5 Chapter 1. General Abut this dcument Installing the sftware This dcument cntains instructins n using Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin. Mduc Elements MagiCAD plug-in makes adding and designing Mduc elements easy and fast. Required third-party sftware Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin wrks with the fllwing MagiCAD fr AutCAD versins MagiCAD AutCAD r MagiCAD and AutCAD Installatin 1. Dwnlad setup file frm ryid=3 2. Install Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin. Administratr privileges are recmmended fr installatin. Nte if yu have several AutCAD versins n yur wrkstatin: Befre yu run the installatin prgram, start MagiCAD t make sure that Mduc ElementsMagiCAD Plugin installs n the same AutCAD platfrm as MagiCAD. 6 Starting the prgram Befre yu start using Mduc Elements MagiCAD Plugin, start MagiCAD and pen a Heating and piping prject. Run CUILOAD (r MENULOAD) in AutCAD, and brwse the custmizatin file frm the directry where yu installed the prgram Directry fr cui/cuix-file is by default fr XP: C:\Dcuments and Settings\All Users\Applicatin Data\ Mduc Elements Win7: C:\Users\All Users\Mduc Elements r C:\PrgramData\ Mduc Elements Win8/Win8.1: C:\PrgramData\Mduc Elements When yu first time start using Mduc Elements MagiCAD Plugin, yu need t lad the custmizatin file (MducMagi.cuix) manually if yu are using AutCAD 2012 r lder versin. AutCAD 2013 r newer versin tlbar and ribbn will be laded autmatically. When yu click Lad, Mduc Elements tlbar appears n the desktp. 2 Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin

8 Chapter 2. Functins Mduc Elements UI Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin cntains fllwing functins: - default settings - crner in element - crner ut element - vertical element - hrizntal element - edit element - exprt bill f materials It is recmmended t start with default settings dialg. In Default settings dialg user can define elements width and depth as well as ther selectins. Designer des nt necessarily need t change any values in element type specific dialg, except nly in special ccasin. See typical wrkflw example at the end f the dcument. 4 Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin

9 Default settings Fllwing fields shuld be filled in default settings dialg. After all settings have been defined, press Apply t save default settings. These settings are aut laded as default values fr element specific dialgs such as Crner In element dialg. MagiCAD System : set system fr Mduc elements Rm height(m) : plugin reads the value frm MagiCAD prject and it cannt be changed. This value is used as installatin height fr the elements. Electricity : Insert needed width fr electricity cabels and select insulatin type, if needed. Electricity selectin is taken int cnsideratin in bill f materials(bom)-list, but d nt effect t elements dimensins. Crner, Hrizntal, cnnect element : input desired default width and depth fr elements. These dimensins are used by default when inserting new element t the drawing. User can always mdify special width r depth in element specific dialg if needed. Click aid-functins and if yu want t measure the required width r depth in magicad drawing. When clicking these buttns measure assistant cmmand is started and user can measure distance between tw pints in magicad drawing. This measured distance is autmatically filled t the crrespnding field in default settings dialg. Check rf installatin if is needed (pipes parallel near the ceiling). Rf installatin selectin is shwn in BOM, but it has n effect n the gemetry f the elements. Vertical element : Check cnnect element if vertical element is needed t cnnect t hrizntal element. Input desired default width and depth fr vertical element. Crner In element Rf installatin(pipes parallel near the ceiling) selectin is shwn in BOM, nt effect t element dimensins. Input width and depth dimensins fr element if default values are nt suitable. Click aid-functins and if yu need t measure space fr elements. Electricity : input needed width fr electricity cabels and select insulatin type, if needed. Electricity selectin is taken int cnsideratin in bill f materials(bom)-list, but d nt effect t elements dimensins. Height is autmatically set based n rm height and cnnect element depth. Click aid-functins and if yu need t measure space fr elements. Electricity selectin is taken int cnsideratin in bill f materials(bom)-list, but d nt effect t elements dimensins. Electrical device : elecrical device reservatin pssibility. Symbl is drawn als t element and taken int cnsideratin in bill f materials. Mduc will cntact t ask mre detailed infrmatin regarding the electrical device nce they receive the BOM. Add cnnect element: check cnnect element if yu want t cnnect hrizntal element with vertical element. Input width and depth dimensins fr element if default values were nt suitable. Click aid-functins and if yu need t measure dimensins fr elements. Rf installatin selectin is shwn in BOM, nt effect t element dimensins. 11 Hrizntal element Rf installatin selectin is shwn in BOM, nt effect t element dimensins. Electricity : insert needed width fr electricity cabels and select insulatin type, if needed. Electricity selectin is taken int cnsideratin in bill f materials(bom)-list, but d nt effect t elements dimensins. Electrical device : elecrical device reservatin pssibility. It is drawn als t element and taken int cnsideratin in bill f materials Select tw elements t be cnnected with hrizntal elements: When inserting hrizntal element user is asked first t select tw elements and then hrizntal elements is drawn between selected elements as lng as the tw elements have been aligned prperly. Free psitin and length: Draw freely hrizntal element. After the element is drawn, chse element frnt side(diagnal side) by clicking n that side f the line. Plug-in autmatically creates the hrizntal element with same size(width/depth) as selected elements. Plug-in als autmatically divides inserted element int 2450mm (=standard mduc element size) pieces if distance between selected elements is mre than 2450mm. Nte! if any values r settings are changed in this dialg, the values are nt saved t defaults settings dialg. Edit element Click buttn and select element. Current values f the element is filled t the dialg fields. Update needed values in fields and click Update-buttn. Nte! Element is updated when cursr is mved tp f the drawing. Exprt bill f materials Create bill f materials by clicking exprt bill f material -buttn in ribbn and select elements by nrmal autcad means. After that press enter t generate Excel-spread sheet that cntains BOM table fr Mduc Elements. Nte! Mduc elements are nt included t MagiCAD wn bill f materials Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin 7

12 Using Mduc Elements plugin 1. Start using plug-in by setting first default values fr elements. 2. Prceed by adding first crner and vertical elements t drawing. Nte that when clicking crner r vertical element buttn in ribbn/tlbar, insert peratin is autmatically started with the given default settings. If default settings are defined prperly user can right away insert element t the drawing. If mdificatins t the settings(size etc.) are needed user can make needed changes and then click insert buttn fund in activated Mduc tl palette windw. 8 Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin

13 Cnnect tw crner elements tgether by adding hrizntal element between them. Same way it is pssible t add hrizntal element between crner and cnnect element. When inserting hrizntal element user is asked t select tw elements and then hrizntal elements is drawn between selected elements as lng as the tw elements have been aligned prperly. Optinally user can chse Free psitining and length ptin frm the hrizntal element page. That will allw user t freely insert new Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin 9

14 hrizntal element. This ptin shuld be used when hrizntal element is nt inserted between tw elements. 3. Once element netwrk is finished in the drawing generate bill f materials list. 10 Mduc Elements MagiCAD plugin
