1 Learning and Teaching Prfessinal Develpment Framewrk Guide 9: Recrding infrmatin abut yur teaching qualificatins and prfessinal recgnitin / memberships Purpse T assist with the accurate recrding f any teaching qualificatins and/r prfessinal recgnitin and memberships. This will enable Cllege HR teams t update the infrmatin n yur persnal recrd, and ensure we reflect staff qualificatins accurately in natinal statistics. This is an imprtant exercise t help us ensure we can reflect public infrmatin abut NTU academic staff as accurately as pssible. We appreciate yur time in helping the University imprve the quality f ur persnal staff infrmatin. Target audience Cntext Fr all Academic and Research Staff including Hurly-Paid Lecturers checking the infrmatin held n them in their persnal recrd, and recrding infrmatin f their teaching qualificatins/ and prfessinal recgnitin and memberships The Higher Educatin Statistics Agency (HESA) cllects and reprts a wide range f staff and student related infrmatin frm all universities, including infrmatin n the qualificatins held by academic staff, including all hurly-paid lecturers irrespective f the hurs they wrk. Frm the 31 st July 2013, we will be required t include infrmatin abut 10 different categries f teaching qualificatins and prfessinal recgnitin held by ur academic staff (see Table 1 f this guide). We anticipate that this infrmatin is likely t be published as part f the Key Infrmatin Set (KIS) which students and their parents will use t cmpare universities. Infrmatin abut ther academic qualificatins (eg Masters and PhDs) held by academic staff is already published. A recent review f ur NTU academic staff infrmatin revealed significant gaps in the infrmatin. Fr instance, clleagues nt recrded as hlding PhDs and ther higher qualificatins. We are keen, therefre, t update existing infrmatin as well as cllect the new infrmatin with the minimum f disruptin t already busy clleagues. 2 9.1 What s required f all Academic Staff in each Schl (including HPLs) and Research staff: Between Nvember 2012 and February 2013, yu will be prvided with a transcript f yur persnal HR recrd listing the infrmatin recrded abut yur qualificatins. Yu are required t check the accuracy f the current infrmatin listed n it, crrect any errrs, and add in missins using the fllwing guidance: Fr each qualificatin listed r that yu add, please ensure yu : Indicate with an asterisk r the highest academic qualificatin yu hld Write the full award title, any hnurs, the subject r discipline AND the award letters abbreviatin Fr example, Dctr f Philsphy in Envirnmental Sciences, PhD Fr example, Masters f Science in Bimedical Engineering, MSc Fr example, Bachelr f Arts with hnurs in English and Media Studies, BA (hns) Fr example, Bachelr f Music, BMus Fr example, Bachelr f Arts in Music, BA Fr example, Bachelr f Metallurgy, BMet Fr example, Higher Natinal Diplma, HND Avid listing partial award titles such as Masters r Degree r Certificate list the full award r qualificatin title Fr any Vcatinal qualificatins, please indicate level eg Natinal Vcatinal Qualificatin Level 3 in Art, NVQ 3 nt NVQ in Art Avid leaving just the award letters list the title ut in full t ensure it can be recrded accurately Fr example, what qualificatin r award has the abbreviatin: C.A.C.D.P.? 3 Write the qualificatin award - nt the awarding bdy r the curse title Fr example, CCETSW is nt a qualificatin it is an awarding bdy (Central Cuncil fr Educatin and Training in Scial Wrk) list the qualificatin awarded by them Fr example, British Hrse Sciety what is the qualificatin r award? Is this a membership such as Fellw r Member? Fr example BTech HND Btech is the awarding bdy, HND is the qualificatin Fr example D32 state the qualificatin award title and wrding rather than the shrthand number Nte abut recrding teaching qualificatins, prfessinal recgnitin and memberships Table 1 n the next page lists the categries f teaching qualificatin, prfessinal recgnitin and memberships that will be required in ur next HESA return (summer 2013). On the back f yur transcript, yu will find a table f bxes with numbers crrespnding t these categries and an additinal OTHER bx. Please list any teaching qualificatins, prfessinal recgnitin and memberships against the relevant categry. If yu have additinal teaching qualificatins that aren t included, please list them in the OTHER bx. Please remember t write ut yur qualificatins titles as yu wuld wish them t appear n yur recrd, t ensure that HR clleagues have all the infrmatin necessary t enter the data accurately n yur recrd. Please nte there is n need t prduce dcumentary evidence f yur qualificatins etc., at this pint. Our pririty is t update ur staff recrds first. Yur Cllege HR clleagues will then make separate arrangements with each academic team t cpy certificates at a later date. 3 P a g e

There are ptentially many different award titles in this categry, as institutins adpt a variety f curse and award titles. SEDA qualificatins listed are nw accredited against the UKPSF include any SL and LTA awards that predate the UKPSF.
