2 Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust is seeking to appoint a Head of Income Generation (Maternity Leave Contract) ADVERT An exceptional opportunity to join one of Cornwall's leading charities. Cornwall Air Ambulance was the first charity to provide an air ambulance helicopter in the UK will be a most significant year with the 30 year anniversary leading them into a new phase in the Charity's growth and development. Although this is a maternity leave contract, it is a fantastic and special opportunity to lead a committed, passionate fundraising team through the most important year in the history of the charity so far. If you can add Senior Leadership Team (SLT) abilities to the mix, then your role will also include a temporary position as part of the SLT alongside the Finance Director and the Chief Executive, although you will be working within an existing strategic plan and associated budgets. The charity will consider appointing someone who has no experience at SLT level, but who has a proven track record at leading a fundraising department and delivering great results. Key Responsibilities:- Providing leadership for the fundraising department, and to be accountable for income of c 5m Relishing a challenge and finding motivation at such an important time for the organisation To lead in the delivery of fundraising plans designed to increase income and productivity. Ability to work closely with team members and volunteers, and other internal departments,. Able to evidence a strong understanding of fundraising regulation A track record in enabling others, trusting, empowering and developing staff As a member of the SLT, (if applicable) contribute to the leadership planning and policy formulation and help to influence the charity s direction of travel to meet organisational objectives We are seeking: Experience at Senior Leadership Team Level (D) Qualified to Diploma Level with the Institute of Fundraising (D) Experience in managing external relationships for example Lottery Fundraising Consultant (D) Fully conversant with Codes of Fundraising Practice and Fundraising Regulation (E) An excellent communicator, able to build rapport, influence others.(e) Experience of devising and delivering different types of fundraising programmes to grow income. 3 JOB DESCRIPTION Head of Income Generation (to cover maternity leave) Full time position (some flexibility 4/5 FTE) Start Date Tuesday Jan 2017 (up to 8 weeks handover) Deadline for applications: 25th November 2016 Interview date: Dec 2016 Reporting to: Chief Executive Based: Trevithick Downs, Newquay, TR8 4DY Cornwall Air Ambulance has been flying for almost 30 years and has attended over 26,000 incidents across the county. The helicopter is on scene within an average of 12 minutes of a 999 call being made. Patients are flown to hospitals across the region including Treliske, Derriford and sometimes to specialist hospitals further afield. Although we are an essential part of the emergency services, we do not receive any central government funding for direct operating costs, and rely on the support of the community to keep us flying. We are a steadily growing charity with a high profile and strong reputation in the community and an innovative and hardworking team culture where everyone is Proud to be Cornwall Air Ambulance. In 2017 the charity will celebrate 30 years of saving lives, and the person leading the fundraising team will have a fantastic opportunity to apply their experience in managing a committed and passionate team through the most important year in the history of the charity so far. If you can add Senior Leadership Team (SLT) abilities to the mix, then your role will also include a temporary position as part of the SLT alongside the Finance Director and the Chief Executive, although you will be working within an existing strategic plan and associated budgets. The charity will consider appointing someone who has no experience at SLT level, but who has a proven track record at leading a fundraising department and delivering great results. We expect our fundraising team to need a custodian of this lead role for a period of around 11 months to include approximately 8 weeks of handover. You will need to demonstrate experience in planning and leading all aspects of a busy fundraising department, including line management and performance management of up to six individuals within a values driven organisation. The role is crucial to the success of the charity objectives, not just for the time of maternity cover, but for the years beyond, and the post holder can expect to work with a high degree of autonomy and decision making authority, whilst receiving support from colleagues in the senior leadership team and support for career development and training.

4 Key Competencies Providing leadership primarily for the fundraising department, and to be accountable for income of C. 5m and controlled expenditure associated with generating income Relishing a challenge and finding motivation in being a custodian of a special role at such an important time for the organisation To lead in the delivery of fundraising plans designed to increase income and productivity and a willingness to work within an existing framework and be hands on. Ability to work closely with others, including team members and volunteers, and also with other internal departments, in particular Finance, PR and Marketing, Volunteering, and with SLT colleagues Able to evidence a strong understanding of fundraising regulation, and the application of ethical fundraising policies. A track record in enabling others, trusting, empowering and developing staff whilst maintaining self competencies and engendering trust and respect from colleagues As a member of the SLT, (if applicable) contribute to the leadership planning and policy formulation for the charity as a whole. As a member of the SLT, (if applicable) help to influence the charity s direction of travel to meet our organisation objectives In more detail Be the leading authority on fundraising, reporting to the chief executive, the board of trustees and executive committees. Leading regular fundraising team meetings and ensuring actions are followed through across a wide range of fundraising administration, activities and events. Helping the fundraising team design, organise and deliver successful fundraising events associated with the 30 th operational year of Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. Attending other community events to represent the charity, ensuring that the fundraising team is doing all that it should to support external fundraising and community led initiatives. Responsibility for recruitment within the fundraising team, as well as retention, the continued development and appraisal of staff, including performance management supervision, following SMART objectives for your team. Having regard for the Values of the charity in everything that you do including, the organisations expectations of behaviours and attitudes, and Being Proud to be Cornwall Air Ambulance. Undertake a wide range of duties normally associated with the head of department, including performance meetings with fundraising consultants, meeting former patients and their families and hosting supporter visits, dealing with complaints.

5 Seek to maintain and where required improve quality standards, best practice fundraising, and ensure these are upheld and understood throughout the team.
