This guide line General This guide bk is useful fr bth beginners and mre experienced users if the Sprtident system. Our ambitin is that tgether with the nline help infrmatin in the sftware it will be easy t use Sprtident. Knwledge Yu shuld knw hw t use a PC and Windws t be able t understand this guide line. Mre infrmatin On ur site www.sprtident.se yu will find mre infrmatin abut the system. System requirements The sftware SI-Cnfig is mainly used fr the new generatin f statins (BSx7-8). It is recmmended t use SI-Manager instead if yu are using lder statins (BSx3-6) The peratin system must be Windws 2000 r Windws XP. A minimum reslutin f SVGA (800x600) is recmmended. - 3 -
What is the Sprtident system? The Sprtident system is a timing system that frm the beginning was made fr Orienteering. Since the system is highly flexible and rbust it wrks fine fr ther sprts and applicatins as well. The new generatin statins are small, with light weight and water-resistant. They are always n, and therefre they are perfect fr utdr activities. Example f activities: cntrl f presents, the ther end f the running track recrd the time at different split times recrds start and finish time read ut data /result directly t PC r t a battery driven thermal printer send data wireless t ther lcatins t prvide nline split times Example f activities where it is used tday: rienteering, ski-rienteering, car-rieentering multisprt extrem marathn running relays hrse driving triathln running fx hunting sprts in schl (special sftware is available) physical training in sprts clubs (special sftware is available) - 4 -
Basic cnfiguratin f the system This cnfiguratin is recmmended t start with the first time yu use the system. This gives yu Start and Finish and a number f split times. Yu can chse t get the result t the PC via a Master statin r n a paper using the Thermal printer. The cmpetitr have gt a finger chip n his finger, we call this the SI-card. Every time the runner punch with his SI-card the time and the lcatin (number and peratin mde f the statin) is stred in the SI-card. Explanatin t the picture Type Clear (Töm) SI-Master and Start 31,32,33 Finish (Mål) Master statin Thermal printer Operating mde Clear the SI-card befre the activity frm ld data. Bth time syncrnisatin f all statins and then used fr start punch. Checkpints r split times with different numbers Finish punsch, t recrd the finish time T be able t read the data in the SI-card t the PC and t change the number and peratin mde in the SI-statins. Prints the result withut and PC. The result is always finish time start time - 5 -
SI-card The SI-card cnsists f a RFID-chip, a plastic finger and an elastic band. The chip is shck and water resistant and have a very lng life time. Via radi waves the chip gets pwer using inductin, then it is pssible t read and right t the chip. The data transmissin is very safe since n physical cntact is needed between the SI-card and th SI-statin. Neither water, snw, is r dirt can stp the transmissin. As sn as the SI-card is inserted int the hle f the SI-statin the number and time in the statin is written int the SI-card. This is called t punsch. SI-statin BSF7 and BSF8 There is tw different SI-statins available, BSF7 and BSF8. The difference between these are the size. BSF7 has gt a dulbe sized battery as BSF8 and is mre than duble in size. Otherwise they are indentical. SI-statin: is a RFID reader/writer that can read/write all types f SI-cards. Is pwered by a lithium battery with many Years f lifetime. Can be prgrammed with numbers between 1 and 1023. Imprtant! Mst f the PC-sftware fr rienteering and the SI-card 5can nly read numbers between 31-255. Have gt a real time clck that is autmatically syncrnized using the SI-Master r the PC. Are autmatically activated when punching Turns int sleep mde (pwer saving mde) when it is nt used. Time, perating mde, battery etc. is shwn n the display. Read mre abut the SI-statin n http://www.sprtident.se/english/basenheter.aspx Master statin BSM7 and BSM7-USB The Master statinen is actually a SI-statin with RS232 r USB cnnectin. This is used mainly fr: Changing the number and perating mde in the SI-statin Reading the data in the SI-card t PC sftware. Reading the data in the SI-card and autmatically via autsend transmit the infrmatin t a transmitter fr nline results. - 6 -
Besides this the Master statin has the same perating mde as the SI-statins. Special statins Except the SI-statin and the Master statin there are sme special statins available: Printer statin, BS7-P. Read-ut statin that is cnnected t a battery driven Thermal printer. BSP7 has its wn drivers fr the printer and calculates the result itself. Sprinter statin, BS7-S. Special statin with input fr trigger (phtcell). Can be cnnected t phtcell and id f the SI-card is autmatically assigned t the time. SI-Master, statin similar t BSF8, that als have the perating mde t synchrnize the clck in all statins with its wn clck. - 7 -
Sftware SI-cnfig - installatin The sftware SI-cnfig is used t change the perating mde and/r the number in the SI-statins. The sftware is packet in a zip file. It is free t use. Dwnlad it here under Sftware: http://www.sprtident.se/english/basenheter.aspx 1) Unzip and run SI-cnfigsetup.exe. Fllw the instructins given. Chse the crrect serial prt (COM) The sftware detects autmatically the installed serial prts. If yu are using a Master statin with USB r an adapter between USB and serial prt cnnect this befre yu execute the sftware. The USB Master als requires a special driver (http://www.sprtident.se/english/order.aspx?id=110 ) (BSM7 USB driver, http://www.sprtident.se/english/getfile.aspx?id=209 ) The statin can use bth 4800 and 38400 bits per secnd. Start SI-Cnfig Prgram settings / Serial Prt Chse the right prt in the list. Chse cm prt speed. Imprtant! If the Master statin shuld be used as nline statin perhaps it must have the speed 4800 t wrk with sme sw. Press OK. If the prt is nt k yu will get a message. Check the cnnectin by selecting prgram settings / direct and press Read. Each time yu read r write the bar shuld mve dwn t indicate the prcess. Change read/write speed If the statin shuld be used as an nline cntrl perhaps it must use the speed 4800. Check the instructins fr the sftware used. T change the speed, d like this: Cnnect the Master statin t the PC Chse cmmands / set xxx Bits per secnd Check which speed is used - 8 -
Hw t change number and perating mde in the statin T be able t change the perating mde and number in the SI-statin is has t be prgrammed using SI-cnfig and a Master statin. A cupling stick makes the cnnectin better between the Master statin and the SI-statin. First cnnect the Master statin t the PC. Prgram BSF7 Nte! If the Master statin is absm7-usb a special driver has t be installed first. During the prgramming phase the BSF7 statin shuld be placed upside dwn n tp f the Master statin with the inductive stick thrugh the bth hles. After making the right settings, press Write Prgram BSF8 Use a smaller cupling stick fr the BSF8 statins. Put the statin (bth BSF7 and BSF8) in service mde t make the pwer field strnger and make it easier t prgram the statin. This is dne by punching ne time with the lilac OFF card the display is ff. SERVICE will shrtly be shwn in the display. The BSF8 statin shuld be placed as shwn in the picture n tp f the statin with the stick thrugh bth hles. When the crrect settings are dne, press Write. - 9 -
