Details of garland drains to be provided Plan for managing dust, noise, silt and other pollutants during mining activities Details on transportation route & measures proposed for control of fugitive emission during transportation 40. Plan for post mining use/ reclamation of pits. Personal protective devices i.e., earmuffs and earplugs will be provided to workers. All vehicles which create high noise will be avoided. Creation of wide green belts of dense foliage between mine areas. Proper maintenance, lubrication and tuning of machinery would be ensured. The greenbelt with species of rich canopy around the lease area and along the roads will further attenuate the noise levels. Mining activity will be restricted to day time only. Conducting periodical medical check up of all workers for any noise related health problems Proper training to personnel to create awareness about adverse noise level effects. Planned noise monitoring at suitable outside location for proper effective remedial actions. No blasting activity is carried out. For control of noise pls. refer prefeasibility study report pg. no. 14. PLAN FOR MANAGING STORM WATER: Generally mining is not carried out during monsoon while mine is filled by storm water. Floor area of mine will be kept tapered to runoff stormed water at lower level. Storm water will be stored at this one deep corner of lower level lease area Mine is dewatered by means of pumps after monsoon is over for its further reuse in water sprinkling & tree plantation purpose. Storage of over burden will be kept at periphery of mine area to prevent surface water runoff into mines and divert it in to nearby natural drain Pls. refer prefeasibility study report pg. no. 8. For managing dust, silt and air pollutant mitigation measures, plan is described in serial no. 35. For managing noise pollutant mitigation measures, plan is described in serial no. 36. Pls. refer prefeasibility study report pg. no. 10, 12 & 14. The abandoned mine sites shall be made fully secured with wire fencing or any such methods to avoid falling of animals and loss of lives when site is full of water harvested during the rainy seasons. Appropriate signage, security and protection measures shall be provided. The mine over burdens is being back filled fully in part of the mine sites to avoid heaps of such materials on one hand and depression due to mining on other hand. Proper leveling and adequate plantation shall have to be done. Preferably locally predominant species shall be
6 Provision of fencing the pits in case of use as water reservoir. Plan for green belt development, area of green belt, no. & types of species to be planted and budgetary outlay for the same selected for plantation. Adequate slopes shall be maintained to ensure that the animals, people can come out without any problem if they reach by chance or fall in abandoned mines. The post mining study for water quality and ecosystem degradation or improvement, shall be carried out to establish the relations and learning the lessons for future (if require & suggested by SEAC committee). The possibilities shall be explored to utilize the old mines for various purposes such as underground storage facilities, solid waste disposal areas, etc that can be beneficiary to the society. Pls. refer prefeasibility study report pg. no. 17. Not applicable. Pls. refer post mine plan detail in prefeasibility study report pg. no. 17. In order to mitigate the air pollutants and improving the ecology and the aesthetic of the area, unit will develop a green belt at periphery of project premises. Special care will be taken during planting the trees, their type and density. Local spices growing in this area will be planted within periphery of premises and on both side of road.
