1 Fiat Group Automobiles is set to participate in the H2 Roma Energy & Mobility Show From 8 to 10 November, Italy's capital will play host to the eleventh edition of the H2 Roma Energy & Mobility Show sponsored by CNR, ENEA and CIRPS Sapienza Università di Roma as well as scientific partners and key industrial and institutional players. The event will take place at the Salone delle Fontane on Rome's Via Ciro il Grande 10/12. For more information, visit Fiat Group Automobiles, for whom respecting the environment has always been a priority, will be participating in the event as a Partner. This priority is clearly reflected by the Fiat Group products present on the market, the brand's research and development plans, the sustainable mobility initiatives promoted in conjunction with governments - and the investments in new product development. All of this centres around two key guiding principles: improving the eco-compatibility of conventional engines and researching alternative drive systems, such as methane power, for example. The chosen theme for this edition of H2 Roma is Motori Fuel Neutral e fonti rinnovabili: energia e mobilità ad una svolta (Neutral Fuel Engines and renewable energy sources: energy and mobility at a turning point). During the event, engineers from research bodies and automotive companies will come together in the presence of Institutions, the Press and the Public. The speakers will include Maurizio Consalvo Fiat -

On the same day at 2:30 pm, it will be the turn of Michelangelo Liguori, Fiat Group Automobiles EMEA - Fiat Brand Marketing Director to participate in the convention H2 Roma Università (H2 Rome Universities). As well as discussion between the various parties, the H2 Roma Energy & Mobility Show will offer visitors the chance to physically touch and experiment with the stateof-the-art solutions already available for everyone on the market. An absolute must for this exhibition is of course the brand new Fiat Panda 0.9 TwinAir Turbo Natural Power - on display inside the Salone delle Fontane - a real concentration of technology capable of combining brilliant driving with maximum financial and environmental sustainability. What's more, inside the convention area itself, guests will be able to get behind the wheel of both the functional Easy version and the exclusive Trekking version of the new Fiat Panda 0.9 TwinAir Turbo Natural Power. It is the first car in the world to be fitted with an 80 HP small methane/petrol fuelled, turbocharged two-cylinder engine. The engine is full of spirit and has a high specific power rating and high torque delivery, and thanks to its methane fuel supply, the new Panda TwinAir Turbo Natural Power ensures reduced CO 2 emission levels (86 g/km) and low fuel consumption (3.1 kg/100 km on the combined type-approval cycle). It should be noted that this vehicle's emissions are an absolute record for Fiat Group cars and one of the lowest of the entire market.
3 In the field of alternative fuels, Fiat considers that methane propulsion is now the most appropriate technological choice for contributing to the reduction of pollution in urban areas and the limitation of CO 2 emissions. Methane engines reduce the most harmful hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emissions to a minimum, while particulate emissions are practically nil. They also generate 23% less CO 2 compared to petrol engines. This makes methane the "cleanest" fuel available today and it is also by far the most costeffective, as an operating economy compared to petrol (in terms of fuel cost per km) of more than 50% shows. A pioneer for this technology over 15 years ago, today Fiat is the first and only manufacturer to offer, in its environmentally-friendly Natural Power line, a range designed to meet the mobility requirements of a truly broad public, including goods transport professionals. Thanks to this extensive and diverse range, Fiat is currently the European leader in the field of factory-fitted methane system (OEM) cars with over 500,000 car and commercial vehicle units having been sold between 1997 and today. In Italy, during the first nine months of 2012, over 43,500 methane fuelled vehicles (OEM) were registered, an increase of more than 34% on the same period of 2011, clearly bucking the trend of the deep market crisis. Users are expressing their appreciation of an alternative technology such as that represented by methane powered vehicles, an option which offers the unusual characteristic of being able to combine both environmental and financial sustainability. And in this context, Fiat is reaping the rewards of its choices, securing a market share of more than 87% of the total number of methane powered vehicles registered in Italy in the first nine months of 2012.
4 It is also important to point out methane's strategic role for the diffusion of renewable sources as fuel in the transport sector, as it is the bridging technology to lay the foundations for developing an even more ecologically sustainable solution: biomethane. This is a gas of non-fossil origin, produced through anaerobic digestion and purified to reach a composition similar to that envisaged for natural gas. More specifically, in a well-to-wheel context, a vehicle powered by bio-methane produces CO 2 emissions comparable to those of an electric vehicle powered by energy produced by renewable sources. This fuel could therefore play its part in helping Italy to comply with Directive 2009/28/EC on Renewable Energy Sources, which sets out an obligation to achieve a target of 10% in the transport sector as part of the objective of 20% for Renewable Energy Sources by Today, the Natural Power range is one of the main cornerstones of Fiat's environmental protection strategy, a strategy which has led to the brand's undisputed European leadership. In fact, over the last 5 years, Fiat is the brand which has recorded the lowest level of CO 2 emissions by vehicles sold in Europe, with an average value of g/km in 2011 (4.9 g/km less than the 2010 average). Fiat also came in first place as a Group, with g/km. The record is certified by JATO Dynamics, the world's leading automotive consultancy and research firm. One important recognition and an ongoing improvement: over the last 4 years, Fiat Automobiles has reduced its average emissions by 14%, from to g/km of CO 2, which is significantly lower than the average target of 130 g/km set out by the European Union for 2015.
5 What's more, for the fourth year running, has been confirmed on the World and Europe Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) with a score of 91/100 compared to an average of 74/100 for companies in the Automotive sector analysed by SAM, a company specialising in sustainable asset management. The DJSI World and DJSI Europe are the most prestigious indexes which contain only those companies judged to be the best in managing their business according to a range of sustainability criteria. Only leading companies are accepted, both from an economic and financial and a social and environmental point of view. For 2012/2013, the Automotive sector on the DJSI World, in addition to Fiat, will include BMW and Volkswagen, while the Dow Jones Europe will include just Fiat and BMW. Turin, 8 November 2012
