3 Target Audience This symposium is designed for the RN, LPN, Advance Practice RN (NP/CNS) and allied health care professional interested in the care of neuroscience patients. Overview & Objectives Allina Health, along with the John Nasseff Neuroscience Clinical Service Line, is pleased to announce the 1st annual Nasseff Neuroscience Nursing Symposium, which is a combination of the previously held Pathways Conference for and Frontline Symposium for. This newly designed event is geared towards clinical practice and implications for the Neuroscience Nurse. This one day event will include a wide variety of neuroscience presentations by both physicians and nurses. Upon completion of the symposium, participants should be able to: Explain the prevalence of nonconvulsive status epileptics in neurology patients and the available treatment options. Identify patients who would benefit from mechanical thrombectomy. Describe the challenges/complications in caring for a delirious patient in the ICU and identify the interventions that can be taken to prevent, recognize and treat delirium. Explain the epidemiology of primary brain tumors and discuss treatment option in malignant gliomas. Identify common surgical spine procedures and the nursing management of common post-op complications. Describe the importance of door-to-needle times for thrombolytic therapy and its effect on patient outcomes. Identify 2-4 strategies to help with chronic pain patients and understand underlying issues/challenges related to caring for chronic pain patients. List the components of the NIHSS and understand the correlation of the score to the area of the brain affected. Identify medications that have promising research studies supporting neurological recovery and associated with poor outcomes following neurological injury.

Physical Therapy This activity has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy education requirements and has been approved for 7.0 contact hours. Please park in the hotel parking ramp, you will be provided a ticket at sign in for free parking. Registration Confirmation Registration deadline is Monday, September 30.
