3 CHAPTER - 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Mr. Abdul Munaf Abdul Kadar Shaikh both lease holder is residing at Kasaba Falia, near Jumma Masjid, Valod, Ta.:Valod, Dist.: Tapi of Gujarat. They engaed in the business since last 15 years. The site of all of above lease holders are falling within the 1000 meter distance from eachother site. As per provision made in MOEF Circular dated :24/12/2013, We proposed to club lease to get EC for total area of ( ) hector. Now, they have propose to get lease for sand extraction from river pat of Valmiki for 50 MT/Day. For these, they have applied to Geologist Office at Tapi on various date for getting renewal of lease of sand extraction from the eroded river of Valmiki. The lease holders are believes in sustainable development and equally concern about environment preservation and pollution control. The lease holder proposes to provide adequate Environmental Management System to meet desired norms prescribed by the statutory authority. The details about the proprietorship of the lease is given in Table 1 Table 1: Details of Proprietor Sr. Name of the Proprietor Qualification Experience Designation (Years) 1. Mr. Abdul Munaf Abdul Kadar Shaikh B.Com 10 Sand Extractor 1.2 Legal Requirement As per Environmental Impact Assessment Notification 2006 dated 14/09/06 and amended time to time, the project covers under activity 1 (a) of the Category B of the Schedule of the EIA notification. Therefore, this Project for Sand Extraction- 50 MT/day requires obtaining Environmental Clearance Certificate from SEAC. 1.3 Objective The lease holder requires to submitting Pre-Feasibility Report including details of proposed project along with its EC application. The objectives of the report are: A. To assess the feasibility of the proposed plant. B. To identify various sources of pollution and anticipate the impacts of the proposed plant on the environment during operation phases. C. To evaluate Environmental Management Plan to prevent and mitigate the adverse impact on environment due to the project. 01

4 CHAPTER - 2 PROJECT DETAILS 2.1 Project Location The location of the site is at Valmiki River Pat at Vill: Vedchhi & Nalotha, Tal: Valod, Dist.: Tapi of Gujarat State. The site is 50 m away from river bank.it is at Valmiki river at Nalotha. It is toward village side river pat. As per detailed map of surveyor & a Google map, the lease holders apply to the concern Geologist for getting lease for ( ) The salient feature of the proposed plant site and study area is discussed here under: 1. Land Use of Plant Site (% Share) a) Type of land : River Pat( Hactors) 2. Minimum Distances from Plant Site a) Village : 1.0 km b) Railway Station : km c) Highway : GJ 2.0 km d) Air port : km e) Sea Coast : Arabian 60.0 km 3. Displacement of Population : Nil 4. Places of Interest within 10 Km radius from the Plant Site (if any) Sr Place Details Name Distance (km) & Direction from the plant site a. Historical Place No such places within the study area Not Applicable b. Archaeological Place No such places within the study area Not Applicable c. Wildlife sanctuary No such places within the study area Not Applicable d. National park No such places within the study area Not Applicable 2.2 Justification of Site Selection The proposed site of the Sand Extraction is selected by viewing the various factors. Some of the important factors are as follows: The proposed site is situated in stream of river Tapi having easy availability of sand as it is perennial river. Every year during flood in monsoon, it will recoup the site.it is seasonal business running from 15 th November to 14 June of every year. During flood days, work will be closed. Also, the activity will be carried out in day time only.here we attached our site Google map with the co-ordinates. While mapping river width at our site, total width of the river is found 170 m. The depth of the river from river bank side to bottom of main stream found 7 m and from site is 5 m. Development of communication system is good in the region due to proximity to Tapi city. 2.3 Land hectors of river pat land to be used for extraction of sand. A surveyor map is attached. A Google map showing site details with all coordinates is attached. 2.4 Capital Cost of Project Capital cost of the all lease will be of Rs. 0.5 lac.this includes lease fees/royalty, machinery & manpower cost

Then the route will be compacted by machine.thus, stabilized road will be prepared. The lease holders will hire 01 nos of boat. Each equipped with 10 HP diesel driven mud pump to extract the sand from river pat of Valmiki. The machines will Dewatered the mud -100 KLPD. out of 100 KLPD of mud water, 20 KLPD mud water will be return back to the river while 10 KLPD will be absorbed in sand and will evaporated. 20 MTPD gravel will be there while 50 MTPD sand will be received. 1 Truck having 5 trips per day (capacity-10mt of each) will be used per day to transfer 50MT of sand. After loading truck, it will goes to weigh bridge to weigh it. Then truck will be reached to actual users. The activity will be carried out in day time only. The work will be carry out in only off dry season. River mud Dewatering Screening Truck Loading by labour Truck Packing Weighing of Truck Transport Actual user

8 5.2 Air Pollution: During dewatering of river mud, there is moisture in sand. It may prevent air emission. Loading of sand will be carried out by labour only. Thus, there may not be fugitive emission. The moisture content of sand may prevent air emission. Over loading truck may leak the sand.poor body truck may leakage the sand. During transportation, there may be possibility of sand leakage. Rough road may cause leakage of sand. Combustion of diesel in DDMP may cause air pollution. Poor condition truck may cause air emission due to im-proper combustion of diesel. During passing of truck on rough road, may create dust emission. 5.3 Hazardous Waste Generation: Sr. Source of Waste Waste Quantity of Waste No Generation Category Type 1 DDMP 5.1 Used oil 50 Lit/Year

This will be sold out to MOEF recyclers only 6.5 Recurring cost of EMP: Rs. 0.5 lakh will be allotted to make road stabilized, to provide PPE to the workers. 6.6 CREP program: We will provide free of sand to village panchayat for making school room, temple etc, Also, we will provide stationery to the nearby school for student. We will help nearby villager to clean out drain of village

11 CONCLUSION CHAPTER 7 Looking to: The size of project No ecological sensitive like national park / wildlife sanctuary, reserve forest area within 10 Km redial distance from the project site. No any displacement of population (R& R) due to proposed project. Sand as product & river mud as raw material. River stream to be used. Extraction & erosion of river due to activity may be recoup by every year in monsoon by flood. Underwater Dewatering up to 2.5 m depth. Only seasonal activity to be done. Only day time activity to be carried out. No water pollution potential, Mitigation measure suggested for stationry & fugitive emission. The site is away from habitation. we pray to SEAC to consider our project as Category-B2 and may grant EC.
