DETAILS OF MACHINE TO BE USED IN MINING OPERATION: Mining/excavation will be done according to the proposed manner of semi-mechanized workings by using machineries i.e. Hydraulic Excavator, Dumpers, Tractor & Water Tank, Jack Hammer, Wagon Drill will be required to deploy on hire basis for transport purpose. 4. DETAILS OF MEASUREMENT OF QUARRY PIT EARLIER EXCAVATION IN THE AREA TO BE SANCTIONED AND DETAILS OF MINERAL CONCESSIONS SITUATED WITHIN 100 METER PERIPHERY OF THIS AREA No seasonal perennial drainage exists within the lease area. No pit was excavated in the past since this is new lease quarry. The area in surroundings up to 100meters forms a plain topography with miner undulations of waste land form. 5. SCHEME OF TREE PLANTATION: During the plan period, benches will reach the ultimate pit limit. The total exploited Metal Stone shall be transported to crusher plant of making aggregates therefore no waste shall be generated. During the plan period about 0.3Ha area will be used for plantation purposes with in 7.5m barrier zone & plantation will be undertaken towards the southwest slope. The lease area is marked by large exposure of barren land. The lease area is rocky terrain so it is only feasible to undertake the plantation with in lease hold area under 7.5 m barrier after spreading top soil over the strip plantation shall also be undertaken over complete benches. 35no. trees will be planted per year. The tree species recommended are Tactonagrandis (Teak), Azadirachtaindica (Neem),Mangiferaindica (Aam), Acacia Catechu (Khair), Emblicaofficinalis (Amla),MahuncaLatitolia (Mahua), Planting should be done in large sized 90 cm x 90 cm.pits dug in advance and filled with manure about 50 days before planting. The plantation raised earlier should be carefully maintained. Mortalities should be replaced by fresh saplings. Post Plantation Care: Following precaution to be undertaken for the survival of the plants: The saplings will be undertaken for the survival of the plants.
Healthy tree species will be recommends for plantation. Every sapling will be covered by a tree guard to avoid damage through cattle grazing. Necessary arrangement will be provided for watering tree species planted in different parts. 6. DETAILS AND APPROXIMATE DISTANCE OF NATIONAL PARK, SANCTUARY, BIODIVERSITY AREA, INTERSTATE BOUNDARY SITUATED WITHIN PERIPHERY OF 10 KM. FROM THE AREA TO BE SANCTIONED Proposed project does not located inwhole or in part within 10 km. from theboundary of: (Protected areas notified under thewild Life (Protection) Act, 1972., No National Park- No Critically polluted areas as notifiedby the Central Pollution Control Board from time to time:- No Notified Eco-sensitive areas :-No Inter-state boundaries andinternational boundaries :- No 7. PROPOSED ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF MINERAL The yearly production from the quarry is proposed Metal Stone is 8158Cu.mt/year with Manual opencast mining system. 8. EFFECT ON GROUND WATER LEVEL DUE TO MINING OPERATION AND ITS PREVENTIVE MEASURES: There is no perennial water body in the area. Mining activities will not cause adverse impacts as the mineral is non toxic in nature. Lease area is fairly flat reducing the possibility of soil erosion. Garland drain will be made to properly channelize the rain water and wash offs in sedimentation ponds. As the manpower likely to be deployed from nearby village, is not very high discharge of domestic waste water, will be easily controlled with the provision of septic tank and soak pit. The stored water will be used for dust suppression and greenbelt development, etc.
The pit exposed due to mining will become a source for catchment of rain water and in future it will be helpful to improve the water table of the area. 9. DETAILS OF SCHEME OF CONTINUOUS RECLAMATION AND REHABILITATION OF THE LAND DEGRADATION DUE TO MINING OPERATION: Land degradation is one of the major adverse impacts of open cast mining activities and any effort to control adverse impacts would be incomplete without appropriate land reclamation strategy. It is a mining below five hectares lease area, which is very small in nature therefore no damage of the land is anticipated. The area is likely to be degraded due to quarrying, pitting & roads. The impact on the land form or Physiography will be limited to the modification of the slope. The landscape and land use will undergo a radical change due to open cast mining. The impact during plan period is limited as benches will be formed on the already degraded land. Besides these benches, roads will also modify the Physiography. During the plan period, benches will reach the ultimate pit limit. The total exploited Metal Stone shall be transported to crusher plant of making aggregates therefore no waste shall be generated. Reclamation and rehabilitation will be started at the end of mine life which required sufficient quantity of waste etc. for back filling. Availability of waste at the closing time of mine will be very less to meet requirement; hence the mined out pit will be developed as water reservoir in future. 10. DETAILS OF PREVENTIVE AND CONTROL SCHEME OF AIR AND WATER POLLUTION: Air Pollution Control:
The proposed site is located in the remote area having a clean atmosphere. Therefore the quality of ambient air will be as good as heaven. The mining will be in a very small scale, the potential sources of air pollution arising from future mining operations would be drilling, haul roads, exhaust fumes of internal combustion machines, combusting of fuel oil and transportation of Metal Stone. Due to this mining activities air quality will undergo certain significant change. Air pollution caused by mining and associated activities can be classified into the following categories: Gaseous Pollutants (Nitrogen Oxides, Sulphur Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide); and Suspended Particulate Matter. The present level of mining is not anticipated to raise the concentration of the pollutants beyond the prescribed limits. However, the following measures are being adopted in the proposed mining activity to mitigate the PM levels in ambient air. Mitigation Measure: Mining activities will generate certain quantities of dust during drilling, blasting, loading and transportation operations. The following measures will be taken to mitigate the fugitive dust from different operations: To avoid the dust generation from the drilling operations, wet drilling method will be adopted. Drill machines will be equipped with dust collectors. Use of appropriate explosives for blasting and avoiding overcharging of blast holes. Dust mask will be provided to all workers. Provision of dust filters/ mask to workers working at highly dust prone and affected areas. Provision of green belt all along the periphery of the lease area. Periodical monitoring of ambient air quality in and around the lease area. Laying of haul road as per the standards Regular maintenance of haul road and service road to reduce air borne dust. Watering of haul road and other road at regular intervals. Dense plantation being carried in and around the proposed mines will help in combating air pollution.
In case of long transportation the trucks after loading will be covered with tarpaulin sheets. Speed of the vehicles will be maintained within the prescribed limits. Trucks will not be over loaded and will be maintained to the body level. Water Management and Water Pollution Control: Mining activities will not cause adverse impacts as the mineral is non toxic in nature. Lease area is fairly flat reducing the possibility of soil erosion. Garland drain will be made to properly channelize the rain water and wash offs in sedimentation ponds. As the manpower likely to be deployed from nearby village, is not very high discharge of domestic waste water will be easily controlled with the provision of septic tank and soak pit. The stored water will be used for dust suppression, and greenbelt development, etc. Following control measures will be taken to minimize negative due to mining activity; Proposal of garland drain around the excavated pit with the progress of Mining creation of water bodies will take place and accumulated water of the same will be used for dust suppression and green belt development. Drain along the periphery, around the quarry pit will be required together and connected to the proposed water body. Water Consumption (Avg.) Waste Water Generation Source of water 5.0 KLD Only from domestic section, taken care by Soak pit/ Septic tank arrangement Nearby Village Noise Environment: Movement of truck/ dumper will create the transitional noise level. However noise generated by these will be occurring at low level and will be within the prescribed upper limit. Following control measures will be taken to minimize negative impact due to mining activity. Proper maintenance of all machines will be carried out which will reduce noise generation during operations. Workers exposed to high noise levels will be provided with ear defenders.
Proper maintenance of machinery, equipments and improvement on design of machines. Use of personal protective devices i.e. earmuffs and earplugs by workers, working in high noise areas. Provision of green belt all along the periphery of the lease area. Conducting periodical medical checkup of all workers for any noise related health problems Proper training to personnel to create awareness about adverse noise level effects. Noise barriers, silence and enclosures shall be incorporated in the equipment, which emit noise levels. Unnecessary use of horns by the drivers of the vehicles shall be avoided. 11. PROVISIONS FOR SEPARATE STACKING OF SURFACE SOIL EXCAVATED FROM MINING OPERATION AND IT S UTILITY: Top soil in the lease area is very scanty. Available soil will be removed and kept stacked for utilizing for plantation in the backfilled area, when the mine reaches the ultimate limits. Grasses will be planted on the soil along the slopes to prevent wash offs during monsoon and prevent landslides. 12. DETAILS OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC UP GRADATION OF MINING EFFECTED AREA DUE TO PROPOSED PROJECT: 1.00 Hectares of M/s Baghel Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. The Mine has undertaken community development works in order to improve the amenities in nearby villages as a part of commitment towards social and economic upliftment of the area. Mining is expected to have positive impact on socio-economic life of people living in nearby villages. No impact on agricultural lands has been reported due to mining, nor has mining affected the climate of the area. There has been rather an improvement in the status of the people because of increase in income due to direct or indirect employment Mining has created awareness amongst the people for education and general upliftment particularly in the womenfolk.
