1 EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING Intervention Strategies for Children and Adults with Executive Function By attending this conference, clinicians will develop a deeper understanding of executive function and the impact it has on learning, behavior and daily activities for children and adults. The instructor will share specific tools and strategies for teaching clients with executive function challenges to become more efficient learners and independent in their daily lives. Biography Katie Hodgson, M.Ed, MA, CCC-SLP is a Senior Executive Function Coach and Supervisor at Beyond BookSmart, a company that provides executive function coaching. She obtained her B.A. in Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences, a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Later, Katie obtained an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State College and obtained her license as a Special Education Administrator and Principal. She first began working with individuals with executive function challenges in acute care and skilled nursing facilities. Later, Katie spent 10 years working at the secondary level in a public school setting and became district expert in executive function, social thinking and emotional regulation. Her passion for working with clients who have these challenges led her to a career at Social Thinking Boston, where she led the "Treatment Strategies for Tweens, Teens and Adults" training session for Michelle Garcia Winner's East Coast Clinical Training Program (level 1A), and to Beyond BookSmart. Currently, she continues Social Thinking coaching at her private practice in Massachusetts and executive function coaching with Beyond BookSmart.
