JOB DESCRIPTION Job Grade: Technical Services Grade 2 Job Purpose: To provide a technical support service for teaching, learning and conference experiences at Loughborough University. To Support lecturers, staff, students and external customers in circa 160 learning and teaching spaces under the supervision of the Teaching Support Manager Extensive in-house training during the 18 months training will enable the successful candidate to be able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined in the job description and person specification Duties and Responsibilities: To provide timely and effective audio visual support for lecturers in pool teaching and learning space. To undertake first line maintenance and support of all AV and IT equipment in all pool teaching rooms. Demonstrate functionality of audio visual equipment to lecturers, staff, students and conference delegates. To provide support and advice of audio visual requirements to University high profile events, schools, students and external conferences. Conduct regular preventative maintenance checks on display equipment, PA systems, interactive display devices, DVD/Blu ray playback and visualisers to ensure the serviceability, performance and reliability of euipment is maintained.
Basic installation of new audio visual and IT equipment. Helping maintain stock of Teaching Support equipment and materials while keeping inventory records. To become familiar with and use equipment and systems including an equipment booking system and to undertake special training where required. Make daily operational decisions to ensure all equipment is fully functional, delivered on time and that technical support is provided when required. To be available for call out, out of normal hours for conferences and events as required (supervision would be provided). To continually update personal development in line with the Performance and Development Reviews. To ensure that work locations and equipment are used in the course of duties are safe in accordance with Health and Safety at Work, and to report to the Teaching Support Manager any defective or unserviceable equipment. Carry out regular inspections to ensure the electrical safety of audio visual equipment in accordance with University guidelines and to comply with legal requirements. Maintain records of those checks. To understand and implement Health and Safety policies To hold a current clean driving licence and to drive a Corporate Services vehicle in the course of the post holder s duties.
