2 SHOCK TRAUMA AIR RESCUE SOCIETY(STARS) The Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) provides a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for critically ill and injured patients. STARS is a charitable, non-profit organization that provides service from bases in Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Regina, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. STARS has carried out more than 29,000 missions across western Canada since it was established in In Alberta, 79 percent of funding needs are met through fundraising efforts, private donations received from individuals, service groups, including businesses, and corporations. The remaining 21 percent of funding is through a collaborative affiliation agreement with Alberta Health Services. STARS has more than 450 active volunteers throughout the province who help with fundraising events, serve on boards and committees, and provide support to a variety of activities. The incredible ongoing support of the community helps us to continually enhance our innovative and leading-edge air medical program and service. STARS unique model of community, corporate and government support allows us to continue innovating excellence in patient care. The STARS Foundation is the fundraising arm for STARS. Funding is met through donations received from individuals, service groups, business and corporations, municipalities, and through collaborative agreements with provincial governments. For more information, please visit Gala Fundraiser Join us on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at the Chateau Lacombe Hotel in Edmonton, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Building Magic in the Air Gala in support of STARS. The anniversary event will include a sponsor reception, dinner, live entertainment, raffles and a live and silent auction. Gala History For the past 4 years the Building Magic in the Air Gala in support of STARS has been supported by the Alberta construction industry. Through this partnership over $956,000 has been raised! With those funds STARS was able to fund the following projects: 2011 proceeds were used for STARS operational costs 2012 proceeds were used to purchase a Sypder Crane 2013 proceeds were used to purchase specialized helicopter tools 2014 proceeds were used to purchase a pediatric simulator The support from gala sponsors, guests and donors unquestionably contributed to the overall success of the event and helps ensure STARS will be there well prepared and well equipped. Partnership The Building Magic in the Air Gala partnership between the construction industry and STARS was formed with a shared mission of education, safety and saving lives. The construction industry s support of STARS is important because of the role STARS provides to industry workers and all Albertans should they require emergency medical transport. All funds raised through the Building Magic in the Air Gala will go directly to helping STARS life-saving mission.

The 5th annual Building Magic in the Air Gala is your company s opportunity to give back to the community and to ensure that the construction industry workers and residents of Alberta continue to have access to quality medical attention when and where it s required. Each table holds a maximum of 10 people Donate towards the auction (live and silent) and/or the raffle Cash/Gift-in-kind Donations The Building Magic in the Air Gala is being held on Saturday, October 24th at the Chateau Lacombe Hotel in Edmonton. The gala will include a sponsor reception, cocktails, followed by a buffet dinner, silent and live auction, raffles and live entertainment.
