1 INTRODUCTION Sharp Smart Bard Quick reference Manual The Sharp Smart Bard is the 21st century answer t the 19 th century chalkbard. In a wrld that is autmatic and mves at a rate 100 times faster than befre, the Sharp Smart Bard cmprises many features that allw the mdern user the ability t d mre with less. With the Smart Bard, yu can shw dcuments, web pages and vides n an interactive screen that respnds t tuch, nes finger r a pen. The Smart Bard is a functinal piece f equipment that has numerus uses and capabilities. The Smart Bard is designed with users frm all career fields in mind. A chalk bard functin is built in fr thse needing t d equatins, brainstrming, and things f that nature. The Overlay ptin is a wnderful ptin that allws the user t write ver dcuments that are already being shwn n the screen. Fr example, a user shwing a pwer pint n the Bard can use the Overlay prgram can actually write n tp f the pwer pint slide page. Simply put, the Smart Bard serves as an interactive mnitr fr the user. Anything that can be dne n a basic cmputer can be prject t the Smart Bard and essentially blwn up fr size and display. Prgrams such as Yutube, Ggle, and even DVD vides played n a regular cmputer can be viewed n the Smart Bard. This manual is nt all inclusive and intended fr a persn with basic knwledge f cmputers and the prgrams that run the Smart bard. 1

2 The Smart Bard uses a cmputer r prjectr t illuminate the interactive bard; here are sme basic tips t ensure safety: If using a prjectr t, d nt stare directly int the beam. If yu are ding wrk in frnt f the bard after yu are dne, step t either side ut f the way f the prjectrs beam and then face the class. Ensure all wires are placed in a manner as t n blck r bstruct walkways. Keep liquid prducts away frm the bard and all f its cmpnents. Keep students and untrained persns away frm the bard as lng term use can make the bard ht. 2

3 SHARP SMART BOARD PEN 1. Functin buttn 1 serves as the right click just as a muse. 2. Functin buttn 2 scrlls between setting ptins. 3. Pen tip is use t make cntact with the smart bard and serves as the left click functin. 4. Battery indicatr serves t let the user knw when the battery is lw. Green indicates a gd battery; red indicates the battery is lw. 5. Ultrasnic transmitters send the signal frm the pen t the smart bard. 3

5 Pwer mnitr n and the hme screen will shw as abve. T select a prgram, tap the icn with the smart bard pen nce. When a prgram is pen, such as a search engine r wrd dcument yu can tap r drag the tab in the tp left crner t begin writing inside f the pen applicatin. 5

6 Desktp Use the pen t tuch the clear tab in the tp left crner as in figure 1. Duble tap r drag the clear tab t pen the writing/typing windw; figure 2 will appear. Writing in the typing windw will allw the user t add text t the pen applicatin r dcument. 9 Splitting a. Draw a vertical line between the letters in the wrd t separate int 2 wrds Jining a. Wrds can be jined by drawing a u shaped line frm ne letter t anther. Tap Num t display numbers and math symbls. Tap Sym t display a variety f symbls. Tap Web t display a variety f web addresses. Tap Tls buttn t view different ptins Write free hand just write n windw. Tap Save icn t save a screen sht f the desktp. Tap Print icn t print current desktp screen image t apprpriate printer. Tap Trash icn t delete selected bjects r clear the entire screen frm anything written. Tap Icn and the windw belw will appear t select deletin ptins. 10

11 Tap Settings icn t custmize verlay mde. Can change default pen ptins, eraser ptins grid visible r nt. Tap clr pens t change the set clrs 11

13 Tap setting t custmize yur wn thickness and clr. Tap Eraser t erase what is written. Can use pen t erase when eraser icn is selected (ptinal: can use screen eraser that came with SHARP Smart Screen). Tap icn a secnd time t bring up eraser ptins. Allws yu t have a large, medium, r small eraser. Tap Und icn t delete the last bject written t screen. Tap Red icn t put back the last bject that was previusly erased/deleted. Tap Select icn t click and drag t select written bjects r duble tap them. Tap Zm icn t create a small windw that will magnify a prtin f the screen. Tap Minimize icn t minimize the prgram. 13

Make sure bard is clean and wiped dwn with a micr fiber clth. Smart pens buttns are nt clicking. Make sure the battery is gd inside the pen. Smart bard is nt pwering n. Make sure the bard is plugged int a pwer surce and is securely plugged int the back f the tv. Previusly stated in the tls ptins in the writing pad.
