3 WPS-DVR Cntrl4 Driver Setup and Cnfiguratin 1 Overview The fllwing infrmatin will guide the installer thrugh simple set up and prgramming a Cntrl4 system t cntrl the main display utput f a Wirepath DVR and displaying cameras n a Cntrl4 GUI. Please read thrugh the entire dcument befre perfrming any setup f the DVR r the Cntrl4 system. See Sftware Versin sectin fr details. 4 WPS-DVR Cntrl4 Driver Setup and Cnfiguratin 3 Sftware Versin The infrmatin cntained in this dcument is intended fr DVRs with the latest versin f sftware. Please verify that yu have the latest versin f sftware fr each DVR in the system. If the sftware versin f the DVR is belw the versin listed here, it is recmmended that it be updated. Fllw the Sftware Upgrade Instructins in this dcument. Applies t Sftware Versin: Updating DVR Sftware 1. Verify that the DVR t be installed has the latest versin f sftware available n the SnapAV website. 2. If needed, upgrade the DVR t the latest versin. Prceed t 4 DVR Setup If nt needed. A. Update the Sftware via DVR Lcal Display A.1. A.2. A.3. A.4. A.5. A.6. A.7. Insert a USB Thumb Drive with the new sftware int the USB cnnectr n the frnt r rear f the DVR. Bring up the menu by pressing MENU/ESC n the frnt panel r remte r by right clicking the muse. Select the Sftware Update Icn frm the Menu using the muse, the remte r the frnt panel (Menu/ESC + Up/Dwn/Left/Right buttns). USB Thumb Drive cntents will be displayed in the right hand windw. Duble click the apprpriate new sftware file with the muse r use Up/Dwn/Left/Right buttns and the Enter buttn n the frnt panel r remte. Use muse t select the check mark r press Enter n remte r the frnt panel. Sftware upgrade is indicated n the bttm scrll line. During this prcess the DVR must remain pwered ON r the DVR will becme inperable. Nte: After the sftware is upgraded, the system will restart immediately. This prcess may take a few mments, after the DVR restarts lgin will be required. View the main Menu/Status menu t verify the Versin and Build number has been updated. Remve the USB Thumb Drive frm the DVR.! Nte: If updating frm a sftware versin belw , the fllwing steps must be perfrmed befre accessing the DVR frm IE. B. Upgrade the Internet Explrer Plugin Interface The IE Plugin interface MUST be updated t ensure it can access the latest DVR sftware features. B.1. B.2. B.3. B.4. B.5. B.6. B.7. B.8. Update the DVR sftware fllwing the instructins listed abve. Dwnlad the Remve_WPS_IE_Plugin file frm the SnapAV website. This file is als lcated in the sftware update zip file. Rebt each cmputer that will be used t access r cnfigure the updated DVR. When the cmputer restarts, D Nt Open IE. Run the Remve_WPS_IE_Plugin file. Open IE and access the updated Wirepath DVR. Perfrm Step 2, 3and 4 fr all cmputers that will be used t access the DVR. IE may initially blck installatin f the DVR Plugin. If s, review the prmpt and allw the Plugin t be installed. If prmpted, allw installatin f the C++ Distributable Package and IEPlugin.cab packages. When Plugin installatin is cmplete, lg in t and cnfigure the DVR as usual. pg. 4 Supprt:

5 + - VGA HDM I ESATA POWER WPS-DVR Cntrl4 Driver Setup and Cnfiguratin 4 DVR Setup 4.1 DVR Cnnectins 1. Cnnect all cameras 2. Cnnect all displays 3. Cnnect the DVR t a netwrk (This is needed fr the Cntrl4 IP cntrl and vide streaming) WPS-300 Series DVR RS-232 Netwrk Ruter Autmatin System Internet 4.2 DVR Netwrk Settings Basic DVR Netwrk Cnfiguratin 1. Frm the main MENU select Setup then Netwrk. 2. Set the Net Type t Static IP. 3. Enter the Static IP Address issued by the netwrk admin. 4. Enter the Net Mask fr the netwrk (usually ) 5. Enter the Default Gateway (Address used t access the ruter) 6. Enter the DNS Address (Usually same address as Default Gateway) 7. Select Advanced t enter prt settings (if required) Advanced DVR Netwrk Cnfiguratin 1. Set Cntrl Prt (Default 67) 2. Set Data Prt (Default 68) 3. Set HTTP Prt (Default 80) 4. EXIT SETUP and save the settings. The prts listed are the default prts used by netwrks. Due t the ruters cnfiguratin, these may need t be changed. Recrd all setting fr netwrk settings as they will be needed later Wirepath Surveillance pg. 5

6 WPS-DVR Cntrl4 Driver Setup and Cnfiguratin User Access Setup The Cntrl4 DVR driver requires netwrk access t the DVR t allw access and cntrl at predetermined levels as established within the DVR. Setting up the DVRs Lcal Guest Level is required befre access frm Cntrl4 can be established. It is recmmended that Lcal Guest Level be set t the lwest level required t allw mst Cntrl4 users the desired level f access. User Lgin Names with Passwrds can be used t accmmdate users wh require higher levels f access. 1. Setup users with Lgin Names and Passwrds granting a specific level f access fr each user. Operatr The lwest level, an Operatr can nly view live vide and audi Supervisr In additin t live vide viewing, a Supervisr can review playback vide and audi and has permissin t archive files Administratr The highest level is Administratr and has access t all ptins. - N remte access allwed Custmized In additin t the three default levels, an administratr can als set Custmized levels f access fr each user. Refer t the DVR Installatin and User s Manual fr details. The factry preset Administratr level lgin name is user, the passwrd is We recmmend changing this t blck unwanted access t the DVR. 2. Remve default lgin fr extra security. The user marked with an asterisk befre the user number is the Default Lgin, when selected, the DVR will always lgin t this accunt. This is attached t the User accunt by default which has Administratr access t the DVR. Press the Mde buttn n the DVR remte when User is selected t remve the Default Lgin. 3. Setup Lcal Guest Level t allw access t the DVR. Lcal Guest Level allws r restricts access t the DVR by Guests accessing the DVR thrugh Lcal interfaces (DVR GUI via frnt panel buttns, IR remte cntrl r hme autmatin Ethernet r RS232 cntrl) withut a dedicated Lgin. The ptin selected determines the level f access a Guest will have. - (Default) N Guest Access Allwed. Administratr Supervisr Operatr UserName Prvides full access t the DVR allwing fr viewing f all cameras and mdificatin t all settings. Use this setting with cautin. Prvides access t view and cntrl all cameras, Search, Archive and mdify basic settings. Prvides access t view and cntrl all cameras. N access t Search r settings is prvided. This setting shuld meet mst user s needs. Prvides access t the features as defined in the Advanced Settings fr a particular user. See Adv: belw fr mre infrmatin. Nte: We recmmend using the Operatr setting t allw the system t cntrl the DVR, but prevent Guest access t advanced DVR features. Users wuld be required t enter a Lgin and Passwrd t Search, Archive, mdify Settings, etc. 4. Setup Aut Lgut When a User has lgged int the lcal vide GUI and there is n User peratin in the time selected (frm 1 minute t 24 hurs) the User will be autmatically lgged ut. The lcal User must have exited all GUI menus, s that nly Live vide is being displayed. Select - t disable this feature (default setting). Press +/- buttns n the frnt panel f the DVR r n the remte cntrl t change this setting. Alternatively use the muse t set this value. Nte that Aut Lgut has n effect n remte lgin r access (fr example, remte IE sessins r streaming vide t third-party systems r interfaces). pg. 6 Supprt:

7 WPS-DVR Cntrl4 Driver Setup and Cnfiguratin 5 Ruter Setup After setting up the DVR(s) netwrk settings, the ruter may need t be setup fr prt frwarding s that the DVR can be seen n the netwrk. Dwnlad the Ruter Setup dcument apprpriate fr the brand f ruter being used frm the SnapAV website. Shuld a dcument fr the brand being used nt appear in the list, refer t the ruters wner s manual fr setting up prt frwarding. 6 Cntrl4 System Prgramming The fllwing infrmatin utlines the basic steps fr cnfiguring Wirepath DVRs and Cameras n a Cntrl4 system. A wrking knwledge f the Cmpser Sftware and experience cnfiguring Cntrl4 is required. D nt attempt these steps withut first gaining a wrking knwledge f Cntrl4 system cnfiguratin. 6.1 DVR Cntrl (Cntrl Driver) 1. Open the latest versin f Cmpser. 2. Cnnect t Directr n Lcal Netwrk (Cntrller) 3. Select the desired rm under System Design. 4. Select the driver under My Drivers / Audi/Vide. 5. Select Cable, and then the Wirepath DVR IP Driver. 6. Driver can be renamed when it is added, r by right clicking and selecting Rename. Tip: Rename the DVR s that it can be fund easily, using the rm name r whatever wrks best. 7. Setup the prperties t cntrl the DVR. A. Enter the IP Address f the DVR. B. Enter Username and Passwrd Username: user Passwrd: 1234 These settings are the default access t the DVR fr IP cntrl and MUST be used fr the system t perate the DVR. 8. Lk in the driver infrmatin tab and verify that it indicates Lgged In t DVR Wirepath Surveillance pg. 7

8 WPS-DVR Cntrl4 Driver Setup and Cnfiguratin 9. Useful Defaults fr remte buttns have already been prgrammed; these can be remapped if needed. 10. G t the Cnnectins tab and assign the utput f the DVR t the desired display, switcher r receiver. Tip: If the utput f the DVR is desired within multiple lcatins within the system, use f a Binary HD Matrix is recmmended. Additinal prgramming is required that is nt defined within this dcument. 11. Refresh Navigatrs t update the user interfaces fr the new device. 12. DVR is nw available n Cntrl4 interfaces under Watch. Once the surce is selected the DVR vide utput and cameras can be viewed. Settings can be changed if the user can Lgin t the DVR with a crrect user accunt. 13. Repeat steps 2 thrugh 14 fr each DVR in the system with unique IP Camera Viewing (Vide Drivers) Dwnlad the Cntrl4 Wirepath Cameras Driver frm the SnapAV website 2. Extract the drivers t Dcuments>Cntrl4>Drivers. This directry may be a different based n the versin f Windws used r if it was changed. Nte: There are 16 driver files (1 fr each camera that can be viewed. This is the maximum number f cameras available n a single Wirepath DVR. Use nly the amunt f drivers that are required. 3. Open the latest versin f Cmpser. 4. Cnnect t Directr n Lcal Netwrk (Cntrller). 5. Select the desired rm under System Design. 6. Under My Drivers, Right Click the IP Cameras flder. 7. Select Add Driver. 8. In the Select the Driver windw, select the manufacturer Wirepath Surveillance. 9. Srt the list by name t add cameras in rder. Imprtant Nte: the number in the driver name crrespnds t the inputs n the DVR. Select the cameras in rder starting with 1 t make sure that the crrect camera will be viewed. 10. Duble click t add the camera will nw appear in My Drivers under IP Cameras. 11. Select a rm fr the camera. 12. Under My Drivers/IP Cameras, duble-click the desired camera driver t add it t the Rm. Tip: Place the camera in the rm that it is lcated, this will aid in identifying the camera later. Tip: Rename the cameras by Rm and DVR input number t further aid in identificatin (fr example, Den Cam 01. pg. 8 Supprt:

9 WPS-DVR Cntrl4 Driver Setup and Cnfiguratin 13. Select the camera in the rm A. Enter the IP address f the DVR. B. Enter the prt fr the camera Default prt n the DVR is 80, hwever this may have been changed in DVR setup. Refer t the netwrk settings fr the DVR t verify the crrect prt t use. C. Enter Username and Passwrd Username: user Passwrd: 1234 These settings are the default access t the DVR cameras and MUST be used fr the system t receive camera snapshts and live vide. D. Repeat this step fr all cameras in the system. 14. Once cmpleted Refresh Navigatrs t update the user interfaces fr the new device(s). 15. Frm the cntrl4 GUI, select the Security icn t view cameras. 16. Nte: It may take up t 2 minutes fr the cameras t display snapshts n the first viewing. Viewing live vide will update the snapsht fr the selected camera when the user exits live vide. The Cntrl4 system will update regularly thereafter. 17. The cameras are setup and can be viewed frm the Cntrl4 GUI Wirepath Surveillance pg. 9
