4 The role of Digital Project Intern Girlguiding is recruiting a Digital Project Intern who will report to the Digital Product Manager, as part of the Communications & PR directorate. Girlguiding is implementing a new digital strategy, a large programme of work which includes a new website and membership system. The Digital Project Intern will provide support to the Digital Product Manager on the delivery of Girlguiding s Digital Strategy including administration, communication, event planning, workshop recruitment, testing and content migration. This role sits within the Digital and Creative Communications team that comprises the digital and website project team, membership communications, social media, and the editorial and design teams. Due to the nature of the work, regular weekend and evening working will be required, at sites outside of London on occasion, for which time off in lieu will be taken. The Digital Project Intern will provide support to the Digital Product Manager on the delivery of Girlguiding s Digital Strategy including administration, communication, event planning, workshop recruitment, testing and content migration. This role sits within the Digital and Creative Communications team that comprises the digital and website project team, membership communications, social media, and the editorial and design teams. Main areas of responsibility To provide administrative support to the Digital Product Manager on the Digital Strategy delivery. To organise meetings and workshops with staff, Girlguiding members and the general public. To write and provide Girlguiding members with updates on the progress of the Digital Strategy delivery, via our blog, s, magazine, social media and other appropriate channels. To engage with our network of Digital Champions through , social media and blog comments. To assist with the administration of Team Digital a group of year-olds who we are consulting regularly on the progress of the digital project. To support the testing of our new website throughout its agile development. To assist with the migration of content from the current website Content Management System to the new website. To learn about key elements of digital platforms and communications, including: social media, marketing, content creation, agile development, project management. Knowledge and skills To have a good knowledge of digital communications in the charity sector.
6 Problem solving To identify problems within work area and refer them to more senior colleagues as required. To develop problem solving skills during the internship and begin to independently solve problems related to the delivery of the Digital Strategy. To suggest solutions to problems as they occur. Innovation To keep up-to-date with new developments in digital communications and platform development. To provide new creative ideas to the Digital Team. Planning & decision-making To manage and prioritise own workload - highlight conflicting deadlines as they arise To adapt quickly to changes in circumstances and be able to effectively negotiate around issues and problem as they arise. Interpersonal skills To build good working relationships with staff working on digital projects, developing an understanding of their area of work and how it aligns to Girlguiding s strategic objectives. To work well with volunteers, girls and young women and alumni, as well as with staff across all Girlguiding sites. To develop excellent working relationships with our digital agency and other third party suppliers. To support and communicate with Team Digital and our group of Digital Champions (members and non-members from across the UK who have expressed an interest in our digital transformation). People development and leading The post holder will have no line managerial responsibility. Monetary responsibility:
7 To provide administrative support to the financial processes of the Digital Team related to Digital Strategy delivery such as invoice coding and logging expense receipts. To manage travel budgets and expenses for travel for key staff and volunteers involved in Digital Communications activities. Opportunities The intern will have the opportunity to: Contribute to the work of the Digital and Creative Communications team Support the delivery of the Girlguiding Digital Strategy Gain experience dealing with a range of stakeholders Girlguiding staff, volunteers, girls and young women Draft internal and external communications Learn about key elements of digital platforms and communications, including: social media, marketing, content creation and management, agile development and project management Gain experience working in a vibrant youth charity with a new remit for digital transformation Additional information To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required to fulfil the duties of this post. This role may require some evening and weekend working for which time off in lieu will be given. Girlguiding commits to providing the following training and opportunities during the internship: Digital content production and Content Management Systems (CMS) marketing and Marketing Systems (EMS) Project management methodology for Agile projects Google Analytics and other associated stats packages Content strategy User experience Social media management and tracking Integrating digital as part of a wider communications strategy Digital in the charity sector Attendance at a variety of external training sessions and events Regular supervisions will be held throughout the internship for support, guidance and ongoing development. Completion of this internship will be excellent preparation for a career as a digital professional in the charity sector.

9 Terms & Conditions Contract Type This post is a full-time, 6 month fixed term post. Location You will be based at Girlguiding, Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0PT. However, on occasions you may be required to perform your duties, on a temporary or permanent basis, from any other Girlguiding premises within a reasonable travelling distance of this location. You may be required to travel inside the UK on business of the Charity. Salary/Rate You will be paid 7.46 an hour. Working Hours Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with one hour for lunch. However, you may be required to work at times other than and in addition to your normal hours of work. Probationary Period The post will be subject to a probationary period of 4 weeks. Medical Check Upon successful appointment, you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire. Employment is subject to satisfactory receipt of a medical check. Holidays 25 days paid holiday per annum plus bank holidays. This increases after two years services as on 1 January to 26 days, and then a further one day for every two years of service, up to a maximum of 30 days for 10 years service and above. Holidays and bank holiday allowance will be pro-rata for part-time and fixed-term employees.
10 Terms & Conditions Notice Period During the probationary period, the period of notice required is one week by either party; or 4 weeks thereafter. Benefits Pension Scheme Upon completion of three months service you will be eligible to join the Girlguiding Group Personal Pension scheme. The scheme is contributory.
