Washington St., Suite 1300 Milwaukee, WI The Kentucky Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (KY- ACC) is happy to announce that it will be celebrating its next annual continuing medical education meeting on October 11, 2014 and we want to offer you the opportunity to be part of the premier cardiology meeting in the Commonwealth. This year s program is titled "Valvular Summit 2014 with Emphasis on the Left Heart. The audience, based on our prior meetings is anticipated to be 225+ and will consist of cardiologists, Fellows in Training, APRNs, cardiovascular pharmacists, nurses and other cardiology professionals. The meeting will take place at the Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Continuing medical education AMA PRA Category I hours are being applied for. The program includes outstanding experts with worldwide recognition. Our Honored Lecturer will be Dr. Blasé Carabello with a presentation on Valvular Aortic Stenosis, and we will also have a focused session on atrial fibrillation and catheter ablation led by Dr. Andrea Natale. The rest of the faculty includes national and international speakers such as: Dr. Michael Mack on Transcatheter aortic valve replacement Drs. Julio Perez and Marcus Stoddard on advanced echo imaging Drs. Norman Silverman, Steve Sanders, Mike Smith and Walter Sobczyk on Echocardiography Drs. Steve Leung and Vincent Sorrell on MRI- MRA Dr. Michael Brook leading a Jeopardy session Dr. Hartzell Schaff on CV Innovative Surgical Techniques Dr. Gerry Tomasoni on Intracardiac Echo in the EP lab Additionally, we will have a robust presence from Fellows- in- Training at the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville; there will be a large poster session (35+) as well as jury- selected winning FIT presentations. This program is the only adult and pediatric cardiology CME meeting in the Commonwealth. We will ensure ample exhibitor space at the convention center as outlined in the attached packet. We will be able to accommodate only one (1) exhibitor at the Platinum level and eight (8) exhibitors at the Gold level; there will also be opportunities for Silver level support. All exhibits will be rewarded on a first- come- first- served basis. It s going to be a great meeting and we hope you can join us. 6 10 th Annual Meeting & Scientific Session Valvular Summit 2014 with Emphasis on The Left Heart Program Overview: The Kentucky Chapter American College of Cardiology (KY- ACC) annual meeting is an opportunity for cardiovascular healthcare providers in the area to join together for an annual update. The meeting covers topics relevant to many in cardiovascular medicine. For 2014, the meeting will be on Valvular Summit 2014 with Emphasis on the Left Heart. Overall Goal Statements: 1. To obtain an enhanced understanding of clinical cardiac pathologies. 2. To augment the clinician s ability to utilize modern diagnostic techniques to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease. Learning Objectives: At the end of the meeting all attendants should be able to: Learn the potential added value of Cardiac MRI for evaluation of patients with Mitral Valve Disease Recognize the differences between echo and CMR for mitral valve disease To understand the role of intracardiac ultrasound during common electrophysiological procedures To gain knowledge into the use of intracardiac ultrasound in the insertion of LAA occlusive devices Understand the capabilities of advanced imaging for aortic stenosis Identify key areas for cardiovascular research Expand knowledge of current and emerging technologies Evaluate methods for analyzing data and applying to clinical practice Target Audience: This program is designed for physicians, cardiac care associates, cardiovascular pharmacists, echo technicians or other practitioners with an emphasis on current practice trends within cardiovascular medicine. Accreditation Statement: The Southern Kentucky Area Health Education Center is accredited by the Kentucky Medical Association (KMA) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The Southern Kentucky Area Health Education Center designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 7.25 credits in AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) CEU credits are also available. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this educational activity.
