2 ANSWERING YOUR CALL FOR MORE STROKE KNOWLEDGE The American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) has designed this inaugural state-of-the-science stroke conference to address clinical learning needs; organizational development goals for stroke centers; and clinical challenges in the emergency room, inpatient areas, the rehabilitation unit, and the community. If you are involved in the care of stroke patients whether you are an advanced practice nurse, stroke coordinator or administrator, critical care neuroscience nurse, preparing for the Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) examination, or a nurse new to stroke care this conference will help you achieve your educational goals. Gorelick, MD MPH FACP, medical director of the Hauenstein Neuroscience Center, Saint Mary s Health Care, Grand Rapids, MI Stroke centers are the epicenter of organized care for acute stroke patients and rehabilitative and recurrent stroke prevention efforts. In this address, we will trace the development of primary and comprehensive stroke centers in the United States.
