The purpose of the role is to manage and visit a cohort of Registered Sex Offenders, search addresses, ICT and telephony, gather intelligence, maintain police databases, and support investigations into these RSO s. To undertake ARMs risk assessments of the cohort to better understand the current risks posed in order that management plans can be implemented bespoke to the offender. Successful applicants will be required to work in accordance with the attached rota. Candidates are asked to evidence against the following essential criteria only: 1. Experience of gathering critical evidence by interviewing 2. Experience of dealing with difficult and evasive people, and ability to build a rapport with the same 3. Experience of maintaining & interrogating computerised systems and manual filing systems, with sufficient IT skills In addition (where applicable to the role) applicants must evidence against any essential qualifications as per the candidate specification. 2 LANCASHIRE CONSTABULARY JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Location: Responsible to: Job Purpose: SOMU ARMS Investigation Assistant East West and South Detective Sergeant To manage and visit a cohort of Registered Sex Offenders, search addresses, ICT and telephony, gather intelligence, maintain police databases, and support investigations into these RSO s. Grade: LC 5/6 KEY RESULT AREAS This is not a comprehensive list of all the tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken. To work within a team managing Registered Sex Offenders (RSOs) in Lancashire. To conduct unannounced visits to RSOs at their home addresses and other addresses if required, either in company, or alone if the risks have been assessed and documented. To interview RSOs and consensually search their addresses and IT/telephony equipment, in order to gain intelligence and ensure proper management of these RSOs. To update intelligence and maintain computer records regarding RSOs.To actively research and review Risk management levels of RSO s. To manage a cohort of RSOs by collating information and sharing it with the Detective Sergeant to inform risk assessment and strategies which will collectively be put in place to mitigate risks. To use internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding RSOs and intelligence found, and complete other administrative tasks. To liaise with partner agencies to manage sex offenders and share intelligence, and to attend multiagency meetings. To refer offences discovered during visits for action by warranted police officers. To assist investigators and police officers in investigating criminal offences suspected of having been committed by RSOs. To present evidence at court on occasion, regarding offences discovered during visits. To be flexible regarding working arrangements where a need to start and finish work away from the designated office exists. To demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering a high standard of service with an emphasis on quality at all times.
