9 Chapter 1 Using this Guide This guide prvides infrmatin n the mst widely used features f Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing thse features mst essential t cnducting a Blackbard Cllabrate sessin. Fr infrmatin n all the features, refer t the full Mderatr's Guide. Hw t use this guide It is highly recmmend that yu read the first three chapters f this guide prir t attending a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin. 1. Read Cnventins Used in this Guide n page 3 f this chapter t familiarize yurself with the varius presentatin, frmatting and typgraphical cnventins used in this guide. 2. Fllw the instructins in Getting Started n page 5 t ensure yu have the prper hardware and sftware t run Blackbard Cllabrate and t set up yur Blackbard Cllabrate envirnment. 3. Read The Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Rm n page 11 t familiarize yurself with the Blackbard Cllabrate user interface. Terminlgy The fllwing terms are used in this guide when referring t Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing users: Mderatr Mderatrs have access t all Blackbard Cllabrate features, including the ability t grant Mderatr status t Participants. The persn cnducting a sessin, such as a teacher, is a Mderatr. Participant Participants have restricted access t Blackbard Cllabrate features. Students are typically Participants, althugh Mderatrs can grant Participants Mderatr status. Sessin Attendee Anyne attending the sessin (bth Mderatrs and Participants). Invitee Anyne invited t the sessin (bth Mderatrs and Participants). 11 Technical Supprt Blackbard Cllabrate technical supprt and the supprt Knwledge Base are available thrugh the Supprt Prtal: Cnventins Used in this Guide Operating System Differences This guide is written fr Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing users n all supprted perating systems: Windws, Mac OS X, and Linux. Keystrkes and Muse Clicks The same keystrkes and muse clicks are used n Windws and Linux platfrms. Thse used n Mac OS X are different. This guide gives instructins fr users f all supprted perating systems. The Windws/Linux keystrkes r muse clicks are given first, fllwed by thse fr Mac OS X (in parentheses): Muse Click Example Select the bject and then right-click (Cntrl-Click n Mac) anywhere n the Whitebard t display the cntext menu. Keystrke Example Select the bject(s) in the Whitebard r in the Object Explrer and then enter Ctrl+X (Cmmand-X n Mac) t cut the bject(s). Screen Captures Mst screen captures shwn in this guide were taken in a Windws envirnment. If yu are running Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing n a Mac OS X r Linux platfrm, the appearance f windws, dialg bxes, etc. will differ slightly frm thse shwn in this guide. Variables There are a few places in Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing that are ppulated with data specific t the sessin. Because we d nt knw in advance what thse data (e.g., wrds r names) will be, in this guide they are represented by variables enclsed in angle brackets. Fr example, the variable <Panel Name> is used in the discussin f Restring Default Prefence Setttings t represent the name f the currently selected panel. Using this Guide 3

13 Chapter 2 Getting Started There are a few things yu shuld d befre yu mderate a sessin: Ensure yur cmputer meets the minimum system requirements recmmended fr running a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin n yur cmputer. See Minimum Client System Requirements n page 6. Launch int a private Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin where yu can familiarize yurself with the Whitebard tls r create r review presentatins and/r quizzes prir t jining yur scheduled sessin. (Fr instructins n launching a private sessin, see Launching an Offline Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Sessin n page 1.) Jin a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin. Yu may jin a sessin either thrugh an link sent t yu by yur rganizatin r via a link n a web page. The methd by which yu jin a sessin will vary depending n yur rganizatin. See Jining a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Sessin n page 7. Once yu have successfully launched int a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin, run the Audi Setup Wizard (see Using the Audi Setup Wizard n page 68) and set yur prxy settings (see Setting Yur Prxy Cnfiguratin n page 7). 14 Minimum Client System Requirements Befre yu can get started in a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin, yu shuld ensure that yur cmputer is able t supprt the needs f the cllabratin envirnment. Tip: Fr all users, we strngly recmmend that yu use a headset (r at least headphnes r an ech canceling micrphne) rather than speakers when using simultaneus talkers. This will eliminate ptential eching and feedback and imprve yur audi experience. Yur cmputer shuld meet r exceed the fllwing minimum requirements: Windws Windws XP (32 bit), Windws Vista (32 r 64 bit) r Windws 7 (32 r 64 bit) Pentium III 1 GHz prcessr Mac OS X Linux Mac OS X 10.5 (32 r 64 bit) r Mac OS X 10.6 (32 r 64 bit) G4, G5 r Intel prcessr Ubuntu 9.10 (64 bit) Pentium III 1 GHz prcessr In additin t the abve requirements, all clients require the fllwing: Java versin 1.5 r higher Nte: Fr a 32 bit OS use a 32 bit JVM and fr a 64 bit OS use a 64 bit JVM. 15 Jining a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Sessin Hw yu jin a Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin varies depending n the rganizatin hsting the Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin. Fllw the instructins prvided by the rganizatin hsting yur sessin. Yur System Administratr shuld prvide yu with the fllwing infrmatin: Hw t access yur Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessins. Yur username and passwrd (if applicable). Hw t access yur recrdings. Wh t cntact fr help and where t access the user guides and ther resurce material fr yur system. Setting Yur Prxy Cnfiguratin If yu are cnnecting thrugh an Internet firewall, which is set up t blck bth utbund and inbund cnnectins and web brwsing that is dne thrugh an HTTP r HTTPS prxy server, yu may have t change the Prxy Settings preference in Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing By default, Blackbard Cllabrate inherits the same prxy settings as the brwser it was launched thrugh. If Blackbard Cllabrate is unable t autmatically detect the prxy settings it will be unable t cnnect t the Sessin. In this case, yu may be able t start Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing but nt be able t jin a sessin. If Blackbard Cllabrate encunters a prxy cnfiguratin errr, it will return a Cnnectin failed errr message similar t the ne belw. If this happens, yu may have t change yur Prxy Settings t enable Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing t cmmunicate with yur prxy server. Getting Started 7

16 Nte: Ask yur System Administratr t prvide yu with the necessary prxy server infrmatin. T Cnfigure yur Prxy Settings in the Preferences: 1. Open the Preferences dialg in ne f the fllwing ways: Frm the Edit menu, select Preferences (Windws & Linux) Frm the Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing menu, select Preferences (Mac OS X) Enter Ctrl+Cmma (Windws & Linux) Enter Cmmand-Cmma (Mac OS X) 2. In the left pane f the Preferences dialg, select Prxy Settings under General. The Prxy Settings preferences panel appears. 3. Select the desired Methd ptin frm the Methd drp-dwn list. The chices are the fllwing: Prxy Settings Frm Launcher (<prxy setting>) Blackbard Cllabrate uses the cnnectin settings frm Java Web Start. If manual prxy settings are nt prvided t Java Web Start, it will attempt t detect these settings n its wn and then pass the results t Blackbard Cllabrate This is the default prxy setting and shuld be changed nly if yu are unable t establish a reliable cnnectin. Nte: <prxy setting> will be whichever type f prxy setting is detected by the launcher. 8 Getting Started

17 Direct Cnnectin Specifies that n prxy server is t be used. Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing will cnnect directly t the apprpriate server. SOCKS V4/V5 Prxy Server Specifies that a versin 4 SOCKS prxy server is t be used. HTTPS Prxy Server Specifies that a secure HTTPS prxy server is t be used. HTTP Prxy Server Specifies that an HTTP prxy server is t be used. HTTP Prxy Server (Half-Duplex) Specifies that an HTTP prxy server is t be used in reduced bandwidth half duplex mde. Use this ptin nly if yu have an HTTP prxy server and yu are unable t establish a reliable cnnectin with the previus setting. HTTP Direct Specifies that Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing is t cnnect directly t the server with the HTTP prtcl. While this is similar t a direct cnnectin, the use f the HTTP prtcl may reduce perfrmance and shuld be used nly if a nrmal direct cnnectin is nt pssible. HTTP Direct (Half-Duplex) Specifies that Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing is t cnnect directly t the server with the HTTP prtcl in a reduced bandwidth half duplex mde. Use this ptin nly if yu require an HTTP direct cnnectin and are unable t establish a reliable cnnectin with the previus setting. 4. Enter yur prxy server IP address in the Server field and enter yur prxy serverprt number in the Prt field. (Yu may have t ask yur System Administratr t prvide yu with this infrmatin.) Nte: Fr mre infrmatin n prxy cnfiguratin, visit the Knwledge Base: 5. Click n OK t save yur preferences and clse the Preferences dialg, Apply t save yur preferences and leave the Preferences dialg pen r Cancel t clse the Preference dialg withut saving any f yur changes. When yu cnfigure preferences, Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing will remember the settings each time yu jin anther sessin n the same cmputer. Getting Started 9

19 Chapter 3 The Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Rm The Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing rm cnsists f six main cmpnents: The Menu bar cntains the File, Edit, View, Tls, Windws and Help menus. The Audi & Vide panel enables yu t participate in cnversatins either using a micrphne and speakers (r headset) r via a telecnference. Yu als can transmit and receive Vide during the sessin and preview yur vide befre transmitting it. The Participants panel prvides a list f all Participants and Mderatrs in the sessin and infrmatin abut their current activities, such as talking (Audi), transmitting Vide, sending a Chat message, using the Whitebard drawing tls and cnducting an Applicatin Sharing sessin. Abve the Participants list is a small tlbar cntaining buttns fr raising yur hand and stepping away frm the sessin and menus fr selecting plling respnses and feedback ptins. The Chat panel enables yu t send Chat messages t everyne in the rm r t Mderatrs nly. By selecting names in the Participants list, yu can send private Chat messages t individuals. Messages can be printed and saved t track sessin cmmunicatin. The Cllabratin tlbar cntains three buttns fr switching between the three cntent mdes (Whitebard, Applicatin Sharing and Web Tur), an Infrmatin menu fr btaining sessin infrmatin (e.g., cnnectin type) and starting the Timer, a Lad Cntent buttn fr lading cntent int the sessin and the Recrd buttn. 20 The Cntent area is the main presentatin windw. Mderatrs use this regin t lad presentatins. Everyne can use the tls n the Whitebard t draw r write. All the bjects and images n the Whitebard are dynamic and can be mdified. Everyne can print the Whitebard pages r save them t a file t review later. 1 Title bar 6 Minimize buttn 2 Menu bar 7 Maximize buttn 3 Audi & Vide panel 8 Clse buttn 4 Participants panel 9 Cllabratin tlbar 5 Chat panel 10 Cntent area The Cntent Area Mdes The Whitebard, Applicatin Sharing and Web Tur share space in the Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing interface each represents a "mde" in the cntent area. Althugh Whitebard cntent, Applicatin Sharing cntent and Web Tur cntent may all be laded at the same time, yu will be able t see the cntent f nly ne mde at a time. 12 The Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Rm

21 Only certain users can switch between mdes: Mderatrs with can switch between all mdes. Participants with Applicatin Sharing permissin can switch t Applicatin Sharing mde and back t Whitebard mde. Participants with Web Tur permissin can switch t Web Tur mde and back t Whitebard mde. Participants with Whitebard permissin but nt Applicatin Sharing r Web Tur permissin cannt switch t Whitebard mde frm either f the ther tw mdes. This safeguards against Participants switching mdes during smene else's Web Tur r Applicatin Sharing presentatin. When smene switches mdes, everyne in the sessin will fllw them t the new mde. Be careful nt t inadvertently switch mdes n smene else wh is presenting cntent. Everyne in the sessin will fllw yu t the new mde. T switch mdes, d ne f the fllwing: Click n the buttn in the Cllabratin tlbar assciated with the desired mde. Select the desired mde frm the View menu. Use the keybard shrtcut assciated with the desired mde: Whitebard mde: Ctrl+Alt+W (Cmmand-Optin-W n Mac) Applicatin Sharing mde: Ctrl+Alt+A (Cmmand-Optin-S n Mac) Web Tur mde: Ctrl+Alt+U (Cmmand-Optin-U n Mac) Yu can easily see which mde is selected by nting which buttn in the Cllabratin tlbar is clred. In the Cllabratin tlbar belw, the current mde is Whitebard mde. The Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Rm 13

22 The Menus Mst f the functinality f Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing can be accessed thrugh the menus. In additin t selecting menu ptins with yur muse, yu can use mnemnics and, fr sme functins, keybard shrtcuts. Menus in the Main Menu Bar The fllwing menus are available in Blackbard Cllabrate in the main menu bar: File menu: Cntains file-related cmmands (New, Open, Save and Print) fr Whitebard files, Multimedia files, files fr transfer, quizzes, sessin plans, Chat cnversatins and the Participants list. It is als where yu will find the Exit cmmand fr clsing Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing. Edit menu: Cntains standard editing cmmands (Cut, Cpy, Paste and Select All) and enables yu t pen the Preferences dialg. View menu: Cntains cmmands fr changing yur windw layut and changing cntent mdes (Whitebard, Applicatin Sharing and Web Tur). Tls menu: Cntains sub-menus fr using the varius tls in Blackbard Cllabrate: Applicatin Sharing, Audi, Breakut Rms, Chat, Graphing Calculatr, In-Sessin Invite, Interactin, Mderatr, Plling, Prfile, Recrder, Sessin Plan, Telephny, Timer, Vide and Whitebard. Windw menu: Enables yu t pen the fllwing windws: Activity, Sessin Plan, Graphing Calculatr, Clsed-Captining, Quiz Manager, Ntes, Multimedia Library and File Transfer Library. Help menu: Gives yu access t dcumentatin (a table f Keybard Shrtcuts and the On-Demand Learning Center web site), prvides diagnstic tls (that Supprt persnnel may ask yu t use t help trublesht an issue), enables yu t leave the sessin withut clsing the applicatin (and then rejin it) and prvides general infrmatin abut the Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sftware. Drp-Dwn Menus In additin t the menus in the main menu bar, Blackbard Cllabrate has a number f drpdwn menus thrughut the interface. Tw types f drp-dwn menus are ntewrthy: Optins menus: Mst f the main mdules in the interface have their wn Optins menus t give yu quick access t cmmands specific t thse mdules. (These cmmands als can be fund in the main menus.) 14 The Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing Rm

23 T pen an Optins menu, either click n it with yur muse r use the keybard shrtcut Ctrl+Shift+O (Cmmand-Shift-O n Mac). Tip: The keybard shrtcut will pen the Optins menu f whichever mdule currently has keybard fcus. Be sure t mve fcus t the desired mdule befre using the keybard shrtcut. Participant interactin menus: There are tw menus in the Participants panel that enable yu t enter yur feedback and respnses in the Participants list: the Feedback menu (see Entering Feedback n page 30) and Plling Respnse menu (see Plling n page 33). By default, whatever yu select frm ne f these menus will be displayed in the Participants list (next t yur name) fr everyne t see. (A Mderatr may turn ff the display f plling respnses.) Tip: Yu d nt need t click n these menus t pen them. They will pen up autmatically when yu hver yur muse ver them. Lading Cntent thrugh the Cllabratin Tlbar The Cllabratin tlbar enables yu t lad any type f file int Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing. If the file is f a type used by ne f the mdules listed belw, it will be laded int that mdule: Whitebard (.wbd and.wbp) files will be laded int the Whitebard. It is frm here that yu manage Participants by granting and revking their permissins, inviting r remving Participants t r frm the sessin, sending them t breakut rms, and getting their input thrugh plling. The Participants panel is als the place where yu and ther Participants can view user prfiles and activity indicatrs. A cmplete list f Mderatr and Participant capabilities is prvided in the table in this sectin. Page 19

If permissins are turned n during sessin cnfiguratin, Participants can use all the Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing features except Applicatin Sharing, Web Tur and Clsed Captining. If permissins are turned ff during sessin cnfiguratin, Participants will nly be able t use the buttns in the tlbar (emticns, raise hand, etc.), view prfiles and send Mderatrs private Chat messages. Yu can grant additinal permissins t all Participants at nce using the Glbal ptins menu r t individual Participants using their Participant Optins menus. There als may be times yu want t revke the permissins f Participants, such as when yu want t fcus everyne's full attentin n what yu are presenting r when Participants are abusing their privileges. 30 The table belw shws the icns assciated with each permissin and describes what the permissins entail. Icn Permissins The Audi permissin allws Participants t talk in the sessin. If the permissin is nt granted, they can still listen t thers. The Vide permissin allws Participants t transmit vide in the sessin. If the permissin is nt granted, they can still preview their wn vide and view the vide transmissins f thers. The Chat permissin allws Participants t enter chat messages in the sessin. If the permissin is nt granted, they can still send private chat messages t Mderatrs and read the Chat messages f thers. The Whitebard permissin allws Participants t use the drawing tls in the Whitebard. It desn't allw them t lad cntent (e.g., presentatins) int the Whitebard, which requires Mderatr privileges (see Granting Participants the Mderatr Privilege n page 24), nr t switch t Whitebard mde frm anther mde (see The Cntent Area Mdes n page 12). Neither des it allw them t navigate between pages in the Main rm, which requires the Mderatr t turn ff the Fllw ptin (see The Fllw Optin). If the permissin is nt granted, Participants can still view the Whitebard cntent entered by Mderatrs. The Applicatin Sharing permissin allws Participants t hst an Applicatin Sharing sessin, including switching t Applicatin Sharing mde (see The Cntent Area Mdes n page 12) and back t the Whitebard. It als enables them t request remte cntrl f anyne's Applicatin Sharing sessin r the desktp f Mderatrs r ther Participants wh als have the Applicatin Sharing permissin; in bth cases, the request can be denied by the hst. If the Applicatin Sharing permissin is nt granted, Participants can still view thers' shared applicatins r desktps. The Web Tur permissin allws Participants t hst Web Turs and Web Pushes, including switching t Web Tur mde (see The Cntent Area Mdes n page 12) and back t the Whitebard. If the Web Tur permissin is nt granted, Participants can still view thers' Web Turs. The Clsed-Captining permissin allws Participants t enter text int the Clsed- Captining windw. If this permissin is nt granted, Participants can still read the Clsed-Captining text f thers. (Nte: this permissin can be set nly frm the Participant ptin menu i.e, it cannt be set glbally fr all Participants.) 31 Permissin Indicatrs in the Participants List Only thse individual permissins (granted r revked) that represent exceptins t the glbal permissins are displayed in the Participants list. Yu can view all yur permissins nt just the exceptins in yur Participants panel Status Area. See Viewing all f yur Permissins belw. When yu revke a Participant r Mderatr's permissin t use a glbally permitted feature, the icn representing that feature is stamped with a red X and appears next t their name in the Participants list. In the example belw, the glbal permissins are set t the default (permissin t use Audi, Vide, Chat and Whitebard but nt Applicatin Sharing, Web Tur and Clsed-Captining) and the exceptins t these are indicated by the icns in the Participants list. The Mderatr has granted Charlie the Clsed- Captining permissin and revked his permissin t transmit vide. Lucy has been granted the Applicatin Sharing permissin. Ricky has been granted the Web Tur permissin and his Audi permissin has been revked:. Viewing all f yur Permissins If yu wuld like t see a cmplete list f all yur permissins, nt just the exceptins t the glbal permissins, select Shw My Permissins frm the Glbal Optins menu f the Participants panel. All the individual permissins (granted r revked) that represent exceptins t the glbal permissins are still displayed in the Participants list. The Participants Panel 23

32 Granting and Revking Permissins t and frm Participants T grant r revke permissins t r frm all Participants, select r deselect the desired permissin in the Glbal Optins menu. These changes will nt affect Mderatrs. T grant r revke permissins t r frm individual Participants r Mderatrs, select r deselect the desired permissins in the individual's Participant Optins menu. Depending n yur perating system, a selected permissin will have a faint bx arund it r checkmark n its icn. Nte: Depending n yur sessin cnfiguratin, when all Mderatrs have discnnected frm the sessin, all Participant permissins may be remved t ensure that there is n unsupervised cmmunicatin. Granting Participants the Mderatr Privilege Yu can give Mderatr privileges t ne r mre Participants at any time during yur sessin while still maintaining yur wn Mderatr status. Once yu give Participants Mderatr privileges, they will have the same access t features that yu d, including the ability t grant Mderatr privileges t ther Participants. The nly thing they will nt be able t d is remve the Mderatr privilege frm the Mderatr f Recrd (the persn wh was given Mderatr privileges in the sessin scheduling applicatin). Mderatrs appear at the tp f the Participants list and Participants appear at the bttm: 24 The Participants Panel

33 1. Select a single r multiple Participants in the Participants list. 2. D ne f the fllwing: Drag and drp the selected Participant(s) t the Mderatr sectin at the tp f the Participants list. Right-click (Cntrl-Click n Mac) n the selected Participants t pen the Participants Optin menu and select Give Mderatr Privileges. Alternatively, frm the Tls menu select Mderatr fllwed by Give Mderatr Privilege. 3. The Give Mderatr Privilege cnfirmatin dialg pens. Click Yes t give the selected Participants the Mderatr privilege. The Participants will receive a cnfirmatin message indicating that they are nw a Mderatr and the Participants list is updated fr everyne in the class t see the change in status If any Mderatr exits r is discnnected frm the sessin, the remaining Mderatrs can cntinue. The Mderatr wh was discnnected can rejin the sessin at any time. If all the Mderatrs exit r are discnnected, leaving the sessin withut a Mderatr, all Participant permissins may be remved depending n yur sessin cnfiguratin. T re-establish a Mderatr, the riginal Mderatr f Recrd must re-cnnect t the sessin. Revking Mderatr Privilege Yu can revke Mderatr privileges frm a Participant yu r anther Mderatr prmted earlier. 1. Select a single r multiple Mderatrs in the Participants list. 2. D ne f the fllwing: Drag and drp the selected Mderatr(s) t the Participants sectin at the bttm f the Participants list. Right-click (Cntrl-Click n Mac) n the selected Mderatrs t pen their Participants Optin menu and select Take Away Mderatr Privileges. 34 The Mderatr becmes a Participant and the Participants list updates t reflect this change in status. Nte: When yu remve the Mderatr privilege frm Participants, they will retain any permissins yu had granted them befre they became Mderatrs. Remving Participants T remve ne r mre Participants frm the sessin, d the fllwing: 1. Click n a single Participant s name r highlight multiple Participants in the Participants list. 2. Right-click (Cntrl-Click n Mac) n the selected Participants t pen the Participants Optin menu and select Remve Participant. Alternatively, frm the Tls menu, select Mderatr fllwed by Remve Participant. The Remve Participant dialg appears. 3. Click Yes t remve the Participant(s) frm the Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessin. The Participant is discnnected frm the sessin immediately. Participants can still save r print the Whitebard after being discnnected, unless yu have prtected the Whitebard cntent. If yu have lcked the rm (see Lcking the Sessin belw), then the Participant will nt be able t recnnect. If the rm has been left pen, then the Participant may recnnect. Lcking the Sessin During yur sessin, yu are able t lck the rm t prevent any new Participants frm jining. If any f the Participants that were in the sessin at the time yu lcked it are discnnected, they will still be permitted t re-enter. By default the sessin will remain pen fr Participants t jin at any time. 26 The Participants Panel

35 T lck the sessin, d the fllwing: 1. Frm the Tls menu, select Mderatr. 2. De-select Allw New Participants t Enter Sessin. T unlck the sessin, re-select Allw New Participants t Enter Sessin. Nte: If yu lcked the sessin and then remved a Participant frm the sessin, the banished Participant will nt be able t jin the sessin with the same username and passwrd until the sessin is unlcked. Knwing When Smene has Jined r Left a Sessin There are five ways t tell when smene has jined r left a sessin: The persn s name will appear in the Participants list when they jin the sessin and will be remved when they leave the sessin. An Audible Ntificatin may be played when smene jins r leaves a sessin. A Visual Ntificatin may be displayed when smene jins a sessin. A message will be displayed in the Chat cnversatin area. A message may be displayed in the Activity Windw. Raising and Lwering Yur Hand Mderatrs and Participants can raise their hands at any time during the sessin. The Participants list will indicate wh has raised their hand and in what rder. When a Participant raises their hand, their name ges t the tp f the participant list, just under the Mderatrs. There are tw ways t raise yur hand: Participants panel Click the buttn. Keybard shrtcut Enter Ctrl+R (Cmmand-R n Mac). There are three ways t lwer yur hand: Participants panel Click the buttn. T lwer an individual's hand, pen that user's Participant's Optins menu and select Lwer Hand. T lwer everyne's hands at nce, pen the Glbal Participants Optins menu and select Lwer All Hands. Raised Hand Ntificatin Each time smene raises their hand, yu may be ntified in ne r bth f the fllwing ways: A red hand icn will appear ver the prfile picture (r avatar) f the persn wh raised their hand. A number will appear under their name indicating where they are in the queue f thse wh have raised their hands (the rder in which hands were raised). An Audible Ntificatin may be played. Yu can cnfigure yur Audible Ntificatin preferences t play ne sund when yu raise yur wn hand and anther when smene else raises theirs r yu can turn the sund ff altgether. Autmatically Raise Hand upn Entering a Sessin As the Mderatr, yu may wish t be ntified when anyne enters the sessin. The Aut Raise Hand feature is used fr this purpse: when anyne jins the sessin his r her hand will autmatically be raised. Yu can turn this feature n by pening the Tls menu fllwed by the Interactin menu and checking the ptin Raise Hand upn Entering. T turn the feature ff, uncheck the same ptin. 28 The Participants Panel

37 Stepping Away The Step Away feature enables yu t indicate t the thers in the sessin that yu are temprarily unavailable. Yu are still cnnected t the sessin and can see and hear everything that is ging n thers just wn't expect yu t be available fr interactin. There are three ways t shw that yu have stepped away: Click n the buttn in the Participants panel. Frm the Tls menu, select Interactin and then select Step Away. Enter Ctrl+Shift+A (Shift-Cmmand-A n Mac). The Step Away indicatr (clck icn and the wrd "Away") will appear next t yur name in the Participants list fr everyne t see. Yu will als see the indicatr next t yur name in the Status area (tp) f the Participants panel. Stepping Back There are three ways t shw that yu have stepped back int the sessin: Click n the buttn in the Participants panel. Frm the Tls menu, select Interactin and then unselect Step Away. Press Ctrl+Shift+A (Shift-Cmmand-A n Mac). The Step Away indicatr will be remved frm the Participants list s thers will knw yu are back in the sessin. The Participants Panel 29

Fr the Whitebard, the indicatrs tell Mderatrs wh is receiving cntent (amber status indicatr) and wh hasn't received all the cntent n the current page (red status indicatr). These ptins affect what is shwn in the primary vide display. If the default ptins are maintained (and yu are nt previewing yur wn vide), the fllwing happens in the primary vide display as peple jin the sessin, transmit vide r speak: If yu are the first persn in the sessin, yur primary vide display will be blank. If yu click n the Transmit Vide buttn, yu will see yur wn transmissin in the primary vide display. When a secnd persn jins the sessin, yu will see their vide transmissin r, if they are nt transmitting vide, their prfile picture. It is assumed yu will want t lk at that persn, nt yurself, regardless f wh is speaking. (This happens even if neither f yu has spken.) As subsequent peple transmit vide r speak, their vide transmissins r prfile pictures are added as thumbnails. Nte: There is ne exceptin: if neither f the first tw parties is transmitting vide, when a third persn jins the sessin, the primary vide display will g blank until smene transmits vide r speaks. When smene speaks, yur primary vide display will always shw either the prfile picture r the vide transmissin f the persn currently speaking r, if n ne is speaking, the last persn t speak (even if that speaker has left the rm). Multiple Simultaneus Cameras Sessins can be enhanced by having the vide streams f multiple peple displayed at nce. Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing has the capacity t shw the transmissins f up t six vide cameras simultaneusly. Mderatrs can disable multiple simultaneus cameras (by setting the maximum allwed t ne) r enable frm tw t six simultaneus cameras. Setting Maximum Simultaneus Cameras The maximum number f simultaneus cameras allwed is initially set by the sessin creatr. As a Mderatr, yu can verride this default at any time during a sessin. Cautin: When using multiple simultaneus cameras in cnjunctin with breakut rms, Blackbard Cllabrate will allw yu t have six active cameras in each rm. Hwever, since vide is bandwidth intensive, using mre than six ttal active cameras in a sessin will affect the quality and speed f vide in all breakut rms and the main rm. It is recmmended that yu limit the number f active cameras t six acrss all rms in the sessin. T cnfigure the maximum number f simultaneus cameras allwed in a rm, d the fllwing: Vide Bradcast 51

Cntrlling the Primary Vide Display The primary vide display can be cntrlled in three ways: setting the Make Vide Fllw Mderatr Fcus ptin, setting the Make Vide Fllw Speaker ptin, and by manually selecting what t display. The Make Vide Fllw Mderatr Fcus ptin is set by Mderatrs nly and verrides an individual's Make Vide Fllw Speaker ptin. Bth ptins verride a persn's ability t manually select what vide stream t shw in the primary vide display. Nte: When images change in the primary vide display, they may be a bit fuzzy fr a few secnds while the server changes the reslutin f the new image frm lw (which is what is used fr thumbnails) t a higher reslutin (which is used in the primary display). Make Vide Fllw Mderatr Fcus Mderatrs can use the Make Vide Fllw Mderatr Fcus ptin t frce everyne in the rm t see the same thing in their primary vide display as what the Mderatr is seeing in his r her primary vide display. This ptin verrides all ther methds f cntrlling the primary vide display. If there is mre than ne Mderatr in a sessin, a secnd Mderatr can verride what the first Mderatr set as the primary vide display. Be careful nt t disrupt anther Mderatr's presentatin by inadvertently changing yur primary vide display. 52 Vide Bradcast

Manually Selecting What t Display If Make Vide Fllw Mderatr Fcus and Make Vide Fllw Speaker are turned ff, yu can manually cntrl what is displayed in yur primary vide display. T mve a thumbnail image int the primary vide display, simply click n the thumbnail. The image that was riginally in the primary display will mve t the thumbnail in which the mved image previusly resided the images swap places. Setting Vide Permissin fr Participants The Vide permissin is included in the default set f Glbal permissins s all Participants are granted the permissin t talk upn jining the sessin. (Permissins must be turned n when the sessin is scheduled. Fr mre infrmatin n cnfiguratin f Glbal permissins during sessin creatin, see Understanding Permissins n page 21.) There may be times when yu want t turn the Vide permissin ff such as when yu want t eliminate distractins and fcus the Participants attentin n the infrmatin yu are presenting. New Messages in Other Cnversatin Tabs If yu are nt in a cnversatin when a message arrives, yu will see a New Message Indicatr (Chat bubble) in the tab f that cnversatin. Cnversatin Tabs When chatting in Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing, yu can participate in mre than ne cnversatin at a time. These cnversatins take place under cnversatin tabs. 66 When a new private cnversatin is initiated (by yu r by smene else with yu), a new cnversatin tab is added t the bttm f the Chat panel fr that cnversatin. As mre private chat cnversatins are initiated, mre tabs are pened. When yu run ut f space fr mre tabs, new cnversatin tabs are added t a list n the right side f the Chat panel. Just click n the duble arrw icn t pen the list f hidden cnversatin tabs. Nte that, when there is a new Chat message in a cnversatin (ne in which yu are currently nt participating), a New Message Indicatr (Chat bubble) is displayed in its tab. In the example abve, there is a new message in the cnversatin with Lisa. Mving Between Cnversatins Yu can mve freely between cnversatins simply by clicking n the cnversatin tabs. Yu will be able t catch up n all the messages thers entered while yu were away. Nte: Yu will nt be able t see the Chat messages that thers entered while yu were ut f a rm, even if yu had previusly been in that rm. Fr example, if yu mved t a breakut rm frm the main rm, any messages entered in the main rm while yu were gne will nt be visible t yu. Yu will, hwever, retain a histry f the messages yu entered in the main rm befre yu mved t the breakut rm. Reading Private Chat Messages When the Sessin is Supervised The sessin creatr can cnfigure a sessin t be supervised, meaning that Mderatrs (by default) will be able t see the activity f everyne in the sessin, including their private messages t each ther. 76 Basic Audi Cnfiguratin Generally speaking, it is recmmended that yu cnfigure yur Audi befre the sessin begins. There are a number f Audi settings that yu can cnfigure but yu will likely nly need t set yur micrphne and speaker levels (see Using the Audi Setup Wizard n page 68) and cnfigure simultaneus talkers (see Cnfiguring Simultaneus Talkers n page 70). The ther available cnfiguratin items are advanced and, in mst cases, yu prbably wn t need t mdify them. Hwever, if yu wish t mdify the advanced Audi settings, yu can d s in the Preferences dialg. Using the Audi Setup Wizard T verify that yur Audi is set up crrectly, we recmmend that yu use the Audi Setup Wizard befre the sessin begins. This wizard is cmprised f a series f panels that guide yu thrugh selecting Audi input (micrphne) and utput (speaker) devices and setting yur speaker and micrphne vlumes. Tip: T run the Audi Setup Wizard befre yur sessin begins, either jin yur sessin early r pen the Cnfiguratin Rm n the Blackbard Cllabrate Supprt Prtal: T pen the Cnfiguratin Rm, brwse t First Time Users and then t Step 2 under Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing. Yu can run the Audi Setup Wizard again at any time within yur sessin. Nte: When yu are using the Audi Setup Wizard during a sessin, yu will nt be able t hear any f the sessin Audi. T turn yur micrphne ff, again click n the Talk buttn r use the keybard shrtcut. Ntice that, when activated, yur Talk buttn displays a blue micrphne. Tip: If yur Talk buttn is inaccessible (grayed ut) it may be because a Mderatr has remved yur Audi permissin, the maximum number f simultaneus talkers has been reached r yu are using the Telephny feature fr audi cmmunicatins. 80 Adjusting Micrphne and Speaker Levels The micrphne level indicatr (micrphne icn) shws the vlume levels when yu are speaking and the speaker level indicatr (speaker icn) shws the vlume levels when smene else is speaking. Tip: If all talkers have their micrphnes set prperly, listeners wn t need t keep adjusting their speakers t accmmdate changes in vlume. The best way t ensure prper micrphne and speaker levels is t run the Audi Setup Wizard at the beginning f the sessin. See Using the Audi Setup Wizard n page 68. Lading External Cntent int the Whitebard A number f different file types can be laded int the Whitebard as Whitebard pages: Whitebard files, image files and PwerPint and OpenOffice.rg presentatins (see The Page Explrer belw). Befre yu lad cntent int the Whitebard, it is a gd idea t check yur cntent lading ptins in the Whitebard Cntent Optins preferences panel (see Setting Whitebard Preferences n page 89). Lcate the file yu want t lad and select it. If yu are lading a PwerPint r OpenOffice.rg presentatin, the Lad Whitebard Data File windw will pen and shw yu the prgress f the cnversin f the PwerPint file t a Whitebard file. Each presentatin slide will be laded nt a separate Whitebard page as a static image in the backgrund and the title frm each slide will appear as the page name. Images will be laded nt a new Whitebard page and will be centered n the page as a backgrund image. 82 The Whitebard

The Tls Palette The Tls palette cntains drawing and text tls yu can use t create and manipulate bjects in the wrkspace. It als has ptins t place a screensht r clip art frm the included libraries. Frm here yu can frmat yur text r graphic by specifying varius prperties. The cntents f the Prperties Editr palette changes depending n which tl is being used r which bjects are selected. Fr example, if yu are using the Filled Ellipse r Filled Rectangle tl, the Prperties Editr will present clr buttns nly. The Prperties Editr fr the Simple Text and Text Editr tls cntains buttns t set clr, fnt, size and style prperties. Nte: If yu select tw different kinds f bjects, the Prperties Editr Palette will display the attributes cmmn t thse bjects. Nte: When changing the clr n the Prperties Editr, clicking utside the clr palette fr the first time clses the palette. Click a secnd time t start drawing. Inserting Text The Whitebard has tw text tls. The Simple Text tl creates text as an bject directly n the canvas. The text can be manipulated just like a shape r image in a graphic design prgram. The Text Bx tl creates a bunding bx fr text, and the text inside can be edited as in a wrd prcessr r publishing prgram. Using the Simple Text Tl Fllw the steps belw t enter a single line f text: 1. Click n the Simple Text tl. If the Simple Text tl is nt in the Tls Palette, click and hld the Text Bx tl until it expands t reveal the Simple Text tl icn, the click n the Simple Text tl. 2. 93 3. Click the Whitebard t place an insertin pint, and then type the text. 4. Press Enter when yu are dne typing the line f text. Nte: The Simple Text Tl lets yu type nly ne line f text at a time. Yu cannt insert a line break and the text des nt autmatically wrap t the next line when it reaches the edge f the Whitebard page, as the Text Editr des. Using the Text Editr Tl Fllw the steps belw t enter multiple lines f wrapping text: 1. Click n the Text Bx tl. If the Text Bx tl is nt in the Tls Palette, click and hld the Simple Text tl until it expands t reveal the Text Bx tl icn, then click n the Text Bx tl. 2. Single-click n the Whitebard t create a text bx f the default size (250 x 70 pixels). Alternatively, click and hld dwn the muse buttn as yu drag the cursr t create a text bx f the desired size. Either way, the Prperties Editr will appear at the bttm f the Whitebard. 3. Select the fnt name, clr, size, bld, underline and/r italics frm the Prperties Editr. 4. Type yur text, pressing Enter when yu want t create a new line f text within the text bx. Nte: If the amunt f text yu type exceeds the space available in the text bx, a scrll bar will appear n the right side f the text bx. If yu dn t want the scrll bar, resize the text bx t display all the text. Nte: The maximum number f characters that can be entered in a Text Editr bject is 10,000. Inserting External Links Yu can insert links int Whitebard text using either the Simple Text tl r the Text Editr tl. Anyne viewing yur Whitebard page will be able t click n yur links t access an Internet site r send an . Nte: T enter a link using the Simple Text tl, d nt enter any text except that cntained in the link. If yu d, the link will nt wrk. The Whitebard 85

Inserting Screen Captures The Screen Capture tl creates an image f a prtin f yur desktp, any applicatin, r web site and lads it int the Whitebard. Fllw the steps belw t capture a screen image: 1. 97 2. Click inside the frame and drag it int psitin n the screen s that the desired area is cmpletely enclsed by it. Click and drag the edges f the frame t resize it. Switching between prgrams r perfrming certain ther tasks under the frame may cause the frame t stp updating. Click Refresh t manually update the frame if this ccurs. 3. D ne f the fllwing: Select the ptin OK t capture exactly what is enclsed in the frame at that mment. Select With Delay t add a ten secnd delay befre the frame is captured. This gives sme time t psitin the cursr r ther feature f the desktp that must be maintained with the muse in rder t be captured. Select Cancel t clse the frame withut capturing an image. 4. The image appears n the Whitebard. Psitin the image n the Whitebard by dragging it t a new lcatin and click n the Whitebard regin t anchr it in psitin. Setting Whitebard Preferences The Whitebard Cntent Optins preferences panel is used t set cntent lading ptins and Whitebard page size. T set the ptins, d the fllwing: 1. 99 Page Size: Yu can size yur pages fr a specific mnitr reslutin r yu can specify the width and height in pixels. If yu select Mnitr Reslutin, use the drp-dwn menu t chse the apprpriate reslutin frm the list. The default screen reslutin is 1024 by 768 pixels. If yu select Canvas Size, enter the Width and Height in the text bxes prvided. Each f the Mnitr Reslutin ptins has a crrespnding Canvas Size they are just tw ways f expressing the same thing. These ptins can be used interchangeably. Presentatin Imprt Optins: When selected, the Include Speaker Ntes ptin will place the presenter ntes frm yur imprted PwerPint r OpenOffice.rg presentatin int the Ntes editr f all sessin attendees. OpenOffice.rg Applicatin: The OpenOffice.rg executable will be fund autmatically n Mac and Windws systems if yu select the ptin Use default OpenOffice.rg installatin (this is the default). If yu wish t use an installatin ther than the default, unselect Use default OpenOffice.rg installatin and brwse t the lcatin f that installatin. 4. Click n OK t save yur preferences and clse the Preferences dialg, Apply t save yur preferences and leave the Preferences dialg pen r Cancel t clse the Preference dialg withut saving any f yur changes. When yu cnfigure preferences, Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing will remember the settings each time yu jin anther sessin n the same cmputer. Wrking with Whitebard Pages The Whitebard can have multiple pages at a time, rganized int Grups. At launch, there are tw Grups available t each Mderatr, the Main Rm Grup and a private Wrk Area. In additin, new Grups are autmatically created fr each Breakut Rm upn that rm's creatin. Pages can be mved amngst Grups and rms thrugh the Page Explrer (see Using the Page Explrer n next page). Certain page Grups have special prperties: The Main Rm When yu first jin a sessin, yu will have ne Whitebard page in the main rm. This wrk area is public and available t all sessin attendees. 100 Breakut Rms Each Breakut Rm has its wn page Grup just like the Main Rm. Mderatrs can view any page in any public Grup at any time, but ther Participants can nly view the pages in their current Rm. If a Mderatr navigates t a page in a different Rm, the ther Participants will remain n their current page in their wn Rm's Grup. Private Wrk Area Each Mderatr has access t a private wrk area. N ne else in the sessin, including ther Mderatrs, can view a Mderatr's private wrk area. If a Mderatr navigates t their private wrk area, Participants are left n the last public page that the Mderatr viewed. Page Grups Mderatrs can create additinal Page Grups. Page Grups are nly visible t Participants in the Main Rm. Using the Page Explrer The Page Explrer allws Mderatrs t rearrange pages and page Grups, navigate t Private Page Grups r Page Grups belnging t breakut rms, edit the page prperties f multiple pages at nce, r delete pages. The Page Explrer can als be used fr navigating thrugh pages. Fr details, see Navigating Between Pages n page 94. Frm the Tls menu, select Whitebard fllwed by Shw Page Cunt and select ne f the three ptins: Shw t All, Shw t Mderatrs Only (default) and Disable Page Cunt. The Fllw ptin lets yu cntrl whether r nt thers in the sessin will "fllw" yu as yu navigate thrugh pages in the Whitebard. By default, it is enabled in the main rm and disabled in breakut rms. Fr mre infrmatin, see The Fllw Optin. Explre Mde enables a Mderatr t navigate t ther pages while leaving Participants n the current page when Explre Mde was activated. Fr mre infrmatin, see Explre Mde belw. The Navigatin Optins menu cntains a menu item t pen the page Explrer. Fr mre infrmatin, see Using the Page Explrer n page 92. Explre Mde Explre Mde permits yu t navigate thrugh pages withut mving ther sessin attendees t thse pages. Use Explre Mde when yu want t lck thers' view n yur current Whitebard page while yu ram thrugh different pages. If yu ramed t a page in a different rm, Fllw will autmatically be disabled s yu will just have t re-enable it. Creating New Blank Pages All new Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing sessins cntain at least ne Main Rm page and ne Private wrk area page fr each Mderatr. T create a single blank page: On the Whitebard Actin Bar, click New Page. A single new page is created directly after the current page in the same page Grup, and the page creatr ges directly t the new page. If the page Grup is viewable by thers and the creatr is nt in Explre Mde, all ther Participants in the same rm wh are nt in Explre Mde will als g t the new page. T create multiple pages r pages with mre ptins, fllw the steps belw: 1. Open the Create New Pages dialg in ne f the fllwing ways: In the File menu, select New, fllwed by Whitebard Page. The Create New Pages dialg pens. In the Page Explrer, right-click (Cntrl-click n the Mac) n a page r page Grup. Select New frm the cntext menu, fllwed by Whitebard Page Type Cntrl+N (Cmmand-N n the Mac) and select Whitebard Page in the New dialg. The Create New Pages dialg pens. 96 The Whitebard

105 2. In the Page Lcatin bx, select a psitin fr the new page(s). After current page places the page(s) after the current page in the same page Grup. Befre current page places it befre that page in the page Grup. At end places the page(s) as the last in the Grup. If the dialg was pened thrugh the Page Explrer, current page refers t the selected page in the Page Explrer rather than the currently viewed page. If the Create New Pages dialg was pened by selecting a page Grup instead f a page in the Page Explrer, n ptins in the Page Lcatin bx are selectable and the new page(s) always appears at the end f the Grup. 3. In the Page Size bx, select r specify a canvas size. Select Mnitr Reslutin t chse frm cmmn cmputer mnitr reslutins in the drp-dwn list t the right. Select Canvas Size t enter a custm size in the text bxes t the right. 4. T create mre than ne page, type a number in the Number f new pages text bx. 5. Optinally, give the pages custm names by clicking n the default name in the Page Name clumn and typing a new ne. 6. Click OK. The pages are added sequentially in the psitin selected in Step 2. Nte: If multiple pages frm multiple Grups were selected in the Page Explrer, page(s) will be added in the selected psitin in relatin t each f them. Thus if the Number f new pages was 1, tw pages are created, ne in each Grup. If the Number f new pages was 2, fur pages are created. Etc. Renaming Pages The names f new pages can be renamed frm their default names. The Whitebard 97

106 1. Right-click (Cntrl-click n Mac) n the page yu want t rename t pen the page cntext menu. 2. Select Selected Pages and then Current Page Prperties The Page Prperties dialg will pen. 3. Duble click n the Page Name t enable editing. 4. Type yur new name and click OK. Rearranging Pages Pages can be rearranged and cpied using the Page Explrer. T mve a page, simply select and drag the page(s) t the desired psitin. T duplicate a page, hld dwn the Cntrl key (Optin n Mac), click n the page which yu want t cpy, and drag it t the psitin where yu wuld like place the duplicate. Release the muse befre releasing the Cntrl key (if yu release Cntrl first, yu will end up mving the riginal page rather than cpying it). A plus (+) symbl verlaying the muse cursr indicates that the page will be cpied instead f mved. Cutting, Cpying, Pasting and Deleting Pages Yu can cut, cpy, paste, and delete pages frm the Whitebard. Cutting Pages Cutting a Whitebard page remves the page frm its Grup and places it n the clipbard. The clipbard is verwritten whenever yu cut r cpy anther page. 98 The Whitebard

Pasting Pages Yu must have previusly cut r cpied a page t have placed it in the clipbard. The last page r pages placed in the clipbard will be the page(s) that will be pasted. These files are prtected and cannt be printed, saved, r edited unless the Mderatr remves the prtectin flag by selecting Tls, then Whitebard, and deselecting the cmmand Prtect Whitebard. PDF File When Whitebard pages are saved as a PDF file (.pdf), they are saved as ne file and can be reviewed utside f the Blackbard Cllabrate envirnment. PNG File When Whitebard pages are saved as Image files (.png), they are saved as separate images and can be laded individually nt the Whitebard as images r used in any ther image prcessing applicatin. It is the primary Whitebard permissin (managed thrugh the Participants list) and therefre simply referred t as the "Whitebard permissin". The Whitebard Page Navigatin Permissin allws Participants t mve between Whitebard pages. It is a secndary permissin that is managed by an ptin in the Whitebard Navigatin bar. Whitebard Tls Permissin By default, Participants may be granted the permissin t use Whitebard tls. Hwever, yu may want t turn that permissin ff when yu dn t want Participants t be able t alter the cntent yu are presenting. When yu remve the Whitebard tls permissin, the Participant s Tls palette will disappear preventing Participants frm entering cntent in the wrkspace. The Whitebard permissin is included in the default set f Glbal permissins s all Participants are granted the permissin t use the Whitebard tls upn jining the sessin. (Permissins must be turned n when the sessin is scheduled. Fr mre infrmatin n cnfiguratin f Glbal permissins during sessin creatin, see Understanding Permissins n page 21.) The Whitebard permissin des nt enable Participants t create and manage pages. It is primarily a permissin t create and manage bjects. There may be times when yu want t turn the Whitebard permissin ff such as when yu want t eliminate distractins and fcus the Participants attentin n the infrmatin yu are presenting. When yu remve the Whitebard permissin frm Participants, the Tls Palette is remved frm their Whitebard cntent areas. Participants will always be able t view Whitebard pages. T remve the Whitebard permissin frm all Participants at nce, deselect Whitebard in the Glbal Optins menu. T remve the Whitebard permissin frm an individual Participant, deselect Whitebard in their Participant Optins menu. Participants d nt need the Applicatin Sharing permissin t view anther persn's Applicatin Sharing sessin. T grant the Applicatin Sharing permissin t all Participants at nce, select Applicatin Sharing in the Glbal Optins menu. T grant the Applicatin Sharing permissin t an individual Participant, select Applicatin Sharing in their Participant Optins menu. Scaling the Shared Cntent The screen area shared by the Hst can be scaled t fit the Cntent area r viewed at its native size. T view the cntent at the same size as the Hst, d ne f the fllwing: Uncheck Scale T Fit in the Actin bar. Frm the Tls menu select Applicatin Sharing and then uncheck Scale t Fit. If a Mderatr switches t Whitebard r Web Tur mde, the share will still be active, but nt visible until a Mderatr switches back t Applicatin Sharing mde. Pausing a Share A paused Share stps refreshing fr remte Participants, but can be easily restarted later. A Share is effectively paused if a Mderatr switches t Whitebard r Web Tur mde. T pause a share, d ne f the fllwing: In the Actin bar, click Pause Sharing. Open the Tls menu, fllwed by Applicatin Sharing, and click Pause Applicatin Sharing. Select Send Snapsht t Whitebard with Delay t take the Snapsht after a ten secnd delay. Blackbard Cllabrate Web Cnferencing switches autmatically t Whitebard mde and pauses the Share until the hst resumes it.the snapsht will be placed as the backgrund image f a new Whitebard slide, immediately after the current Whitebard page. The title f the new page will be Applicatin Sharing Image x, where x is an incremental number. Giving Cntrl f an Applicatin Share t Anther Yu can give viewers f an Applicatin Sharing sessin the ability t remtely cntrl the shared applicatin r desktp. Participants d nt need the Applicatin Sharing permissin t take cntrl. (They d, hwever, require the Applicatin Sharing permissin t request cntrl.) Thse with cntrl ver a remte applicatin r desktp can mve the muse cursr, click, and type. The Hst als retains cntrl at all times, and can revke cntrl frm the remte cntrller at any time. Only the Hst and ne ther persn can share cntrl at nce. When sharing an applicatin windw r a prgram, the remte participant's cntrl is limited nly t that applicatin.
