1 POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Direct and Digital Marketing Officer ROLE GRADE: 6 REMUNERATION: COST CENTRE: Range $55,500 - $58,500 pro rata (inclusive of 9.5% superannuation) commensurate with qualifications and experience Marketing and Fundraising LOCATION: Melbourne DATE REVIEWED: November 2015 POSITION BASIS: Full time, Three months fixed term Introduction Bush Heritage Australia is a national non-profit organisation protecting the natural environment through the management of land and water of high conservation value. This is achieved through three complementary strategies: directly purchasing land that has outstanding conservation values, purchasing and revegetating land that will reconnect fragmented landscapes, and building partnerships with other land owners, particularly traditional owners. Bush Heritage has more than 37 nature reserves throughout Australia. In addition Bush Heritage partners with Aboriginal and agricultural land owners to achieve conservation management outcomes. Currently, Bush Heritage is working across more than 5 million hectares through direct acquisitions and partnerships. Established in 1991, Bush Heritage has over 40,000 supporters Australia wide and an annual operating budget of over $17 million. Bush Heritage is primarily funded by donations from individuals and philanthropic sources. In pursuing its mission, Bush Heritage engages staff and volunteers across all the States and mainland Territories of Australia. The organisation has six teams West Region, North Region, South East Region, Conservation, Marketing and Fundraising, and Corporate Services. Position Summary The Direct and Digital Marketing Officer supports the work of the Marketing and Fundraising Team by implementing direct and digital marketing programs to recruit, retain and develop supporters for Bush Heritage, particularly those supporting Bush Heritage with regular gifts to our Friends of the Bush program. Accountability The Direct and Digital Marketing Officer reports to the Direct and Digital Marketing Team Leader and works alongside another Direct and Digital Marketing Officer, whose primary focus is the recruitment, retention and development of supporters who give cash gifts. Key Responsibilities and Duties 1. Implementing projects identified in direct marketing annual plans and long-term strategies to recruit, retain and develop donors for Bush Heritage. In particular, overseeing and providing recommendations for the progressive improvement of Bush Heritage s monthly giving program, called Friends of the Bush. 2. Building and managing effective relationships with external suppliers, to ensure the effective delivery of Bush Heritage s regular giving program. 3. Project management to deliver agreed objectives to deadline and budget across a range of channels including face to face, telemarketing, , online, and direct mail. 4. Working with the Bush Heritage CRM and associated data management and reporting platforms to effectively target, monitor and report on projects and programs to improve their ongoing performance. 5. Building and managing effective relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure good information flow from the field in support of an effective fundraising program. 6. Ensuring that the Bush Heritage brand, key messages and Privacy Policy are applied to all direct and digital marketing activities. 7. Assist the Direct and Digital Marketing Team Leader to create, manage and monitor annual budgets and plans for Bush Heritage s direct marketing activities. 8. Other duties where appropriate as directed by the Direct and Digital Marketing Team Leader Key Outcomes 1. Bush Heritage s donor recruitment, retention and upgrade objectives are met particularly those identified for the Friends of the Bush program. 2. External suppliers working with Bush Heritage are well managed and supported, resulting in a cost-effective and high performing fundraising program.

3 3. The Direct and Digital Marketing Team is able to progressively develop the direct and digital marketing program, improving effectiveness and returns.

4 Qualifications, Skills and Selection Criteria Essential Support for the values and objectives of Bush Heritage Australia. Demonstrated experience in managing projects to achieve identified outcomes within agreed deadlines and budgets. Demonstrated experience in dealing with suppliers for optimum results (for example face to face fundraising agencies, telemarketing and creative agencies, copywriters, printers, designers and mailing houses). Demonstrated ability to use customer databases for record management, targeting and reporting. Demonstrated ability to use bulk systems and experience as a front-end user of CMS systems. Demonstrated administrative and computer competencies, including demonstrated experience in using MS Excel to manipulate and analyse data. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve goals. Desirable Experience of direct marketing and/or fundraising. Experience in the not-for-profit sector. Direction and Guidance Reporting to the Direct and Digital Marketing Team Leader the Direct and Digital Marketing Officer is primarily responsible for fulfilling the various responsibilities associated with this position. As a self-starter, it is expected that the incumbent will contribute towards improving the effectiveness of systems being managed including the development of new systems where required. CEO and the Board Gerard O Neill is Bush Heritage s Chief Executive. The Board Chair is Louise Sylvan, and Directors include leading Australians from business and commerce, government, non-government and private sectors, conservation and science. Bush Heritage demonstrates a strong commitment to Aboriginal people and has Aboriginal representation on the Board.
