3 1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The proposed Nayanagar Sand Stone Mine (Minor Mineral) of Smt. RamRai Mundra W/o Shri Kanhaiya Lal Mundra having Q.L..No. 85 situated Near Village Nayanagar, Tehsil Bijoliya, District - Bhilwara (Raj.), Rajasthan over an area of 0.18 ha. The lease deed attach is additional attachment. The Simplified Mining scheme has been approved by M.E. Bijoliya Department of Mines and Geology. The mining will be carried out by open-cast mechanized method as per the approved Simplified Mining scheme only. The entire lease area is classified as diverted forest land with no forest land involved. The proposed rate of production of Sand Stone 2121 TPA. The estimated project cost is Rs Crore. As per RMMCR The reserves of Sand Stone is one of the most sought-out building materials for the construction purposes. It is forming part of Vindhyan Supergroup which is the integral part of Great-Vindhyan-basin, the blockable Sandsone & Masonry stone along are being nine for builing purpose. Since sandstone has a high mechanical strength that makes it perfect for load bearing stonework. Sandstone is also trodden into concrete and tar to fill in dam and landing stage construction. This will also generate plenty of employment opportunity for local people. Socio - economic level of the area will also improve and there will be the opportunity for education, health & sanitation, transport and other development. 5 land with no forest land involved. The proposed rate of production of Sand Stone are 2121 TPA. The estimated project cost is Rs Crore. As per RMMCR 1986, validity of lease is 20 years from the date of registration. 2.2 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE NATURE OF PROJECT This project is proposed for Sandstone (Minor Mineral) mining. As per EIA Notification dated its subsequent amendments and as per S.O. 141 (E) amendment notification dated The project falls under Category B1. As per EIA Notification dated S.O. 141(E) dated the periphery of another lease area is within 500 m from the periphery of another lease area and the total lease area > 25 ha.( ) Hence it is Categorized as 'B1' category Project. It has been proposed to excavate approximately 2121 TPA of Sandstone Q.L. No. 85 by open - cast mechanized method. The lease area is 0.18 ha. 2.3 NEED FOR THE PROJECT & ITS IMPORTANCE TO THE COUNTRY/ REGION Sandstone has a high mechanical strength that makes it perfect for load bearing stonework. Sandstone is also trodden into concrete and tar to fill in dam and landing stage construction. Thus, keeping in mind this requirement, mining of Sandstone is necessary for durability and to beautify by carving as per the requirement of the consumer. Total of 12 people will be employed for the mining activity which will create direct & indirect opportunity for employment to local people. By mineral production the applicant will pay royalty & other taxes which will be an additional source of revenue for the region. The proposed Sandstone mining project will cater the need of individual and local market of construction resulting benefit in terms of socio - economic development. 2.4 DEMAND SUPPLY GAP Sandstone is one of the essential components for building and infrastructural development projects. It is in good demand in region due to increased industrial and other infrastructural activities. 25

6 2.5 IMPORTS VS. INDIGENOUS PRODUCTION In the current scenario, import of Sandstone is not envisaged. It is used indigenously as a building construction material. It is in good demand for local building construction. 2.6 EXPORT POSSIBILITY Not applicable as proposed mine is for indigenous use only. 2.7 DOMESTIC/EXPORT MARKETS Domestic demand is one of the main reasons for the rapid growth of Sandstone business in India because it is cheaper and easily available. Thus, domestic market of Sandstone as a building material is well established and no export is envisaged. 2.8 EMPLOYMENT GENERATION (DIRECT AND INDIRECT) DUE TO THE PROJECT The total number of manpower is required for the mining activity is 12 people. Priority for employment will be given to local workers. Following staff & workers are proposed to be employed:- Table 2: Manpower requirement S.No. Particulars Number (s) 1. 16 4.6 SOIL CLASSIFICATION There are vast deposits of sandstone lying in horizontal strata around Bhilwara and Bijoliya, below which is a hard black rock stratum. Soil is mainly dark in colour, produced by weathering of the underlying rock, and is generally high in organic matter but low in nitrogen. The influence of the sandstone is also seen in places, where soil is looser and granular, with a more sandy texture. 4.7 CLIMATE Like most of Rajasthan the climate of Bhilwara and Bijoliya is mainly dry, with significant rainfall only during the monsoon season. Winter extends from November to March, and the coolest period occurs in January when daytime temperatures average around 25 C and often fall below 10 C at night. Temperatures begin to rise in March and peak in May-June, when daytime values sometimes reach 48 C. The south-west monsoon arrives in June, causing a sudden drop in temperature and increase in humidity. The long-term average rainfall is 844 mm, of which over 90% falls in the monsoon period. The monsoon ends in mid-september and air temperatures rise briefly, only to fall again a few weeks later with the onset of winter. Winds are generally light and northerly or north-easterly in winter and moderate to strong from the west and south-west in the monsoon. 4.8 SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE AVAILABLE Particulars Name Distance (Km) Direction (From Mining Lease Area) Nearest Habitation Nayanagar 3.0 Km NW Nearest Town Bijoliya 14.0 Km NE Nearest Airport Udaipur Airport 143 Km SW Nearest Highway NH Km South Nearest Railway Station Bhilwara 62Km NW Nearest Hospital Bijoliya 14.0 Km NE Educational Facility Nayanagar 3.0 Km NW 36
