1 Cnfiguring an Client fr yur Hsting Supprt POP/IMAP mailbx This article lists the settings and prt numbers fr pp and imap cnfiguratins, as well as fr SSL. It cntains instructins fr setting up Outlk and iphne as the clients fr yur hsting accunt POP mailbx, and tutrials fr ther clients. Difference between POP and IMAP settings Unlike POP, IMAP ffers a tw-way cmmunicatin between yur Hsting Supprt mailbx and yur client(s). S, when yu perfrm an actin n yur mailbx, r a message in yur mailbx, it is immediately reflected n the clients and mbile devices and vice versa (ex: if yu lg int yur Hsting Supprt accunt, create a new flder, and put a message int that flder, this change will instantly and autmatically appear in yur client, such as Outlk, and n yur mbile device). Als, if yu are at wrk, and yu begin a message, and save it, it will still be there when yu lg in frm a different client, say frm hme. IMAP prvides a better methd t access yur mail frm multiple devices, say frm wrk, hme, and yur mbile, thrugh tw-way syncing capabilities between yur mail clients and the Hsting Supprt mailbx. Hwever, because IMAP saves all yur messages n the server, be sure frequently clean up yur mailbx, deleting ld messages. Cnfigure server names and prts The Server Names settings are: Incming Mail Server - pp.tmgmajrgrup.cm Outging Mail Server - smtp.tmgmajrgrup.cm where tmgmajrgrup.cm is yur hsting accunt primary dmain, set in DmainCentral Example: Incming: pp.tmgmajrgrup.cm Outging: smtp.tmgmajrgrup.cm The prts are: POP: 110 SMTP: 587 where tmgmajrgrup.cm is yur primary dmain

2 Cnfigure server names and prts fr SSL SSL (Secure Scket Layer) is a prtcl that transmits infrmatin ver the Internet in an encrypted frm fr security purpses. POP/SMTP ver SSL encrypts all data exchanged between yur mail client and the Hsting Supprt mail server with a digital security certificate t prtect yur passwrd and messages. T send and receive securely using SSL, fllw these general steps. Refer t the nline help within yur mail client fr specific instructins n where t set SSL ptins. 1. Use a mail client that supprts SSL. Mst recent versins f mail clients supprt SSL. Sme lder versins d nt. The fllwing clients supprt SSL: Eudra versin 6.1.x and up Outlk Express versin 5 and up Outlk 2000 and up Netscape Messenger versins 4.5 and up Enturage 2001 fr OS 9 and V.X fr OS X Mac OS X Mail versin 1.2x and up Apple Mail Fr clients nt listed, check the nline help fr infrmatin n SSL supprt. 2. In yur mail client, select the incming/receiving mail ptin fr using SSL (such as "Use SSL" r "Use secure cnnectin (SSL)"). Nte: This is nt the same as "Secure authenticatin." Mst clients will set the prt autmatically when yu select the SSL ptin. 3. Make sure that the prt is set t the crrect value: POP: 995 IMAP: Select the utging/sending mail ptin fr using SSL (such as "Use SSL" r "Use secure cnnectin (SSL)"). 5. 4 Cnfigure Outlk as yur Client t access yur POP mailbx (autmated) 1. Lg int MailCentral. 2. Click n the Access link, available fr all eligible pp mailbxes. 3. Click Get Setup Registry File. 4. An utlksetup.reg file is dwnladed t yur desktp. Please save this file. 5. Open r duble-click the utlksetup.reg file. A warning appears, ntifying yu that changes t yur registry will ccur if yu prceed. 6. Click OK n the warning dialg, indicating that yu wish t prceed. A registry warning is displayed, asking if yu wish these new items t be added t yur registry. 7. Click Yes. A dialg is displayed ntifying yu that the changes have been made. 8. Click OK. 9. Open Outlk. A dialg is displayed telling yu that Outlk has detected a new accunt, and asking yu if yu wish t imprt it. 10. Click Yes. A Netwrk Passwrd dialg is displayed. The dialg shws the POP accunt infrmatin, and asks yu t enter yur passwrd. 1. Server - AccuntSupprt's server is listed 2. User - the mailbx yu are cnnecting t Outlk, such as [email protected] 3. Passwrd - enter the mailbx passwrd (the passwrd f the mailbx yu are cnnecting frm yur Hsting Supprt accunt) 4. Save Passwrd - check this bx s that Outlk can save yur mailbx passwrd 11. Click OK.

5 Cnfigure Outlk as yur Client t access yur POP mailbx (manual) The prcess belw adds the POP mailbx as an accunt in yur existing Outlk prfile. 1. Lg int MailCentral. 2. Click Setup. The infrmatin yu need t cnfigure the new accunt (prts and mailservers) is displayed: 3. Open Outlk 4. Select Tls > Accunts Select Add a new accunt, then click Next 6. Select POP3, then click Next 7. Fill ut the input fields as shwn (all infrmatin necessary is in step 2 abve):

6 Yur name: The name yu wish t appear n yur s in the Frm field Address: the address f the mailbx Incming mail server (pp server): see step 2 abve - pp.tmgmajrgrup.cm Outging mail server (smtp server): see step 2 abve - smtp. tmgmajrgrup.cm User name: yur full mailbx name, fr example: first.last@ tmgmajrgrup.cm Passwrd: yur mailbx passwrd

7 8. Click Mre Settings... Select the Outging Server tab Select My Outging Server (SMTP) requires authenticatin 9. Click OK 10. Click Test Accunt Settings. All settings shuld wrk. 11. Click Next, then Finish.

8 Cnfigure yur iphne t access yur POP mail bx T set up an accunt n yur iphne (instructins are based n the iphne 3GS, ther mdels may vary): 1. Frm Dashbard, select Settings 2. Select Mail, Cntacts, Calendars 3. Select Add Accunt Select Other 5. Frm Mail, select Add Mail Accunt 6. Enter the mail accunt infrmatin: 1. Name: the name f the mailbx user - Jhn De 2. Address: yur mailbx address first.last@ tmgmajrgrup.cm 3. Passwrd: the passwrd fr yur mailbx - mypasswrd 4. Descriptin: a shrt descriptin f yur mail accunt, s that yu can identify it later, shuld yu wish t change settings 7. Press Save 8. At the tp f the screen select IMAP 9. Enter the Incming Mail Server details: 1. Hst Name: pp.mydmain.cm (where mydmain.cm is yur dmain, fr example, pp.tmgmajrgrup.cm) 2. User Name: yur mailbx address - first.last@ tmgmajrgrup.cm 3. Passwrd: the passwrd fr the abve mail address (shuld be prefilled) 10. Enter the Outging Mail Server details: 1. Hst Name: the mail server address smtp.tmgmajrgrup.cm 2. User Name: the mailbx address first.last@ tmgmajrgrup.cm 3. Passwrd: the passwrd fr yur mailbx - mypasswrd 11. Press Save 12. Yu may get the fllwing message : The certificate fr SMTP: first.last@ may nt be validated 13. Chse Cntinue 14. If yu get a message that a secure cnnectin cannt be established, chse t cntinue 15. SSL shuld be set t OFF (this is a default setting) 16. The prts will be cnfigured autmatically during the cnnectin prcess, hwever, if yu wish t cnfigure the prts yurself, see the IMAP server names and prts fr the apprpriate prt numbers

9 Cnfigure Apple Mail as yur client (IMAP) T cnfigure Apple Mail, yu need t verify yur primary dmain, and check the IMAP settings fr an client: 1. Verify yur primary dmain 1. Lg int yur cntrl panel, and g t DmainCentral 2. Yur primary dmain is dented by a glbe icn. In this example ur primary dmain is demtutrials.net 2. Start Apple Mail

10 3. Select File > Add Accunt. The Add Accunt wizard pens - it guides yu thrugh this prcess step by step 4. Fill ut the fllwing fields: Full Name - enter the name f the mailbx wner, exactly hw yu want it t appear in the "Frm" field n yur s. Fr example, Jhn Frth Address: enter the full address f yur Hsting Supprt mailbx. In this example, it's [email protected] Passwrd - enter the mailbx passwrd. If yu dn't remember what the passwrd is, g back t MailCentral. Yu can reset mailbx passwrd there.

11 5. Click Cntinue 6. Fr Incming Mail Server, cmplete the fields as fllws: Accunt Type - select IMAP frm the drpdwn Descriptin - enter this accunt descriptin, it will appear in yur Apple Mail accunt list. Yu might wish t make this descriptive, like "Hsting Admin Mailbx" Incming Mail Server - enter imap.tmgmajrgrup.cm, where tmgmajrgrup.cm is the dmain yu verified in the first step. In this case the primary dmain is demtutrials.net, s the incming server is imap.demtutrials.net User Name - enter the full address f yur mailbx (a cmmn mistake is t enter just Administratr, r the name, nt the actual full address) Passwrd - enter the mailbx passwrd (shuld be filled ut already)

12 7. Click Cntinue 8. Fr Outging Mail Server, cmplete the required fields as fllws: Descriptin - enter the same descriptin as in the previus screen Outging Mail Server - the utging mail server is smtp.tmgmajrgrup.cm. In this case, the primary dmain is demtutrials.net, s the setting is: smtp.demtutrials.net Use Authenticatin - check the bx User Name - enter yur full mailbx address first.last@ tmgmajrgrup.cm Passwrd - enter yur mailbx passwrd

13 9. Click Cntinue 10. Check the accunt summary t make sure that all setting were entered crrectly 11. Click Create. Yu are dne! 12. Yur new accunt appears in the list f Mailbxes in yur Apple Mail. Ntice that the mailbx descriptin is displayed
