1 Web based Learning Platfrm Instructins 1.0 HOW TO ACCESS THE WEB BASED LEARNING PLATFORM In rder t access the sftware prgrams (e.g., ERDAS, ArcMap) needed t cmplete the lab assignments, yu will need t dwnlad a prgram called Citrix Receiver which will allw access t the nline platfrm. Please read and fllw the instructins belw carefully. Supprted brwser: Ggle Chrme 1.1 Install Citrix Receiver 1. Fr first time users, yu will need t dwnlad a prgram called Citrix Receiver (users wh have already installed the prgram can prceed t step 2). T dwnlad the prgram, g t: and click n the apprpriate perating system fr yur cmputer and dwnlad the file t a knwn lcatin (may take minutes) Once cmpleted, lcate the file and duble click t start the installatin When prmpted if yu want t allw the prgram t make changes/allw access t yur cmputer, click Yes, then Install If yur cmputer asks if yu want t allw the Citrix Receiver prgram t make changes t yur cmputer, select Yes Click Next when the Citrix Receiver Setup dialg bx appears

3 Web based Learning Platfrm Instructins Fr Mac users, select Cancel when yu see the dialg bx belw 2. Next g t: xenweb.utm.utrnt.ca and lg in with yur UTORid and passwrd 3. If yu receive the Install Client message bx (belw), click n Skip t Lg n beside the Security Details buttn

4 Web based Learning Platfrm Instructins 1.2 Cnfirm Installatin If the prgram has installed successfully, yu shuld nw see this icn fund n the bttm right f yur screen n a Windws platfrm) Click n the prgram yu need t pen (e.g., ArcMap r ERDAS) in yur taskbar (the taskbar is A windw will appear asking yu t save a prgram with the file name launch.ica. Save t a knwn lcatin, then duble click n the file and select Permit Use when the Security warning appears The prgram shuld nw appear. If it des nt, and yu have fllwed all f the abve instructins crrectly, please cntact Bruce Huang fr technical supprt

5 Web based Learning Platfrm Instructins If it des appear, then yu have successfully installed the Citrix Receiver and nw have access t the prgrams needed t cmplete yur curse assignments 1.3 Sme Imprtant Pints At the end f every sessin, please return t xenweb.utm.utrnt.ca and lg ff Fr every new nline sessin that yu want t initiate, yu will need t g xenweb.utm.utrnt.ca and lg in each time (and lg ff nce finished) Yu nly need t install the Citrix Receiver nce (per device). When lgging in fr a subsequent sessin, select Already installed if the website asks yu t install the Citrix Receiver and yu have already dne s. The Citrix Receiver will autmatically terminate yur sessin after a prlnged perid f inactivity this is t help maintain the speed f the cnnectin fr active users Therefre, always lg ff when taking breaks and as sn as yu have finished yur wrk And save yur wrk regularly 1.4 Remte Supprt Technical supprt is prvided by IT/GIS Specialist Bruce Huang. Please cntact Bruce if yu are having technical difficulties related t installing the Citrix Receiver sftware, accessing the nline platfrm r the gespatial sftware. Depending n yur prblem, yu may be redirected t Cmputer Services. Please ensure yu have read and fllwed the instructins carefully befre requesting assistance. These numbers are generated randmly, and will change each time yu jin/initiate a remte cntrl sessin Yu will need t send these numbers t Bruce Huang either by phne r The TeamViewer sftware will allw remte cntrl f yur cmputer by a third party (i.e. Bruce). Clse all yur persnal files and flders befre beginning the sessin (third party will be able t view yur desktp) N persnal data will be accessed during the remte sessin
