1 Sftware Distributin Quantrax has autmated many f the prcesses invlved in distributing new cde t clients. This will greatly reduce the time taken t get fixes laded nt clients systems. The new prcedures cver fixes t RMEx, new releases and new dcumentatin and will be expanded shrtly t include dialer sftware and ther Quantrax prducts. The new prcesses invlve Quantrax staff lading new cde r dcumentatin nt ur new FTP sftware distributin site and clients retrieving bjects frm that site. Clients will require a user-id and passwrd t gain access t the site and these will be sent ut via . All clients will have access t a cmmn r public flder cntaining cmmn bjects such as new releases and fixes t the base cde. Each client will als have exclusive access t a separate directry cntaining cde that is specific t that client. NOTE: Only dwnlad cde when directed t by Quantrax. If yu feel yu need a PTF that appears n the Quantrax FTP sftware distributin site cntact us befre dwnlading it. This prcedure explains hw t lad and implement a cmplete new release. T make the prcess mre efficient, mst f the cmmands belw can be cpied and pasted. Step 1 Retrieve the SXRMXMOD PTF frm the FTP Site This special PTF is required in rder t be able t lad a cmplete release using the FTP Sftware Distributin site. Clients can sign n t the FTP Sftware Distributin site frm a PC in their ffice and dwnlad bjects t their PC. Any bject can be dwnladed, prvided the client has apprpriate access. Quantrax recmmends using Cre FTP Lite t perfrm dwnlads. This sftware is available free frm the internet, and Quantrax will prvide supprt fr users wh use this ptin. 1. Create a flder n yur hard drive called QuantraxSftware If using Cre FTP Lite, set up Quantrax as a new site. The Hst IP address is Use the default settings fr all ther fields. If yu are nt using Cre FTP Lite, start up Internet Explrer and bring up the fllwing website: ftp:// /public/rmex Yu will be prmpted t lg n. 3. Enter yur user-id and passwrd. 4. Dwnlad the PTF SXRMXMOD.SXRMXMOD t the QuantraxSftware flder If using Cre FTP Lite - On the left side f the windw yu will see yur PC directries/flders and n the right side f the windw yu will see the Quantrax FTP directries. Click n the QuantraxSftware flder n the left Click n the PTF labeled SXRMXMOD.SXRMXMOD n the right Click n the left dwnlad arrw in the tp crner f the FTP windw. This will cpy the SXRMXMOD.SXRMXMOD t the the QuantraxSftware directry that was created n the PC yu are using. The file name n yur PC will be the same file name as the FTP directry. 2 Step 2 Lading the SXRMXMOD PTF t RMEx Once yu have dwnladed the SXRMXMOD.SXRMXMOD PTF t yur PC, yu must lad it int yur RMEx prgram library n yur System i5. On yur PC, enter the fllwing cmmands t cpy the dwnladed files t yur iseries: 1. Cpy SXRMXMOD.SXRMXMOD t yur I-Series Click n Start Click n RUN When the bx appears with cmd in it press enter Key in Start FTP and the IP address f yur iseries and press enter (ex. Start ftp ) Key in yur iseries user-id and press enter Key in yur iseries passwrd and press enter Key in the wrd binary and press enter Key in the fllwing t transfer the SXRMXMOD PTF t yur SCMOD library PUT C:\QuantraxSftware\SXRMXMOD.SXRMXMOD SCMOD/@@RCV.@@RCV and press enter. **T verify the PTF cpied successfully, enter the fllwing n an AS400 cmmand line (ne at a time), hit enter and check that the bjects are there: WRKOBJ OBJ(SCMOD/INSTALLNEF) and WRKOBJ OBJ(SCMOD/INSTALLFIF) If either f these bjects d nt exist, YOU MUST START OVER with step 1. This is usually caused by failing t enter the wrd binary in step 1 and 2 instructins. Once the PTF has been upladed using the steps abve, it will be cpied autmatically t yur prductin system. The smart cde prgram that runs whenever the system is active checks these files peridically and mves the new cde int the apprpriate library. Step 3 Retrieve New Release frm the Quantrax FTP Site DO NOT DO ANY STEPS HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW UNLESS INSTRUCTED SPECIFICALLY BY QUANTRAX TO DO SO: 1. The file name n yur PC will be the same file name as the FTP directry Step 4 Lading a New Release f RMEx Clients will run this step t uplad an entire release frm their PC t their iseries. Clients will need t lad a new release f RMEx nly nce every few mnths. This step cpies the data frm yur PC nt the iseries: it des NOT put the new cde int prductin. The new cde is placed first int a save file library called SCINSTALL, and then restred int temprary libraries that will be used later in the upgrade prcess. 1. Sign n t yur iseries and create the fllwing library and files: CRTLIB SCINSTALL CRTSAVF SCINSTALL/SAVFRMXB CRTSAVF SCINSTALL/SAVFRMXF 2. Clear the fllwing files: CLRSAVF SCINSTALL/SAVFRMXB CLRSAVF SCINSTALL/SAVFRMXF 3. Cpy the release files t yur I-Series Click n Start Click n RUN When the bx appears with cmd in it press enter Key in Start FTP and the IP address f yur iseries and press enter (ex. 4 and press enter **T verify the New Release cpied successfully, enter the fllwing n an AS400 cmmand line (ne at a time), hit enter and check that the files are there: DSPSAVF FILE(SCINSTALL/SAVFRMXB) and DSPSAVF FILE(SCINSTALL/SAVFRMXF) If yu d nt see a list f files within each f the abve cmmands, YOU MUST START OVER with step 3. This is usually caused by failing t enter the wrd binary in step 4 instructins Step 5 Implementing a New Release f RMEx Clients will undertake this step when they are ready t put the latest versin f RMEx int prductin. All previus steps d nt change the prductin system and can be run at any time. Step 5 Implementing a New Release f RMEx needs t be scheduled. Please nte that n users will be able t sign n t the system during this prcess. Ntify Quantrax at f yur plan t upgrade and schedule supprt fr the time f the upgrade and the first few hurs f prductin n the new release. Pre-Implementatin 1. Yu MUST use the prper call cmmand belw, under the sectin titled Implementatin - #9, based n the current Intelec r RMEx sftware versin yu are n in rder t upgrade t versin RMEx2.0. If yu d NOT see a call cmmand fr yur current versin yu MUST cntact Quantrax befre prceeding with the upgrade. The current release is displayed n the Main menu when yu sign int RMEx. 2. Clients can install this update as lng as n users are n the system. Yu can install the update at any time - at the end f a day (befre nightly prcessing) r at the beginning f a day (after nightly prcessing has cmpleted). Yu MUST have a backup frm the last nightly prcessing that was run r take a separate back up f yur data library if yu are running this at the end f a day. The cmplete install shuld take an hur r less if yu are ging frm a recent versin f Intelec, but will vary depending n yur data vlumes and prcessr. 3. We recmmend that yu run the install at the end f a day and allw time t run nightly prcessing AFTER the install. Even thugh it is nt necessary if yu are n a mre recent versin f RMEX, it is best that yu run a Nightly AFTER the install. If time is a limiting factr, yu shuld create accunt prcessing queues after the install (Yu can use the ptin n the Utilities menu - UT at any menu, then, ptin 6). 4. 5 Implementatin 1. Ensure yu have a backup f yur data libraries. 2. Ensure that all users are signed ff f RMEx. 3. Cancel the Smart Cde prcessing prgram. 4. If yu are using I-Tel, end the dialer server. If yu have a dialer ther than Intelec, cancel thse prgrams. 5. Sign ff RMEx and then sign n again using the User ID QSECOFR. D nt attempt t sign n with an RMEx User ID. At this stage, d nt allw users t sign n. The rest f the installatin prcess takes abut an hur. We will be creating sme new lgical files ver the accunt and payment files. 6. Enter the fllwing cmmands frm a cmmand line: ADDLIBLE SCLIB ADDLIBLE SCMOD CALL INSTALLNEF Fllw the instructins n the screen. The device name shuld be *SAVF. This ptin will take abut 5-10 minutes. At ne pint in the installatin, the system will check that the library SCLIB is nt in use and if it is, it will display any jbs that will need t be cancelled. At the end f this step, yu will be asked t make sure all users have signed ff the system. 7. Sign ff RMEx and then sign n again using the User ID QSECOFR. D nt attempt t sign n with an RMEx User ID. Enter the fllwing cmmands frm a cmmand line: ADDLIBLE SCLIB ADDLIBLE SCMOD CALL INSTALLFIF This step will take a few minutes. 8. Sign ff RMEx and then sign n again using the User ID QSECOFR. D nt attempt t sign n with an RMEx User ID. Enter the fllwing cmmands frm a cmmand line: ADDLIBLE SCLIB ADDLIBLE SCFIX ADDLIBLE SCMOD 9. Implementing the upgrade Chse the call cmmand belw based n yur current versin f sftware. Yu will ONLY run 1 f the belw cmmands: If yu re current sftware versin is lder than RMEx 1.0, yu MUST Cntact Quantrax If yu re current sftware versin is RMEx 1.0 r RMEx 1.2: Key in CALL INSTALRMX1 and press ENTER If yu re current sftware versin is RMEx 2.0 r Higher: Key in CALL INSTALR2.2 and press ENTER Cpyright 2010 Quantrax Crpratin, Inc. 6 10. Fllw the instructins n the screen. The release implementatin jb is submitted and will run in batch. This step culd run fr ver an hur, depending n yur data vlumes and prcessr. 11. Check that the install prgram is running by using WRKACTJOB. Once the jb has started, yu shuld wait abut 5 minutes and can leave if there are n messages. 12. This time taken fr this step will depend n the amunt f data n yur system, and yur prcessr speed. An estimate f the time t upgrade is 30 minutes. 13. When this step is ver, the installatin f the new release is cmplete. Yu shuld check the jb t make sure it has cmpleted (WRKMSG QSECOFR) and use the WRKACTJOB cmmand t make sure there are n messages. 14. The cmpletin message "'RMEx Release 2.2 has been installed" will be sent t INTELOPR when the implementatin prcess is cmplete. Make sure the crrect versin has been installed. Pst-Implementatin 1. After Step 14 has cmpleted, yu shuld run nightly prcessing if yu installed the cde at the end f the day. Otherwise, cntinue with yur regular wrk. 2.
