In the wizard n the Server Rles page, select Web Server (IIS)\Web Server\Applicatin Develpment\ASP.NET 4.5 If prmpted, add the required assciated features. These will likely include ISAPI Filters and Extensins, Request Filtering, and.net Extensibility 4.5, if thse rles are nt already installed. Als ensure the Cmmn HTTP Features\Static Cntent rle is selected. T supprt Windws Authenticatin, Web Server (IIS)\Web Server\Security\Windws Authenticatin is als required.

7 7 Cntinue the wizard t cmplete the additin f.net 4.5. Netwrk rutes Existing web site The Live Maps Unity Prtal can either be installed as the rt applicatin r a child applicatin f an existing website. Ensure that a suitable website exists t hst the Live Maps Unity Prtal befre beginning the installatin. IIS t System Center Operatins Manager management server IIS t System Center Operatins Manager peratinal database IIS t System Center Operatins Manager data warehuse Dmain user fr the applicatin pl With read permissins n bth the System Center Operatins Manager peratinal database, and the System Center Operatins Manager data warehuse The Live Maps Unity Prtal applicatin pl must use a dmain accunt that is able t authenticate t these servers in rder t retrieve data. Yu may use an existing pl that runs under a dmain accunt with permissins t read frm the tw databases r prvide an apprpriate dmain accunt that the installer can use t create such an applicatin pl.

8 8 The applicatin pl must be.net 4+ and must run in Integrated Mde. T check that yur applicatin is using the crrect authenticatin: Select yur applicatin in the left panel f IIS Server Manager Open Basic Settings frm the Actins menu in the right panel Open Test Settings and ensure that Authenticatin is Pass-thrugh with the apprpriate applicatin pl. The dmain user can be seen beside the applicatin pl name.

9 9 2.2 RUNNING THE INSTALLER Run the installer and fllw the prmpts CHOOSE AUTHENTICATION MODE Yu can specify hw yur users will sign in t the applicatin. If yu select Users must prvide explicit credentials users will be presented with a sign in dialg int which they must enter their user name and passwrd whenever they wish t sign in t Live Maps Unity. The advantage f this mde is that yu dn t need t give every user in yur rganizatin access t System Center Operatins Manager in rder t allw them t use Live Maps Unity. Instead, yu can create a handful f separate accunts that have read-nly access in Operatins Manager and yu can then advertise thse credentials thrughut yur rganizatin. If yu select The credentials f the currently lgged in user are autmatically used users will nt have the pprtunity t prvide a different user name r passwrd when they sign in. Rather, they will always sign in with the credentials that they have used t sign in t their cmputer. Users brwsing frm a device that is nt part f yur rganizatin s Active Directry envirnment will be prmpted fr credentials by their brwser. The advantage f this mde is that the signing in prcess is expedited; this is especially useful when yu publish individual dashbards n SharePint r ther intranet prtals.

10 10 Hwever, when yu enable this mde, yu will als have t cnfigure Kerbers cnstrained delegatin s that the web server n which the Live Maps Unity Prtal is installed can authenticate t System Center Operatins Manager using the credentials f the signed in user. Ensure that yur URL uses the server name (nt the IP address) f the IIS Server that hsts Live Maps Unity if yu chse t authenticate with Windws Authenticatin. Additinal cnfiguratin may be necessary fr individual brwsers t supprt Windws Authenticatin CONFIGURING KERBEROS CONSTRAINED DELEGATION Kerbers cnstrained delegatin enables the web server that the Live Maps Unity Prtal is installed upn t act n behalf f users that have signed int Live Maps Unity. In rder t enable delegatin, yu may need t enlist the assistance f yur Active Directry administratr. Within Active Directry Users and Cmputers lcate the cmputer that hsts the web server n which yu have r intend t install the Live Maps Unity Prtal, chse Prperties and then the Delegatin tab. Pick Trust this cmputer fr delegatin t any service. Then press OK.

11 PROVIDE A DEFAULT MANAGEMENT SERVER When users sign int the Live Maps Unity Prtal, they are prmpted fr the name f a management server n the sign in page. In many cases, the users t whm yu wish t prvide access t Live Maps Unity will nt knw what they shuld fill in. By prviding a Default Management Server yu aut-ppulate the sign in page fr them. If a user changes the name f the management server they wish t sign in t, that chice is remembered fr future use in a ckie. Yu als have the pprtunity t check Enable Express Sign in, if yu have enabled Windws Authenticatin in Chse Authenticatin Mde. Express sign in will immediately sign users int the Live Maps Unity Prtal withut requiring them t fill ut any infrmatin r press a sign in buttn. This is a very handy way t publish individual dashbards thrughut yur rganizatin. Hwever, the ne disadvantage t express sign in is that yur users d nt have the pprtunity t change the name f the management server they are signing int. Yu may nt wish t enable this ptin if yu use the Live Maps Unity Prtal with multiple management grups in yur envirnment. Alternatively, yu may wish t prvisin a separate instance f the Live Maps Unity Prtal fr each management grup.

12 CHOOSE COMPONENTS Yu have the ptin t install the applicatin as the rt applicatin in an existing web site, r as a child applicatin in an existing web site. Chse the ptin that is the best practice fr yur rganizatin.

13 CONFIGURE THE INSTALLATION Yu can use an existing applicatin pl r create ne with a dmain accunt with access t bth the System Center Operatins Manager peratinal database and the System Center Operatins Manager data warehuse. See Checklist fr mre details n the applicatin pl requirements. If a mistake is made while creating an applicatin pl, yu can always use IIS Manager t change the accunt. See yur IIS Administratr fr mre infrmatin. 2.3 ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATION INSTALL THE MANAGEMENT PACK T save yur license and t create yur wn custm dashbards, yu must install a System Center Operatins Manager management pack that is bundled with the applicatin. The Live Maps Unity Prtal saves the custm dashbards yu create int System Center Operatins Manager. It des this by defining a class within Operatins Manager and then discvering instances f that class each time yu save a dashbard.

14 14 In Prgram Files\Savisin\ Live Maps Unity Prtal yu will find a file called Savisin.Dashbards.Library.mp. T imprt the management pack g t the Administratin sectin f System Center Operatins Manager and use the Imprt Management Packs wizard. After the applicatin has been installed a number f additinal steps need t be cmpleted CONFIGURE APPLICATION POOL RECYCLING By default, IIS will recycle the applicatin pl fr the applicatin at regular intervals. Each time the applicatin pl is recycled, users f the Live Maps Unity Prtal will have t lg in again. This may be prblematic in cases where dashbards are meant t be displayed and refreshed ver lng perids f time, fr example n a large display mnitr in a netwrk peratins center. In this situatin, yu may adjust r disable applicatin pl recycling fr the Live Maps Unity Prtal. This can be perfrmed frm IIS Manager.

15 GRANT PERMISSIONS If yu are using a nn-administrative user t sign int the Live Maps Unity Prtal, yu may first need t grant access t the Operatins Manager bjects that the Live Maps Unity Prtal requires t functin. T simplify this prcess, when yu install the Live Maps Unity Prtal management pack, a grup in Operatins Manager is autmatically created that cntains the bjects that the Live Maps Unity Prtal requires access t. The fllwing steps will guide yu thrugh the prcess f setting the grup scpe fr yur user. 1. Frm the Operatins Manager Cnsle, chse "Administratin", then "Security", and then "User Rles." 2. Duble click n the user rle yu wish t edit. 3. Click n the "Grup Scpe" tab. 4. Put a check mark beside the Live Maps Unity Prtal Grup grup.

16 16 5. Click n "Apply." NOTE: This prcedure nly gives the user rle permissins t sign int Live Maps Unity. If yu want the user t view any f the "System Dashbards" it is assumed yu have apprpriately scped their permissins t include the bjects that the dashbard displays. Fr example, if yu wish the user t view the IIS Dashbard it is assumed that yu have granted them permissin t view IIS bjects. If yu wish the user t be able t see a particular custm dashbard, they will need t have access t the bjects within the custm dashbard as well as access t the "Dashbard Definitin (Live Maps Unity Prtal)" bject that defines the custm dashbard. T grant permissin t the dashbard defining bjects, create a new grup cntaining the desired bjects (search fr "Dashbard Definitin (Live Maps Unity Prtal)") in the Authring sectin f the System Center Operatinal Management cnsle, and then grant permissin fr that grup t the user rle SET PAGE REFRESH RATE By default, yur dashbards will refresh autmatically. T cnfigure this time interval, r turn ff autmatic refreshing, g t the Settings page fund in the tp-right cnfiguratin menu. These settings are persisted as ckies; mrever, they nly apply t the brwser instance that they are set in.

17 Additinal Cnsideratins 17 3 ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS 3.1 LOAD BALANCING & HIGH AVAILABILITY Yu may wish t install the Live Maps Unity Prtal acrss multiple IIS web servers fr lad balancing purpses r t prvide high availability. The applicatin supprts this scenari, hwever yu shuld be aware that each time a user cnnects t a new web server they will have t sign int the applicatin again. The lad balancer shuld have the cnnectins set t Sticky s that a given user will always be cmmunicating with the same web server fr the duratin f their sessin. This impacts a high availability scenari where users will be frced t sign in again if their cnnectin fails ver t a different web server. 3.2 MULTIPLE INSTANCES The Live Maps Unity Prtal des nt supprt side by side installatin (mre than ne instance n a single IIS server); hwever, multiple management grups can be mnitred via a single installatin. The management server is specified alng with credentials whenever yu authenticate t the site. Nte that distinct licenses will be required fr each management grup.

18 Upgrading and Remval 18 4 UPGRADING AND REMOVAL 4.1 UPGRADING THE APPLICATION Running the installer fr an upgraded versin will verwrite the existing installatin. Imprt the upgraded management pack int System Center Operatins Manager befre accessing the upgraded site t enable all new features UPGRADING FROM DASHBOARDS BY SAVISION The Live Maps Unity Prtal is a rebranding and imprvement f a previus Savisin prduct called Dashbards by Savisin. If yu have Dashbards by Savisin installed, it is advised that yu uninstall the Dashbards by Savisin web applicatin befre installing the Live Maps Unity Prtal. Yu d nt need, hwever, t remve the Dashbards by Savisin management pack. Yu can simply install the new Live Maps Unity Prtal management pack ver tp f it and all f yur previusly defined custm dashbards will remain. 4.2 REMOVING THE APPLICATION Remving the Live Maps Unity Prtal management pack frm System Center Operatins Manager will permanently delete all f yur saved, custm dashbards. If yu wish t reinstall the applicatin in the future and preserve the dashbards yu have created, DO NOT remve this management pack. Manually remve the applicatin and the applicatin pl yu created frm IIS using IIS Manager. Cnsult yur IIS Administratr fr mre infrmatin. The uninstall utility can be triggered frm the Cntrl Panel r fund in the Savisin\ Live Maps Unity Prtal flder f the apprpriate prgram files flder. This utility will carry ut the remainder f remving the applicatin.
