Ohio Workers Compensation Medical & Health Symposium The 2016 Ohio Workers Compensation Medical & Health Symposium is a free educational opportunity for healthcare providers. Focusing on pain and neuromusculoskeletal management, the two-day symposium features leading national and state experts. It is being held March 10 11, 2016. The two-day, annual symposium, offers nationally-known specialists in pain management, medical ethics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, alternative medicine, radiology, neurology and orthopedic surgery. Attendees will learn about the topics listed below. Opioid and non-opioid prescribing guidelines Challenges of managing addiction Therapeutic advancements in the practice of pain management Complexity of urinary drug testing Multi-disciplinary coordination of care plan Proper use of imaging in patient care Treatment of occupationally-related knee injuries Ethical and special considerations in pain management Who should attend Physicians, chiropractors and clinicians involved in the care of injured workers.

Approved CE types Physicians (CME) The Ohio State University Medical Center, Center for Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The Ohio State University Medical Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Registered nurses (RN) The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (OH-188, 1/1/2019) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. Chiropractors (CE) The Ohio State Chiropractic Board has approved the BWC as a Board-Approved CE Sponsor. Three tracks of educational sessions for the Ohio Workers Compensation Medical and Health Symposium were registered with the board via their website at http://chirobd.ohio. gov. The course is approved for up to 12.00 Chiropractor CE hours. Contact hours are also approved for select sessions in the following CE types: CDMS, CRC and CCM. Keep in mind Lunch is on your own. Hotel and parking information is on the website. You will need your employer s workers compensation policy number to register at www.bwc.ohio.gov. Printed materials will not be provided. Session materials will be available for you to print a week before the event on the registration site.
