InfiniTV 4 Installatin Instructins 1. Obtain a CableCARD frm yur cable TV service prvider 1. Call yur cable TV service prvider and tell them yu need a multi-stream CableCARD (M-Card) fr a Cetn InfiniTV 4 OCUR digital cable tuner installatin in a Windws 7 PC. Yu can g t yur lcal cable cmpany t pick up a CableCARD and install it yurself; if yu chse, yur cable TV service prvider may als send a technician t yur hme t install it. If yu live in an area where Switched Digital Vide (SDV) has been deplyed, yu will als need a Tuning Adapter frm yur cable TV prvider in rder t receive all digital cable TV channels. Typical CableCARD Befre yu receive a CableCARD, yu can cmplete steps 2, 3, and 4 belw in preparatin fr setting up Windws Media Center. This will help expedite installatin if a cable TV technician cmes t yur hme. Cmpletin f Step 5, Set up Windws Media Center fr Cable TV, requires a cable TV cnnectin and a CableCARD installed in the InfiniTV in rder fr Media Center t be set up crrectly. Nte: Due t an incmpatibility between Analg NTSC channels and Media Center setup fr Digital Cable TV, the Cetn InfiniTV 4 cannt be set up fr use as a Clear QAM tuner in Media Center withut a CableCARD. 2. Install the Cetn InfiniTV 4 Card in yur PC 1. Turn yur cmputer system ff and discnnect the pwer cable. 2. Install the Cetn InfiniTV 4 in any pen PCIe slt. It can be PCIe x1, x4, x8 r x16. Nte: Sme PC mtherbards disable nbard graphics when any PCIe card is inserted in an x16 slt. Yur InfiniTV 4 cmes with bth high and lw prfile backplates t accmmdate many PC cnfiguratins. Yu may need t swap backplates depending n the type f PC yu are using. Yu can d this by unscrewing the tw screws that cnnect the backplate t the InfiniTV 4 bard, as seen next t the yellw arrws in the image t the right, and replacing the screws with the ther supplied backplate. 1 Cetn InfiniTV 4 Installatin Instructins
3. Attach the F-cnnectr end f the supplied cax adapter cable t the cable TV utlet in yur hme by using a standard RG-6 cax cable. Push the ther end f the cax adapter cable nt the cnnectr n the back f the InfiniTV 4 card (see image abve). D nt try t screw it n. Make sure the cable is seated all the way nt the prt. Cax Adapter Cable 4. Insert the CableCARD int the CableCARD slt in the back f the InfiniTV 4 card. The tp f the CableCARD is designated by a number f small bumps n the end that cnnects int the InfiniTV. When yu plug the CableCARD int yur InfiniTV, ensure that the tp f yur CableCARD is facing away frm the cax adapter plug. 6. If yu require a Tuning Adapter, yur cable TV prvider will assist yu with its installatin. Yu ll want t fllw ne f the tw diagrams belw in rder t successfully set up yur Tuning Adapter with yur InfiniTV: Optin One Wire the tuning adapter as shwn in the diagram abve. Attach a standard RG-6 cax cable t yur Tuning Adapter RF-In, then string the ther RG-6 cax cable frm the RF-Out t the InfiniTV. Cnnect the Tuning Adapter t any USB prt n yur PC with a standard USB cable, and plug the Tuning Adapter int a pwer utlet. Optin Tw Wire the tuning adapter as shwn in the diagram abve. Attach a standard RG-6 cax cable frm the utput f the splitter t the Tuning Adapter RF-In, then string the ther RG-6 cax cable t the InfiniTV 4. Cnnect the Tuning Adapter t any USB prt n yur PC with a standard USB cable, and plug the Tuning Adapter int a pwer utlet. 3. Dwnlad and run the Cetn InfiniTV 4 Windws Installer Sftware 1. The Cetn Windws Installer will install the Cetn InfiniTV drivers, the SDV Tuning Adapter driver, the SDV hst sftware, and the Cetn Diagnstic Tl n yur PC. If prmpted, install the Visual C++ Runtime Libraries as well. Ntes: The Netwrk Tuners Wizard is nt set t install by default. Yu d nt need t install the Netwrk Tuners Wizard unless yu plan t share tuners with ther cmputers n yur netwrk. Fr mre infrmatin, check ut the Netwrk Tuners guide n ur website: http://cetncrp.cm/infinitv_supprt/ 2. When cmplete, clse all Installer windws and restart yur PC. Ntes: i. In rder t receive cable TV vide streams, certain netwrk prts must be setup crrectly fr UDP and TCP Internet Prtcls. Micrsft s Windws Firewall sets these up autmatically. If yu use a third party firewall r antivirus prgram like Nrtn r McAfee, these prgrams may prevent the InfiniTV 4 frm receiving digital cable TV vide data crrectly n yur PC. Yu may need t disable these prgrams in rder t receive digital cable TV. Yu can als manually set up the netwrk prts frm the fllwing infrmatin: Nn-Windws firewall users need t pen the fllwing prts; Name UDP/TCP Prt Range In/Out RTP UDP 5001-5016 IN SSDP UDP 1900 IN/OUT RTSP TCP 554 OUT UPnP TCP 2869 IN/OUT WMDRM UDP 5757-5772 OUT ii. If yur PC is n a lcal area netwrk which uses a Prxy Server, this server may prevent the InfiniTV 4 frm receiving digital cable TV data. Please cntact yur Prxy Server supprt persn t setup the Prxy Server t allw the InfiniTV 4 t receive digital cable TV vide data. iii. MCA adapter users may require a lw pass filter t prevent interference with TV receptin n sme channels. FIOS custmers shuld request a lw pass filter at the time f installatin. 4. Run Digital Cable Advisr Yu must run Micrsft s Digital Cable Advisr (DCA) frm the Extras Gallery in Windws Media Center. This applicatin checks yur cmputer t ensure it has adequate resurces t supprt digital cable TV services and sets up Windws t allw viewing cpy-prtected cable TV cntent using Windws Media Center and a CableCARD-based digital cable tuner like the Cetn InfiniTV 4. The Cetn Installer yu ran in step 3 abve initiates the dwnlad f the Extras Gallery autmatically. The Extras Gallery icn shuld appear in Extras as shwn belw. Start Windws Media Center frm the Windws Start Menu r the green buttn n yur Media Center PC remte. Nte: It is recmmended t run the Digital Cable Advisr in a reduced size windw (nt maximized) in rder t view all system prmpts mre easily. If this is yur first time running Windws Media Center yu will be requested t cmplete a quick Media Center setup prcess at this pint. If asked, d nt set up the TV tuners until after the Digital Cable Advisr has been cmpleted. Navigate t Extras / Extras Gallery. If yu dn t see the Extras Gallery icn it is prbably still dwnlading frm step 3 abve. Wait a few minutes and check back, r manually dwnlad frm the links abve. Click n the picture f the COAX cable t run the Digital Cable Advisr. Click Install t dwnlad the Digital Cable Advisr and Cnfirm yu want t dwnlad the file. If yu accepted the End User License Agreement, the Digital Cable Advisr will install, which can take a cuple f minutes. Click Next n the Welcme t the Digital Cable Advisr screen. Select I Agree and click Next n the Digital Cable Advisr Terms f Service screen. Click Start Test n the Welcme t the Digital Cable Advisr / Analyze System screen. The Digital Cable Advisr will begin testing yur system which can take several minutes t cmplete. Yur screen may flash several times as a nrmal part f the test. Click Next n the Welcme t the Digital Cable Advisr / Analyze System screen nce it says System analysis cmplete. 7 Cetn InfiniTV 4 Installatin Instructins
If the cmputer system meets the minimum system requirements t supprt digital cable TV yu will be prmpted t click Update System Settings. Be sure t allw the prgram t make mdificatins t yur system frm the pp-up windw. (The pp-up may be flashing n yur tl bar at the bttm f yur screen). Click Dne when yu see the Cngratulatins! Screen. Nte: If yur cmputer fails the Digital Cable Advisr test then it des nt meet the minimum system requirements needed fr supprting digital cable TV n the PC and it will nt be able t use any digital cable tuner including the Cetn InfiniTV 4. 5. Setup Windws Media Center fr Cable TV G t Tasks / Settings / TV / TV Signal / Set Up TV Signal. 8 Cetn InfiniTV 4 Installatin Instructins
1. Run thrugh the standard Media Center TV signal set-up prcess, which will take several minutes. Select yur Regin: e.g. United States. Enter yur zip cde. Click I agree if yu agree with the Prgram Guide Terms & Cnditins. Read the PlayReady PC Runtime End User License Agreement and chse t Accept r Decline. If yu accepted the End User License Agreement, PlayReady will be installed. Nte: Be sure yur system s date and time are set crrectly. An errr will ccur when installing PlayReady, which will prevent cable TV frm being viewed, if the date and apprximate time in the PC are nt crrect. Media Center will nw Dwnlad TV Setup Data and detect the TV signal. Select Yes, cnfigure TV with these results. During the cnfiguratin prcess, Media Center will ask fr a prduct key, which will be pre-filled n the screen. This is a different prduct key than yur Windws 7 prduct key and is autmatically generated by running the Digital Cable Advisr in step abve. Just click Next when the prduct key cnfiguratin is cmplete. 2. Activate yur CableCARD. If yur cable peratr sent a technician t yur hme t install the CableCARD then the technician will assist yu in perfrming this step. If yu are installing the CableCARD yurself, click Next n the Activate Yur CableCARD screens. Call yur cable peratr when prmpted (a phne number may appear n the screen) and tell them yu need t pair and activate a CableCARD with the Cetn InfiniTV 4 OCUR digital cable tuner in yur PC. Yur cable peratr will walk yu thrugh the prcess f pairing and authenticating the CableCARD with yur lcal cable system. Cetn includes a Diagnstic Tl which prvides infrmatin abut the Cable CARD paring prcess. It can be fund by ging t Start / All Prgrams / Cetn InfiniTV / Cetn InfiniTV Diagnstic. Once the Diagnstic Tl is pen, select the CableCARD tab t view the screen shwn belw: Make sure all f the CableCARD Setup Steps listed are fllwed by a green check. If ne r mre steps are fllwed by a red minus sign, the Diagnstic Tl will prvide infrmatin n hw t reslve the CableCARD issue. 11 Cetn InfiniTV 4 Installatin Instructins
Once the CableCARD activatin is cmplete by yur cable peratr, Select Next t dwnlad the prgram guide data fr yur cable TV system. Nte: Cable TV channel infrmatin is nt dwnladed until after the CableCARD has been activated. TV Channels will nt play back r be displayed prperly in the guide until this infrmatin has been received, which typically takes abut five minutes. Yu may be presented with several chices fr guide data. Pick the chice which mst clsely matches the TV viewing situatin fr yur area. If set up prperly, the channels in Media Center shuld crrespnd crrectly with thse being bradcast as they wuld appear n a regular cable bx. If the channels dn t match up crrectly, g back thrugh Media Center setup again and make anther chice. If the CableCARD has already been activated, just click next n these screens. Repeat this until the channels in Media Center match crrectly with thse being bradcast. 3. When yu ve clicked Finished yur InfiniTV 4 tuners will be set up and cnfigured. 6. Cetn Supprt and InfiniTV Diagnstic Tls Cetn maintains a supprt ticket system fr custmers t btain technical supprt fr InfiniTV prducts. Access t the supprt system can be fund by ging t http://cetncrp.cm/infinitv_supprt/ and clicking n Submit a Supprt Ticket n the right. If yu have a questin r require technical supprt, simply pen a supprt ticket and Cetn Technical Supprt persnnel will respnd with assistance. The Cetn InfiniTV Diagnstic Tl als prvides infrmatin abut system health, and the firmware, driver, and installer versins. Frm time t time Cetn will release new firmware, drivers and installer revisins t imprve perfrmance r add new features. The InfiniTV tab n the Diagnstic Tl will indicate yur current revisins and if there is a newer versin f the firmware, driver r installer available. Firmware, drivers and/r the installer can be updated autmatically by clicking n the link which indicates when a newer versin is available. The Cetn Diagnstic Tl can cllect diagnstic infrmatin abut yur specific InfiniTV system and PC t help Cetn technicians analyze yur system s behavir. G t the Diagnse tab and enter infrmatin abut an issue. Next hit the Cllect Infrmatin buttn. The Diagnstic Tl will autmatically generate a file cntaining infrmatin abut the health and peratin f yur system. This file can be attached t a supprt ticket s Cetn technicians can use the infrmatin t help reslve prblems. Nte: Each time yur PC is turned ff and turned back n again, Windws Media Center must re-establish cmmunicatin with the Cetn InfiniTV 4. This prcess, which takes abut a minute, begins when yu g t Live TV the first time after pwer up. During this perid, Media Center displays the fllwing screen: When cmmunicatin has been established, live TV will begin nrmally withut any further actin.
