JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Direct Marketing Reports to: Head of Individual Giving Responsible for: Staff: 1 member of staff, Direct Marketing Executive Hours: 37.5 hours/week. Location: The post will be based at the Charity s Head Office, Hammersmith, London, W6 Job Purpose: To work with the Head of Individual Giving to develop and implement integrated stewardship strategies for all Direct Marketing Donors. The post will be responsible for managing the communications programme for all DM supporters, provide leadership for the development of these activities within the Charity and ensure that key performance indicators for all activities are delivered against. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of external agencies relating to the programme and work with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure engagement of all relevant activities. The post holder will also be responsible for the line management and supervision of the Direct Marketing Executive. 1. Team The Individual Giving Team recruits, develops and nurtures individuals interested in supporting the Charity. Supporters vary in their methods and motivations for support, giving through Direct Marketing appeals, In Memorial Giving, Tribute Funds, Legacies and Regular Gifts. The Individual Giving team is responsible for working with a number of key agencies to move these supporters through the donor journey to ensure that they are communicated with effectively and in a manor that suits their needs to increase loyalty and commitment to the Charity and ultimately increase support. Within the remit of the team is the top level development and delivery of the Charity s Supporter Care function; a set of resources, tools, internal and external staff who offer a level of service as agreed by the organisation as a whole. 2. Duties and key responsibilities Strategic planning Responsible for the strategic planning, delivery and ongoing development of the Direct Marketing programme ensuring it complements the Individual Giving department, Fundraising and Charity's overall corporate strategies Responsible for delivering the direct marketing and committed giving activities against agreed targets and key performance indicators (KPI's), monitoring, evaluating and reporting back as necessary. Provide strategic analysis and reporting on all DM campaigns and use results to inform the development of future activities including future budgets and business plans Stewardship and Recruitment Responsible for developing and delivering integrated stewardship programmes for all DM donors which will include all communications, activities and events with the purpose of acquiring new donors and increasing loyalty and commitment from existing supporters To identify new routes, channels and audiences to promote activities and products amongst existing contacts of the organisation and new prospects To proactively promote and market committed giving and direct marketing across the Charity Managing Retainer Agency To manage the relationship with the Charity's Direct Marketing retainer agency ensuring that they provide a high quality service, maximise opportunities for income growth and are cost-effective Manage all direct marketing activities; developing and delivering plans to support the Individual Giving teams, upgrade, stewardship and recruitment objectives Effective project management of all campaigns ensuring, hosting regular meetings with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of all campaigns in the communication plan Manage the results reviews process ensuring they are carried out regularly and that all relevant outcomes are presented back to key stakeholders (internal and external). Managing key internal and external relationships To manage the Charity s relationship with other external agencies that it employs to support direct marketing activity and ensure that they carry out their work efficiently, cost-effectively and to maximum benefit for the Charity. Ensure that all activities with relevant external agencies are integrated, compliment and support the departments overall stewardship programme and Charity s key messages and brand requirements Develop and maintain relationships with key Direct Marketing stakeholders both internally and externally. To liaise with all relevant stakeholders throughout the Charity to ensure that key direct marketing themes reflect the Charity s key strategies, key messages and brand guidelines To identify and work with key stakeholders across the organisation to maximise all opportunities for growth - including other fundraising and operational managers Page 2 of 5
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Charity to ensure appropriate input to Direct Marketing campaigns and to ensure that opportunities for synergy with Direct Marketing are realised Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to project manage the development and delivery of the Charity s newsletter Vital Budget management Ensure the proper management, reporting and reforecasting of budgets under the job holder s control, and participate in budgeting and financial management at departmental level as required Data and Information Management To ensure that all activities adhere to agreed Supporter Care and Data and Information Management principles and guidelines. To champion the need of up to date and accurate records on the Charity s database to ensure data integrity. To assist in maintaining high quality data on the Raiser's Edge database, ensuring information is gathered and recorded in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and the Charity's Data Protection Policy To oversee the maintenance of all Direct Marketing resources, including the DM bible, samples library, key contacts, presentations and reports. Use all activities where appropriate to promote tax effective giving to individual donors Maintain donor trust and confidentiality at all times.
