118 ISAM TO SQL MIGRATION IN SYSPRO This dcument is aimed at assisting yu in the migratin frm an ISAM data structure t an SQL database. This is nt a detailed technical dcument and assumes the reader has a gd knwledge f SYSPRO, SYSPRO services, Micrsft SQL and Windws administrative functins. There are sme preparatry setups that need t be examined and cnfigured BEFORE starting the migratin. Pre-requisites Knw if yu are using a 3 tier r 2 tier envirnment? Make sure yu knw the SQL Administratr passwrd (sa user) and the Netwrk Administratr passwrd. Make nte f the default Cllatin n the SQL server. Determine the methd f Authenticatin fr SQL. It will be either SQL r Windws Authenticatin. Add a SQL/Windws user t the SQL Security. The user must have the ability t read, write and delete infrmatin in the database. The user must als be added t the SQL server authenticatin sectin f the Operatr Maintenance in SYSPRO. (Multiple users can be created in SQL and SYSPRO if yu want each user t have their wn lgin t SQL if s desired) Nte: If yu are using Windws Authenticatin, the SQL server authenticatin infrmatin in the SYSPRO Operatr Maintenance is ignred. Attach a Lg n as user t the SYSPRO Services. (a must fr 3 tier) This user must be a user accunt in the Dmain. This user must have rights t bth the SQL and SYSPRO applicatin servers. A flder must be created and shared n the SQL server. The SYSPRO services and the SQL services must be able t access this share. Order a new SQL registratin number fr yur cmpany(ies) and have it in yur pssessin. Make sure the Datasurce fr SQL is installed n the SYSPRO applicatin server (installed frm the SYSPRO installatin cd). Define the SYSPRO System Setup > Database tab. SQL Server must be selected in the Database infrmatin sectin. The methd f Authenticatin must be defined in the Database cnnectin infrmatin sectin. Check that the infrmatin in the Database cnfiguratin sectin is crrect. Stp all SYSPRO Services befre starting the migratin wizard. ISAM t SQL Migratin Wizard SYSPRO is installed with an SQL Migratin Wizard which will guide yu thrugh the cnversin frm ISAM t SQL. 1. It is best t run the wizard directly n the SYSPRO applicatin server. S, create an icn n the servers desktp (if it des nt already exist) that pints t the IMPACT.exe file lcated in the base flder f SYSPRO. 2. Launch SYSPRO and lgin as the ADMIN user (r a user that has ADMIN grup rights). 3. G t Setup > Cmpany Setup and highlight the cmpany yu wish t migrate and select the Change buttn. 4. Click n the Database and Data Paths tab. Click n the Migrate t SQL Server buttn t start the prcess. 5. A Windws will appear stating that it will save any changes befre prceeding. Click OK 6. 7. The wizard will nw try t use the Datasurce t cnnect t the SQL server. Click Next. 8. Select the methd f Authenticatin yu chse in the pre-requisites. Click Next t cnnect. 9. 10. The wizard will ask if it shuld create the database r let yu create it. If yur SQL servers default cllatin is Binary r Case Sensitive (Binary is preferred), select the ptin t let the wizard create the database. If yur SQL servers default cllatin is Case Insensitive, yu must select the ptin t create the database in SQL manually and chse a Binary r Case Sensitive cllatin (srt rder). After creating the database cme back t this prgram and type in the database name yu created. (the database name is case-sensitive). Click Next 11. The wizard will nw ask t create the tables fr SQL. There are 3 chices. I require the wizard t create the SYSPRO tables fr me Use this ptin if yu want the wizard t create all the tables fr yu. I will issue the statements myself frm the Query analyzer Use this ptin t create an SQL script that yu will run in Query Analyzer t create the tables I have already created the tables and wish t cntinue Use this ptin after creating all the tables. 13. The Bulk Cpy screen will appear. Temprary directry - Ensure that the flder exist and that bth the SYSPRO services and the SQL services have rights. If SYSPRO is installed in a 3-tier envirnment, this must be pinting t a shared flder that was created n the SQL servers lcal drive. It shuld be entered using a UNC path (Example: \\SQL-SERVER\SHARENAME. where SQL-SERVER is the name f the SQL server and sharename is the name f the shared flder n the SQL server. Bth the SYSPRO services and the SQL services must be granted read, write and delete access t this share Change Cde Page Used fr advanced SQL database users wh want t change the Cde Page number frm the standard Restart bulk cpy used if the bulk prcess fails and want t start back at the same place where it left ff after crrecting the errr. Skip Bulk Cpy use this ptin if yu d nt need t g thrugh the Bulk Cpy prcess again. After making selectins click n Start Bulk Cpy. The wizard will recnfirm that yu wish t start the bulk cpy prcess. Secnd stage is exprting the ISAM file t a BCP frmat and imprting it t SQL After the bulk cpy prcess is finished. Click OK. 14. A Screen will display the new database name. 15. The last screen in the wizard allws let peratrs back int SYSPRO and test the current lgin fr SQL access. (during the migratin the wizard disallwed users frm lgging in). Put a check mark in the Allw Operatrs t lgin t this cmpany. Click n the Test Current Lgin buttn. This will test the lgin credentials against the currently lgged in user Click n Finish t cmplete the migratin. 16. Finally yu need t enter the new SYSPRO SQL registratin number fr yur cmpany using the Cmpany Maintenance prgram. Yu are nw finished migrating t a SQL database.
