5 VCARD Golf Tournament Coming Soon! VCARD s 2013 FunRaiser Golf Tournament will be Friday afternoon, May 17 at Halifax Plantation Golf Club, 3400 Clubhouse Drive, Ormond Beach. This tournament is open to members of the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce. Player entry fee to this popular annual event is $100 which includes many prizes, lunch, complimentary refreshments throughout the day, and a post tournament dinner and awards reception. There also are opportunities for foursome and hole sponsorships. Team Volusia s Annual Meeting Brought New Goals to the Table January 30th s Team Volusia Annual Meeting at the Daytona 500 Club was the first stop on the road to economic success. Team Volusia Economic Development Corp. s Outgoing Chairman Daryl Tol, Florida Hospital, stated that It s been a great year. Team Volusia was accountable for a variety of accomplishments; some including hiring a new chief executive officer, veteran economic development professional Keith Norden, after inaugural CEO Helen Cauthen abruptly resigned. Other notable accomplishments included creating 44 new local jobs and making contact with 15 businesses interested in re-locating or expanding to Volusia County. Tol stated, We had a great success for a year many would consider a year of transition. Daryl Tol passed the gavel to Incoming Chairman John Ferguson, Cobb Cole Attorneys at Law. Ferguson agreed to work tirelessly with Team Volusia in their collaborative efforts of economic development. Keynote speaker Kate McEnroe of Kate McEnroe Consulting offered several effective tips for economic development: - Mitigating your brand as a community -Communities needing to focus on attracting businesses in a few key target industries -Collaboration within a community -Information investment between economic groups -Making realistic community goals, having a consistent message, and a patient approach will be a new year full of economic changes for Volusia County, and Team Volusia has their foot in the right spot. 5

6 Official 2013 Bike Week Parade Presented by Harley-Davidson Scheduled to Roar Into Town In the second year of its resurgence, the much loved Community Appreciation Parade will be held on Saturday, March 16th, the second Saturday of Bike Week! An iconic event for several decades, the Bike Week Parade was absent for a few years before reemerging in Last year kicked off a rebirth of the event that was very well received by visitors and residents alike. Bike Week Festival Task Force Parade Chairman Phil Maroney spoke of the event s second year revival, The parade is an ideal way for our business community to say thank you to our visitors and for us to say thank you to our community for hosting the event. Many thanks also go to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company for again stepping up to the plate as Presenting Sponsor of the parade. It s a fitting role for Harley, as they were there since the event s inception, and we certainly appreciate their continued support. All participants interested in riding motorcycles in the parade should congregate at the Ocean Center south parking lot on Saturday, March 16th beginning at 7AM, where staging for the parade will occur. At 9AM the Parade will leave the Ocean Center with an escort of the Daytona Beach Police Department Motorcycle Unit. The parade procession will ultimately arrive at the Daytona International Speedway - a parade nearly 5.25 miles long! Along the route, community businesses and residents will demonstrate their pride and appreciation for hosting the World s Largest Motorcycle Event. At the Daytona International Speedway, home of the DAYTONA 200, the riders will be greeted by an event that includes hundreds of vendors and exciting entertainment.
