2 Course Description Advancements in neurorehabilitation are accelerating at an unprecedented rate. Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation professionals need an opportunity to gather and learn about the latest developments, exchange ideas and concepts, and create sustainable collaborations. The Neurorehabilitation Summit covers a wide range of topics related to common diagnoses: brain disorders, spinal cord injury/disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. The Summit addresses research initiatives, advances in medicine, innovative technology and clinical applications to strengthen the continuum of care for these populations. Course Learning Objectives Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: Compare best practice models for the rehabilitation of individuals with acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neurologic disorders. Articulate emerging concepts regarding the use of technology within the practice of rehabilitation. Review and describe the principles of neuroplasticity and recent research that support cutting-edge interventions. Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. Intended Audience Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists and Psychologists. Credit Mayo Clinic College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Mayo Clinic College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Mayo Continuing Nursing Education is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. Participants can earn up to 13.5 accredited nursing contact hours. Physical therapists can earn up to 13.5 accredited CE hours according to Minnesota Rule subpart 1A. Occupational therapists can earn up to 13.5 CE according to MN Statues Subd. 2. Other Health Care Professionals A certificate of attendance will be provided to other health care professionals for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations.
3 Date and Location The Neurorehabilitation Summit is May 19-20, Course headquarters are located at the DoubleTree Hotel, 150 South Broadway, Rochester, Minn. Meeting facilities are easily accessible by skyway and pedestrian subway, which connect Mayo Clinic to shops, restaurants, and hotels. Registration To register online, visit or complete the attached registration form and return by mail or fax. The registration fee includes tuition, online course syllabus, continental breakfasts, break refreshments, and lunch. Although it is not Mayo School of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) policy to limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is advised. A letter of confirmation will be sent upon receipt of payment and completed registration form. Please present the confirmation letter when checking in at the meeting registration desk.
