The Chicago Football Classic is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support academic achievement, promote post secondary education, encourage cultural excellence, and showcase the spirit, energy, and tradition of America s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In 1997, three African American businessmen Everett Rand, Tim Rand and Larry Huggins formed the Chicago Football Classic (CFC). The founders shared a simple, yet clear and powerful vision: to encourage African American youth to achieve their personal best in school and beyond by empowering them with the knowledge, tools, and resources essential to accomplishing life-long goals. Today, through the vehicle of an HBCU football game, the CFC s annual signature event at Soldier Field is the backdrop to realize our objectives through several initiatives: - the scholarship arm of the CFC is backed and generously supported by the business community with key partnerships from Sherman Dodge, Miller Coors, CFC fundraising, and civic and political endorsements. annually attracts over 3000 students to Soldier Field, kicking off game day events and generating hundreds of scholarships and admissions opportunities. - the CFC adopts a local school supporting and celebrating student achievements.
