1 Isle of Anglesey County Council Job Description Job Title: Graphic Design and Digital Marketing Officer Post Number: Directorate: Service Unit: Sustainable Development Regulation and Economic Development Grade: Overall Job Purpose: To provide creative and high quality graphic design and digital marketing capabilities for the Service in order to improve and maintain its positive image and reputation; demonstrate its commitment to effective and proactive customer service and engagement; and support a more commercial approach to the delivery of key services, facilities and activities. Principal Accountabilities / Key Tasks 1. Develop and utilise interactive digital media tools and traditional graphic design techniques to encourage maximum interaction and engagement between the Service and its customers. 2. Utilise graphic design knowledge and skills to produce creative and innovative artwork for Service publications, promotional and information materials (digital and print). 3. Provide graphic design advice, expertise and input from the inception stage of design work, through to its final production. 4. Manage and monitor the design, production and use of all promotional materials to ensure consistency such as logos, fonts and colours in line with the County Council s design guidelines. 5. Plan, co-ordinate and implement the Service s digital marketing activities to ensure regular, accurate and relevant information sharing with customers (including engagement with the County Council s Communication Unit). 6. Capitalise upon all social media marketing opportunities to: promote/ raise awareness of the Service, its Functions and responsibilities; support income generation activities and recognise the changing needs and demands of customers. 7. Support the development and implementation of the Service s annual Communication and Engagement Strategy.

2 8. Work with Service Managers to identify and develop opportunities for promotion and marketing of the Service through their Team work programmes. 9. Monitor and analyse the impacts and results of the Service s graphic design and digital marketing activities. 10. Demonstrate a commitment to develop personal graphic design and digital marketing skills and techniques (and apply them as necessary). 11. Support the establishment and maintenance of links with suppliers and production companies. 12. Develop and maintain an archive/ library of graphic design publications, materials and images. 13. Ensure all software and hardware maintenance is undertaken on a regular basis. 14. Develop and maintain professional and effective working relationships with Service Officers, customers and external organisations. 15. Ensure full compliance with all relevant County Council policies and procedures (e.g. EU Procurement and the Council s Financial Regulations; Data Protection Act; Freedom of Information; Equalities Act 2010; Welsh Language Standards). 16. The post-holder maybe required to carry out any other responsibilities as appropriate with the nature of the post and its grade. Manual handling of printed materials (e.g. boxes of brochures / leaflets) Carrying and setting up/testing various exhibition display materials. Mental demands The need to demonstrate a creative approach to graphic design and digital marketing. The need to ensure that all work must comply fully with the County Council s design guidelines and external funding requirements/ guidelines. Continuous need to be flexible, highly organised and able to multi-task and prioritise work to meet deadlines. The need for accuracy, precision and an attention to detail when preparing all materials. The ability to prepare specialist and technical materials/ publications (digital and print). Emotional demands Ability to deal with criticism and negative feedback when monitoring the use of the County Council s design guidelines. Strength of character and purpose, including the ability to handle challenging situations. The need to be helpful, approachable and of a positive nature whilst staying calm and diplomatic under pressure.
