In 1987, the 100 th House was built here in Savannah Georgia, now known as The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire. It is known as the House That Love Built... Please join us! Our Goal: A Home Away From Home About Wine Women & Shoes Wine Women & Shoes is the brainchild of Napa Valley vintner, Elaine Honig. While chatting with a girlfriend about the growing popularity of wine and food pairing events, they jokingly said, wine and shoe pairings would be a lot more fun! And they were right. WW&S events are now in 50 cities across the country, and they have raised more than $22,000,000 for women and children s causes. Wine Women & Shoes fundraisers create an opportunity for partnerships between charities, wineries, shoe and accessory retailers, corporate sponsors and women in the community. In addition to raising money, these events raise awareness for charities, increase sales for wineries and retail partners, and provide community outreach for corporate sponsors. www.winewomenandshoes.com/savannah About Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire When a child is hospitalized the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed. Savannah's Ronald McDonald House allows families to remain close to their children receiving treatment at area hospitals. In 2014, the Savannah RMH provided 4,000 family night stays. Our House has 13-bedrooms and operates on a waiting list most of the year. In addition to having a private bedroom and bathroom, families have amenities that include a kitchen, TV room/playroom, internet access, laundry facilities and an outdoor recreational area. Volunteer groups come to the House each night and provide a home cooked meal for our families. Most importantly, our families have 24-hour access to their children who are in the hospital. www.rmhccoastalempire.org
Our IMPACT VISION: The mission of the RMHC of the Coastal Empire is to create, find and support programs that directly enhance the health & well-being of children and families in the Coastal Empire region Our cornerstone program is the Ronald McDonald House that serves as a Home away from home for families with critically ill or injured children receiving treatment at area hospitals. Our other core programs include two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, a Haven in the hospital for families with children receiving treatment at Children's Hospital at Memorial and St. Joseph s/candler hospital and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile that provides underserved children with free dental examinations and preventive treatment.
