3 Dr. Paul T. Cass, MD Speaker Bios Dr Paul T. Cass is recently retired as Senior Vice President of Corporate Medical Affairs for Genesis Health Care in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. From 1974 to 1993 Dr. Cass was a physician staff member with Crozer Keystone Health Care System in Upland, Pa. Dr. Cass had been with Genesis Health Care Corporation since He is currently the Medical Director for GRS. Dr. Cass is a member of the Board of Directors for the Christian and Missionary Alliance Foundation overseeing Shell Point Retirement Community in Ft. Myers, Florida. Dr. Cass is a member of the Board of Directors for the Alliance Community for Retirement Living in Deland, Fla. Dr. Cass is a Board member for the Life at Home PACE program in Sharon Hill, Pa. Currently, Dr. Cass is President of Paul T. Cass. MD. LLC, consulting for excellence in elder care. He earned his MD from Hahnemann Medical College, where he also completed his internship and residency and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine with added qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. Ted Mulligan, MS OTR/L, MBA Ted Mulligan graduated from Colorado State University in 1991 with his Masters in Occupational Therapy, and from the University of New Hampshire in 1999 with his Masters in Business Administration. He is a clinical reimbursement specialist, with expertise in the rehabilitation area of clinical reimbursement for Medicare, skilled nursing and therapy services, and state specific Medicaid programs. He began his career as a clinical occupational therapist in the areas of industrial rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, and long term care. Over the past 10 years he has been employed with Genesis Healthcare, and has held positions including Rehabilitation Program Manager, Clinical Reimbursement Manager, and is currently Director or Reimbursement Rehab Services. As a rehabilitation reimbursement consultant, he is involved in program auditing, training, consulting, program evaluation and development, and strategic planning. Barbara Benson Yody, B.A, M.A Senior Director, Outcomes Analysis, Genesis HealthCare Barbara Yody is responsible for monitoring and reporting outcomes for Genesis HealthCare. In addition to outcomes reporting, Ms Yody manages a team of analysts that perform statistical analysis to understand the drivers of high quality and assess the impact of clinical or operational changes. The team also provides market assessment and survey support to assess current projects or evaluate future development. Ms. Yody is a trained research scientist with experience in community-based brain injury programs, market research and business planning. Alice Bell PT, GCS Alice Bell is currently employed by Genesis Rehabilitation Services as the Senior Director of Clinical Services for Physical Therapy and Clinical Operations Technology Integration. Alice received her Bachelors degree from Northeastern University, Boston Bouve College in She became a Board Certified Specialist in Geriatrics through the APTA in 1994 and was recertified in She is currently a DPT candidate at the University of Montana. Professional Activities: Vice President of the Section on Geriatrics of the APTA ; APTA appointed representative of the Coalition of Rehab Therapy Organizations to the Professional Technical Advisory Committee for JCAHO; APTA appointed member of the National Quality Forum; Contributor to the updated APTA Defensible Documentation Resource in the areas of Skilled Nursing Facilities/Long Term Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities, and Long Term Care Hospitals posted on the APTA website in September of 2009 Former Secretary of the Western District of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association; Former Assembly Representative for the Massachusetts Chapter of the APTA; Former Director and Membership Chair for the Section on Geriatrics; Service award recipient of the Section on Geriatrics in 2007 and 2009; Item writer for the Geriatric Specialist Certification Exam; Guest lecturer on the topic of Geriatric Physical Therapy for the PT program at Springfield College Professional Experience Alice has experience in home care, acute care, out-patient, acute rehab, sub-acute care and long term care. Alice has lectured and written many articles on topics related to Physical Therapy and the older adult. Mary Lea Habegger, MA-CCC/SLP Mary Lea Habeggeris the Clinical Specialist of Education and Staff Development for Genesis Rehabilitation Services (GRS). She provides clinical education and opportunities for student placements to support colleges and universities and GRS Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists. Mary Lea graduated from Marshall University with her Masters degree in 1993 and has practiced in a variety of settings with the last 13 years spent primarily in geriatrics and long- term care. Mary Lea is a Master Clinician in Dementia. She has presented continuing education courses on various clinical topics including: A Cognitive Framework- An Interdisciplinary Approach to Dementia; Dysphagia-The Basics; Auditory Rehabilitation; Cognitive Linguistic Therapy; Staging Dementia-A Nursing Approach; Cognitive Rehab-The Possibility of Hope; Reimbursement Seminars and Medicare Boot Camps. Mary Lea has also presented at the Annual Ohio Health Care Conference, the Wisconsin Speech and Hearing Convention, the Ohio Speech-Language Hearing Convention, the Miami Valley Alzheimer s Association, and the American Speech Language Hearing Association s National Convention. Mary Lea speaks on leadership issues as related to geriatrics and long term care. She is certified in the Serper Method (a cognitive rehabilitation program) and participates on the Dementia Special Interest Group for Genesis Rehab Services; and is a member of the Specialist Interest Groups for Supervision and Swallowing Disorders for the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
