WEISSER PARK ARTS MAGNET SCHOOL ENSEMBLE ARTS (EA) POLICIES AND INFORMATION Please see information below to help you fully enjoy Weisser Park s fine arts program. 1. GENERAL INFORMATION: ~How many EA classes can my child take? As many as you want! It is required for every child to participate in at least one EA class. However, please pay close attention to classes meeting on the same day so that there are as few conflicting classes as possible. ~How does my child get registered for EA classes? Registration forms will be available at school registration on Aug. 1 & 4. Families should fill out the registration form and return it to an Arts Team member before leaving. Students desiring a class with limited space will be chosen through a lottery system. Confirmation of EA classes will be available the second week of school for Back-to-School Night at Weisser Park. Parents will be expected to pick up their child s EA class schedule at that time. ~What time do EA classes meet? Morning EA classes meet from 7:45-8:45 a.m. Students may be dropped off at Door 5 beginning at 7:35 a.m. Afternoon EA classes meet from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Students may be picked up at Door 5 between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. There are a few pullout classes during the school day as well. ~When do EA classes begin? First semester (S1), first quarter (Q1), and year-long (Y) classes begin the third week of school. More detailed calendar information is published in this brochure, classroom newsletters, and the school Signature monthly newsletter. ~Do EA classes meet when there is a 2-hour delay? No! Morning EA classes will not meet when FWCS declares a two-hour delay. ~Is child care available? Yes! You can sign Weisser Park students up for the YMCA Childcare Program, available from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Fees are competitive with other child care services in the area. 2. CLASS PAYMENT/REFUNDS: ~Why do I have to pay for these EA classes? The flat fee charged for EA classes are minimal and much less than fees charged by community organizations providing similar services. Fees are used to purchase materials used by students in EA classes and potentially hire additional teaching artists. ~When do I have to pay for these EA classes? Full payment is expected at school registration in August. Financial aid is available for families unable to pay the total fee located in this booklet. ~How can I pay for my EA fees? Something new this year we are able to take payment by credit card! Also, cash and checks made out to Weisser Park are still accepted. ~Can I get a refund on EA fees? No. EA fees are non-refundable. This year every child is required to pay a flat fee of $35 at school registration in August.
3. SCHOLARSHIPS: ~What do I do if I need financial assistance to pay for EA class fees? Sign up for one of the payment options listed on the EA registration form at school registration. A variety of payment options are provided including a bi-weekly payment plan, EA scholarships, and individualized payment agreements. To qualify for scholarship money, families need to fill out scholarship paperwork and return it to Miss Bean. 4. DROPPING EA CLASSES: ~How do I drop an EA class? In the event that a student needs to drop an EA class for which he/she is registered, please notify Miss Bean at least one week prior to the start of the EA class (phone, email, or written note). No refunds are available even if your child never attends a class for which they are registered. 5. TRANSPORTATION: ~Is transportation available in the morning? Yes! FWCS bus transportation is available for morning EA classes. Complete an Early Bird transportation form and return it to either Mr. Cammack or Miss Bean. It can take several days for FWCS to process this information, so please complete the information as soon as you know you need it. ~Is transportation available in the evening? No. There is no FWCS bus transportation available for afternoon EA classes. 6. ATTENDANCE: ~What is the EA class attendance policy? Students are expected to attend the EA classes for which they are registered. A student with more than three unexcused absences may be excluded from further participation in the EA class and/or any performances in which the EA class participates. *Siblings may not attend the EA classes unless they are registered for that class. Siblings who need to stay at school should be registered for the YMCA Childcare Program for supervision (paperwork is available). ENSEMBLE ARTS CALENDAR Y (all year) EA classes...
