3 MDM Admin Guide Reprts and Alerts 1 Reprts and Alerts is ne f nine sectins f the verall Admin Guide fr Mbile Device Manager. The fllwing is the cmplete list f MDM Admin Guide cmpnents: MDM Overview and Setup Device Management Prfile Management Gefencing Applicatin Management Cntent Management Management Telecm Management Reprts and Alerts Reprts and Alerts Reprts MDM has extensive reprting capabilities that prvide administratrs with actinable, result-driven statistics abut their device fleets. IT administratrs can leverage these pre-defined reprts r create custm reprts based n specific devices, User Grups, date ranges, r file preferences. In additin, the administratr can schedule any f these reprts fr autmated distributin t a grup f users and recipients n either a defined schedule r a recurring basis. These features are all centralized within the Web Cnsle. T access the Reprts page: Navigate t Reprts & Alerts Reprts. Frm here, there are several key pieces f functinality that administratrs can use t leverage reprting capabilities:
4 MDM Admin Guide Reprts and Alerts 2 Generating Custm Reprts Administratrs can create custm reprts n the fly thrugh Web Cnsle. T generate a custm reprt: 1. Navigate t the Reprts page at Reprts & Alerts Reprts. 2. Select a pre-defined reprt template frm the list and then click the Actins icn n the right and then click View. 3. Specify all f the reprt parameters. Required fields are indicated with a red mark. 4. Select View Reprt. Adding a Reprt t My Reprts Adding a reprt t My Reprts allws administratrs t bkmark ppular reprts that they find particularly useful. T add a reprt t My Reprts: 1. Navigate t the Reprts page at Reprts & Alerts Reprts. 2. Select a pre-defined reprt template frm the list. 3. Click the Actins icn n the right. 4. Click the [Add t My Reprts] buttn. Frm nw n the reprt will be accessible frm the My Reprts View n the left side f the Reprts page fr quick access. Creating Reprt Subscriptins Reprt subscriptins can be used t send custm generated reprts t specific recipients at a scheduled ccurrence. T subscribe t a reprt: 1. Navigate t the Reprts page at Reprts & Alerts Reprts. 2. Select a pre-defined reprt template frm the list. 3. Click the Actins icn n the right. 4. Click the [Subscribe] buttn. 5. Cmplete the Reprt Subscriptins Frm with all required infrmatin. General Infrmatin The name f the subscriptin, the subject, etc.

Distributin List The recipients wh will receive the custm reprt whenever the subscriptin is executed. Executin Schedule The time and schedule at which the custm reprt is generated. 6. Click [Save]. Additinal Reprting Tls There are als several ther additinal tls that help administratrs utilize MDM reprting capabilities: Search Assistance Tls The Reprt Categry drp-dwn and Search Bx at the tp f the Reprts page make finding particular reprts very simple. Reprt Samples Tl T view a sample utput frm a particular reprt, click the Actins icn n the right and then click the [Sample] buttn. Reprt Exprt Tl T exprt a reprt in ne f several frmats, use the Exprt Bar n a custm generated reprt. Alerts Alerts prvide administratrs with the ability t receive immediate ntificatins when specific events ccur acrss the managed smart device fleet. They are cmprised f tw cmpnents: A Creatin Plicy that describes the criteria that must be met t trigger the alert A Ruting Plicy that describes the devices being mnitred, when the alert will be sent, and wh will receive it. Creatin Plicies In rder t create a new creatin plicy: 1. Navigate t Reprts & Alerts Alert Setup Creatin Plicy. Frm here, a list f all available creatin plicies can be seen. 2. If any plicies are similar t the plicy that needs t be created, try editing the plicy by selecting the Edit icn n the left f the rw. 3. Select Add Alert Creatin Plicy t pen the Alert Creatin Plicy Frm. 4. Enter all required infrmatin.
6 MDM Admin Guide Reprts and Alerts 4 Descriptin The name f the creatin plicy that will be displayed in the Web Cnsle. Resurce The type f resurce that is ging t be mnitred. Select Device t mnitr the smart device fleet. Attribute The parameter that will be used t determine whether the alert shuld g ff r nt. Cmparisn Operatr The cmparisn peratr t test whether the attribute will set ff an alert. Value The value that will set ff the alert when (Attribute) <Cmparisn Operatr> (Value) = True. Duratin The duratin that the alert will last befre stpping. 5. Click [Save] t cmplete the prcess. Ruting Plicies In rder t create a ruting plicy: 1. Navigate t Reprts & Alerts Alert Setup Ruting Plicy. 2. Select Add Alert Ruting Plicy t pen the Alert Ruting Plicy Frm. 3. Fill ut the frm n the Criteria tab. Creatin Plicy The creatin plicy that will trigger this alert. Lcatin Grup The lcatin grup that cntains the devices that are being mnitred fr the creatin plicy criteria. Lcatin The lcatin that cntains the devices that are being mnitred fr the creatin plicy criteria. The default is Any.
7 MDM Admin Guide Reprts and Alerts 5 Device Any specific devices that are being mnitred fr this creatin plicy. The default is Any. Sample Time and Sample Days The date and time in which this plicy is tested n the selected devices Severity & Pririty Metrics t rganize alerts in terms f pririty and several fr administrative purpses. Cnslidatin Windw The perid f time in which nly ne alert will ccur frm multiple triggers f the same creatin plicy. All alerts that ccur within the cnslidatin windw f ne anther, and stem frm the same creatin and ruting plicy, are cnslidated int a single alert. 4. Select the Preferences tab t cnfigure the recipients f these alerts: User Alerting Select an administrative user r users t receive this alert. Rle Alerting Select a lcatin grup and subsequent rle t receive this alert. T add additinal rles, use the [Add Rle] buttn. 5. Click [Save] t cmplete this prcess. Viewing Alerts Once alerts have been created, they can be viewed by navigating t Reprts & Alerts Search Alerts. My Alerts View alerts by user r rle that received the alert. Yu can als view alerts that were triggered by a particular device n the Device Details page by selecting System Activity Alerts. Keep in Mind... T enable the highest level f cntrl and security ver distributin f reprt infrmatin acrss the enterprise, edit rle-based access t reprts by navigating t Users User Accunts Add Rle. Reprt Access is enabled r disabled by checking the bxes under Resurce Categries.
8 MDM Admin Guide Reprts and Alerts 6 Overview f Syslg Syslg is a client\server prtcl used t integrate the event lg data frm Web Cnsle n a separate server in a reliable and secure way. Syslg is used in MDM fr lgging and string event lgs that have ccurred n Web Cnsle and n managed devices. Syslg prtcl is riginally written n BSD Unix and the messages are sent using UDP/TCP prtcl. The tw majr reasns fr having a centralized Syslg server: Fr Security When an administratr wants t keep sme f the event lgs safely ff-site in a secure lcatin. Fr Cnvenience In case f crashed server, the administratr can check the kernel errr lgs n the centralized Syslg server. The Syslg pattern between varius dates ver an extended time can als be checked, and lg files frm the Syslg server can be matched, searched, and replaced at any time. Integrating Syslg The administratr can cnfigure Syslg integratin n the Syslg settings page by navigating t Cnfiguratin System Settings Admin Syslg. 1. Enter infrmatin in all the fields. Required fields have a red asterisk ( * ). Server URL Enter the Syslg server URL t stre event lgs. Prtcl Enter the prtcl type fr MDM cnsle and the Syslg server t cmmunicate, either UDP r TCP. Prt Enter the destinatin prt number the MDM cnsle wants t send Syslg data t the Syslg server. When sending messages using UDP, the destinatin prt is usually 514 and fr TCP, the destinatin prt is usually The prt number is 514 by default. Syslg Facility Syslg facility lists the type f messages that are t be sent t the server. Select a Syslg facility frm the drp-dwn list. Sme Syslg accepts messages nly frm certain facilities. Event Types Lgged

Message Tag Enter a message tag t help Syslg server t identify where the message came frm. Message Cntent Enter what the message shuld include. Include lkup value helper cntrl with: {EventType}, {Event}, {User}, {EventSurce}, {EventMdule}, {EventCategry}, {EventData} 2. Click [Save] r click [Test Cnnectin] t test the cnnectin setup. Once the integratin is cmpleted, the administratr has t schedule the time frequency limits. This allws the MDM server t knw hw ften it has t send Syslg data t the Syslg server. The time frequency limit is set using the MDM Scheduler by navigating t Cnfiguratin System Settings Device General Scheduler. The Scheduler has a built-in task called Syslg Task, where the time frequency is set. The administratr has permissin t edit the Syslg Task nly at the Glbal level. 1. Click [Edit]. The Syslg Task page displays (see belw). 2. Enter infrmatin in the required fields. Recurrence Type Select a recurrence type and the crrespnding frequency t send Syslg data t the Syslg server. The fllwing recurrence types are available:
