Equally imprtant is the develpment f values and life skills in each child. This will equip the child t handle the challenges in life later n. A hlistic educatin als supprts students t discver their strengths, interests and talents. Students tend t flurish in areas they are interested in. Thus, as far as pssible, we shuld allw them t pursue their areas f interest. Schls ffer a range f c-curricular prgrammes t help students achieve a hlistic educatin. Cmmunity service is als invaluable in helping students develp qualities such as care, cncern and respect fr thers in sciety. LEAPS LEAPS 2.0 is a framewrk t recgnise secndary schl students hlistic develpment. Students will be recgnised with levels f attainment in fur dmains: Participatin, Achievement, Leadership and Service. SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD As parents, yu play an imprtant rle in ensuring yur child s hlistic and balanced develpment. Yur child benefits mst when the emphasis n develping values, life skills and yur child/ward s interests and strengths are reinfrced at hme. Yu can discuss the fllwing areas with yur child when selecting his/her c-curricular activities: Identifying interests and strengths Example: What is yur child interested in? What is yur child gd at? Setting bjectives Example: What kind f persn des yur child want t be? What kind f values and life skills shuld yur child be develped in? Encuraging self-directed learning Example: Hw des yur child want t pursue this develpment? What are the pssible pprtunities that can help supprt this develpment? Managing cmmitments Example: Is yur child able t cpe? Hw can yu help t supprt him/her in the learning pursuits? 1 LEAPS stands fr Leadership, Enrichment, Achievement, Participatin and Service. LEAPS 2.0 builds n the LEAPS system t better reflect MOE s current emphasis n Student-Centric, Values-Driven educatin. MOE, Singapre

2 LEAPS 2.0 DOMAINS Participatin This dmain recgnises students participatin in ne schl-based 2 C-Curricular Activity (CCA). Recgnitin is based n the number f years f participatin and exemplary cnduct and active cntributin 3 t the CCA. Sustained engagement in the same CCA allws fr prgressive develpment f character, skills, knwledge and friendships, and will be accrded higher recgnitin. Service This dmain recgnises students develpment as scially respnsible citizens wh cntribute meaningfully t the cmmunity. Every secndary schl student will cntribute at least 6 hurs per schl year t the cmmunity. They can chse t embark n a Values-In-Actin prject (VIA). Students will be recgnised fr the time they put int planning, service and reflectin, when participating in a VIA prject. Leadership This dmain recgnises students leadership develpment. Recgnitin is accrded t students ability t take charge f persnal develpment, wrk in a team and assume respnsibilities in service f thers. In additin t frmal leadership appintments, participatin in student leadership mdules/wrkshps, the Natinal Yuth Achievement Award (NYAA) and leadership psitins in the schl, CCA r student-initiated/student-led prjects will als be recgnised. Achievement This dmain recgnises students representatin and accmplishment in c-curricular invlvements beynd the classrm. Opprtunities fr representatin and accmplishment present valuable learning experiences fr students t learn discipline, resilience and develp their character. Students may represent the schl r rganisatins endrsed by the schl. Recgnising external pprtunities better caters t students diverse interests and talents. It als recgnises the cmmunity s rle in develping the child. Representatin refers t being selected and endrsed by the schl r an rganisatin endrsed by the schl (e.g. the cmmunity club r natinal assciatin) t cntribute, perfrm r cmpete. It need nt be tied t his/her CCA in schl. Accmplishment refers t attaining acclades and awards at cmpetitins, festivals, perfrmances, exhibitins, cnferences and sympsiums where the student represents the schl r ther rganisatins endrsed by the schl. The details n the levels f attainment fr each f the dmains are attached at Annex A. 2 Schl-based CCA refers t CCA that are rganised within the schl r have been endrsed by the schl. 3 Schls have prcesses in place t determine exemplary cnduct and active cntributin with respect t their schl s cntext. 3 Recgnitin f Students Level f Attainment At the end f the graduating year, students c-curricular attainment will be recgnised accrding t Excellent/Gd/Fair. The level f attainment will be cnverted t a bnus pint(s) which can be used fr admissin t Junir Clleges/ Plytechnics/ Institutes f Technical Educatin (JC/Ply/ITE). C-Curricular Attainment Excellent (2 bnus pints) Gd (1 bnus pint) Fair Details Student wh attains a minimum Level 3 in all fur dmains with at least a Level 4 in ne dmain. Student wh attains a minimum Level 1 in all fur dmains with any ne f the fllwing: i. At least Level 2 in three dmains; ii. At least Level 2 in ne dmain and at least Level 3 in anther dmain; r iii. At least Level 4 in ne dmain. Student s attainment in c-curricular will nt translate int any bnus pints. Please refer t examples in Annex B.
